I hope you have the emergency service number ready on your phone for the inevitable alcohol poisoningGonna watch the new video and take a shot whenever Ruby mispronounces something, wish me luck
Should I end up in hell (it’s likely …) I fully expect that one of my torments will be as follows: I will be locked in a dusty room with Ruby. I’ll be strapped to a chair and Ruby will be flouncing round the room reading the full version of the OED in her poetry voice, whilst mispronouncing Every. Damn. Word.No chance of her making it through the first shelf of the 'bookshelf'... how on earth has she not learnt what that piece of furniture is called yet, its like Chinese torture listening to her get it wrong every time.
English names can be difficult even for native speakers (as Ruby proves) so I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s just surprising that Ruby, a literature student who claims to be such a book worm and to love academia, makes such a mess of pronouncing these names - especially the ones that aren’t exactly niche. I think half her problem is that she seems to glance at names and assume a pronunciation rather than read it properly. For example, she pronounced Gazdanov as Gaznadov. Even the former wouldn’t sound perfect to real Russians when read in an English way, but at least it’s a good approximation rather than a totally different name.Okay i just watched her video while cooking, and it might just be me being dumb but English is not my first language and I couldn’t really pick up on any oddly pronounced author names… does that mean I’ve been pronouncing authors name wrong my entire reading career?embarrassing..
Reader, I did dare. And I blooming well regret it.Blimey, forty minutes!? Dare I!?
Still laughing at the thought of this introduction happening.
If they corrected her, there's a substantial risk that:I don't understand why professors have never corrected her on her pronunciation. For all the money her family spends on her education, why is she so stupid?
I'm barely holding onEvuh-lyn (Eev-lyn is how the masculine name is pronounced) and she added an N to the last name so Wawn to rhyme with yawn.
Are you okay? Should we send out a rescue party?
The thing I find utterly bizarre and fascinating: Ruby constantly says that she considers videos over 12 minutes "too long" to make or watch. So she often condenses several things that might be vaguely interesting (days out to interesting places, time spent with people more charismatic and likeable than her) into a 11 minute vlog full of sped-up, silent footage and slapdash editing.Blimey, forty minutes!? Dare I!?
Barely 2 minutes in and I hear 'Rude-yard Kipling' (Rudyard Kipling). We need a proper compilation of all mispronunciations. Could be hilarious.I'm barely holding on
i hate commenting on what people wear but lol no literally if she had on black or dark wash high waisted jeans and tucked it in and wore the cardigan over it would look so nice! (i probs wouldnt wear a green shirt, maybe white or a neutral brownish colour thats darker than the cardigan)I think even the cardigan could look alright if she just styled it more like a person her age. Tucking the green top into some high-waisted pants would make a significant difference imo.
sorry pondscum has absolutely sent meRuby's fans appear to have very quickly forgotten about that blatant scam contest that she ran for her planner. Predictably, she never announced winners and nobody's tagged her or Pumpkin Productivity in any posts to say they’d won. She's just complete pondscum.
did she ever mention how long it would be until she announced the winners?Ruby's fans appear to have very quickly forgotten about that blatant scam contest that she ran for her planner. Supposedly July 28th. She said winners would be contacted directly, which is always a dead giveaway that nobody will win anything and it's a marketing scam.did she ever mention how long it would be until she announced the winners?
