I imagine RSD is probs there for the burgering weekends and the 'you have tit face' is moderately normal for pre-teens/teens, but the stuff in between, the stuff that isn't always sensationalised, is the stuff that concerns me. The food stuff, the booze, the strange man being brought into the household very quickly into a relationship, the moving them (running away?) from friends and support. There's so much outside of her rants.

Always an option that RSD is after custody hence the delete. Those children are his responsibility too and he could quite feasibly have taken steps to stop them being moved. Unless, of course, they also have a dreadful father.

I had wondered before why RSD allowed them to move to Scotland- he could have taken her to court over it. A friend of a friend did this, and their ex was only allowed to move 70 miles away as this was deemed commutable (it really isn't for little kids, but hey ho, better than nothing). I know RSM never had a good word to say about him, but he at least seemed to be consistent in their lives prior to the move.

There is a delicate balance between being a child career and being a domestic servant. If they are solely responsible for a bed-bound, disabled and overweight person, then they need to be returned to their dad or another family. Only mention the overweight issue as if they need to help get her up/ dressed, etc. This is significantly harder if the person is bigger.

If any of this is real - sometimes I wonder if it's all just hyperbole - I really hope the kids are ok.

I have a suspicion that a lot of it is at least exaggerated.
You would hope so wouldn't you.
I'm sure she thought some her 'kids eh? who'd ave em' tales were amusing and relatable. But they usually came across as nasty and unpleasant.
I just re read some tweets of hers when they were expecting RSD for Christmas but his train or plane was late. His children understandably wanted to wait up to see him. Diatribe from Louisa about 'well duck them and duck him. I'm going to bed. Next Christmas I'm going away to be on my own to get away from the bleeping kids'.
I mean. It's horrible stuff.

If it’s children’s services related, but odd it’s happened at the weekend. I hope it is though, so the kids get some help.
I wonder if the tales that were quickly deleted of her altercation with one of the kids was real and that kid went into school upset, told the teachers what happened and “by the way my mum’s been tweeting about it” and it’s all blown up from there - either direct to social services acting or at least RSM being informed a report has been made. The quickest way to get rid of the evidence of anything either child might say is to nuke her twitter. (I doubt SS would trawl Tattle for the receipts).

Something happening with unbound seems unlikely as they were still all happy flappy in the last reply someone got but I suppose not impossible.

It certainly seems like something in real life has her alarmed - I suspect also if she’d been suspended then one of her mates would be tweeting about false reports getting her accounts closed so I’m leaning toward deletion.

Oh social services will take evidence from anywhere if someone points it out to them.

One thing that often happens with abusive families is that they suddenly move home/ move schools/ start home educating if professionals start getting close to the truth.

If she manages to make it to 30 days off twitter and her account is permanently deleted, I propose we have a thread dedicated to Unbound and their grift enabling practices.

Yes good idea. They are so dodgy. They seem to have no interest in fulfilling obligations, or making their 'authors' fulfil obligations.
It would be interesting to find out just how much Unbound make from all these books people have paid for but which never appear. What is their refund policy? Do they just keep stringing people along promising 'it will be out next year'?

Yes - I should imagine the thread with Hattie Gladwell (albeit locked) is still knocking about somewhere. Her book was “still with unbound” in 2021. Now all links go to “page not found”. The book has evaporated like a puff of smoke. £15k that one was. And targeted people with physical and mental health issues so, like Jack and RSM, the people chipping in are statistically more likely to be on the lower end of affluence/least likely to have a wad of disposable income but also most likely to want to support “one of their own”.

The “refund” policy is awful. Hoops must be jumped through - you get “credit” if a project doesn’t appear and, if I remember, only have 30 days to turn the credit into cash or you are stuck with putting it onto a new “project”. In short - Unbound are NEVER out of pocket, they trouser the cash regardless of a projects status or fulfilment.

So Hattie Gladwell's book has never seen the light of day? Is she completely off twitter now?
I know these authors are responsible but is it that Unbound provide terrible support and backup? If the book is actually produced I guess they will lose money. Because hardly anybody would ever buy the wretched thing, but they've saved on production, mailing etc.

It’s a scam in my opinion. £15k raised - where is it gone? As you say, no book so no outlay apart from paying someone minimum wage (or nothing if they are an “intern”) to promote the original grifts via social media. Did the hundreds that commuter their £20 get anything back at all for their money?

I would even suggest that Hattie (and others) are equally exploited if they didn’t get anything advanced or otherwise, due to no publication. Especially if they have done a load of work towards it. Although the onus is still on them to deliver what is promised.

Hmm, this has reminded me that I'd backed this project yonks ago
and hadn't heard anything since the confirmation that their target had been reached AND also recently muted the organiser on Insta because of frequent woecakes and misery vagueposting. I hate how dismissive and uncaring that sounds, and I'm absolutely not accusing them of setting out to defraud people, we've all had a tough couple of years - but I am a bit frustrated that Unbound is not making it easy to track what is happening.

Just seems to be a bit of a pattern doesn't it? And these are the only ones we are aware of.

I've funded a number of books through Unbound, and bought few after publication.

I cannot remember any of the books I funded being the unmitigated disaster One in Five has been. Some had publication delays for various reasons (one of them was using a specialist binding technique for the edition I paid for, which was difficult to mass-produce, the number of illustrations in another caused problems with the layout of the e-book), and one wasn't published at all because a major buyer cancelled their order.

Other than One in Five, all of them apart from one have been published and I received my promised reward, depending on the funding level I paid for. The one that wasn't published I received an email offering a refund or credit for my account. Because I put in my refund request on time, I got a cash refund. Any publication delays were clearly explained and a revised timetable for publication was provided.

With One in Five, I sent a fairly blistering complaint just before Christmas 2022, and received credit to my account in January. The book I funded through that credit is ticking through the publication process and I receive regular updates.

I've had a few very positive experiences with them - regular updates about how things were going, explanations for delays etc, very happy with the final books. With this one it's so long since I had an update I thought it must have been abandoned and a refund sent to my account. Instead it's just showing as open for pre-sales, publication date tbc, last update from editor March 2022, and I can't get into my account!
