I think I read something about this too but it was some time ago. Perhaps they'll have mausoleum like Victoria and Alberts and the rest of the family will join them. But on the other hand its reported that they will be placed in the memorial Chapel next to her parents and Margaret, and Margaret was cremated because there wasn't enough room for her coffin plus two more. Because she is the longest reigning monarch it would be fitting if she had her own resting place and memorial.
It broke my heart seeing the Queen all by her self... i was surprised how emotional i was during service
From what we know of Philip’s character, and the aristocracy in general, this doesn’t seem plausible. Another clue is Penny being one of the select thirty at the funeral, whereas Lady Pamela Hicks, an actual Mountbatten by birth and Philip’s first cousin, wasn’t invited.
They have pictures in the daily mail of Charles with tears on his cheeks. They're also saying Charles and Harry are going to have a walk and talk. How would they know.
Why is not not plausible? Because she is a woman?
And it would make sense if she was invited if she was a very close friend. She might have supported him morally in his final years, it can't be easy to be very old and ill and basically knowing that your live is at the end.
It’s really neither here nor there tbh- very close friend or mistress- who is to know for sure? What’s the difference in behaviour? how do you define mistress?
Unlikely they were shagging when he retired to sandringham (95?). So spending large amounts of time together could be either.
It doesn’t really matter, she’s rumoured to be his long term mistresss and if that’s not enough evidence for you that’s fine. You don’t have to believe it
As for how the daily Mail know what wills and Harry are up to- the palace is leakier than a colander nowadays
these things are often shown to be correct at a later date.Regarding the Queen loosing weight I’m probably wrong but noticed it’s been since lockdown and would it make sense as she hasn’t got all these state dinners she’s use too. Al the socialising and food compared to having a normal life and maybe dinners for almost a year probably plays a big part in it
I agree, I’m just glad she has a great support system around her to help her through this tough time. I wonder did the Queen and the rest of the family see this coming or were slightly prepared? I know Prince Edward said it was a shock.
It’s a difficult one to call. It’s probably shocking but not all that surprising. Few see 90 let alone 99. I do think he was possibly allowed home to die peacefully. The surgery might’ve been to make him comfortable rather than prolong his life.
It does seem that Penny was like a daughter in law to him. She is married to Prince Philip's godson Norton Knatchbull (the son of Philip's cousin and grandson of Lord Mountbatten) and Norton is godfather to Prince William, so very close to the family.
The families became even closer when Norton did Penny so dirty and left her for another woman, he later crawled back, but the family hasn't really forgiven him and his health declined, which is why Charles walked their daughter down the aisle, she was still mad at her dad for what he did to her mum.
Which is another reason why I don't believe the "Penny is Phil's mistress" thing.
When the phones were hacked back in the 1990s press thought they struck a goldmine when they came across Phil and Penny on the phone. Disappointment was deep when all they talked about were Di&Ch&Cam and in the middle of it Norton took the receiver to gab.
Press often knows a lot and sits on stories sometimes for years, but I really have trouble believing Penny and Phil were ever anything more than close family.
The articles could of course be hinting at it or they might be simply shyte stirring, as it's been a popular rumour for ages.
It was a beautiful funeral, Prince Philip did an excellent job planning. I hope he enjoyed watching over it too. The massed band were on fine form, the lay clerks and soprano sounded lovely, the Dean was every bit the clergyman you could want for such an event, the Archbishop was....there, the piper was tear-jerking, the battle call at the end was such the perfect touch. Seeing the ponies made me cry.
Prince Charles looked so broken, I hope he can find some peace during his time in Wales. Camilla, Anne, Cambridges and Wessexes were wonderful. Wanted to hug them all, of course. Lovely reading the histories of the brooches the senior ladies were wearing. The nod to Prince Philip in the brooch Lady Louise was wearing
So glad she will be looking after his ponies.
