I can't believe she actually bought those sweets weeks ago and SAVED them for his birthday.
I don't think the boys have a nice life, I think their parents do the absolute bare minimum they can get away with. They're isolated, they don't socialise, they don't have interests or hobbies (Woody likes bulls, Alfie likes bubbles, these are not interests!). Alfie is showing signs of being developmentally behind his peers but spends his days sat in front of a DVD or colouring in their ramshackle kitchen. Their diets appear to be terrible. They get outside a lot but usually in clothing unsuitable for the surroundings and weather.
Compare with Beggys life. Beauty treatments multiple times a week. Time to indulge in her own interests (filming herself jiggling for Tiktok or answering her own questions in a Q&A). New clothes and shoes regularly, multiple 'new' cars. Weekends away with Steve. Spa trips with the girls (the MLM huns, not the chickens).
Yes the boys are fed and clothed and loved, but it's all just lacking. I'll be honest, I had quite a similar upbringing - there was no lack of love but it's more like my parents just didn't know how to stimulate kids and help them develop. In fairness, I had one housebound parent with mental illness and another working every hour god sent to pay the bills, so it's a different scenario. But it's really revealing now comparing my style of parenting with the way I was parented (and the way people like Beggy parent). It's classic hands on Vs hands off.
