I say this all the time. My mum and dad aren't married. Didn't ever interest them. Both been married before and didn't want to again. But why get engaged to be engaged? If your not interested in marriage? Just don't bother? My cousin got engaged the year before me and was so proud to be the first of our generation to be getting married. 10 years later, I am married and have been for 8 years, whilst my cousin is Still engaged and the cruise of it is, her fiance dosemt want to get married.....That’s another thing I find strange. You don’t have to marry your partner, some aren’t interested and that’s fine. If you propose though and they accept, surely that means you’d like to get married? A couple of years to save up and then marry. They’ve waited almost a decade and they’ve not even got a date set. Something is off about that

I could easily have had kids if I had decided to trap my bf within months of meeting him to secure the relationship/prevent him from leaving if I was that way inclined...fortunately for him, my morals are a bit higher than bogtrotters 
Likewise, most blokes with a semi decent job could have attracted a young girl from a bad background to marry and have kids by acting as a meal ticket just as Beaver Steve did. He hasn't got some fantastic unique set up that's out of reach for most people so what's he going on about?
