Yes, I'm afraid I saw it and couldn't help but think for goodness sake. It's too much now. I feel so much for them but they desperately need to step away from the limelight, they won't heal at all otherwise. And to be honest I'm starting to think nasty uncharitable thoughts like they are enjoying their victim status a bit too much, which makes me feel awful about myself but here we are.
If you're uncharitable, so am I. I get the feeling that they think they will change the law if they shout loud enough. Are they wealthy?

I feel for them, of course I do, but the same way I feel for all those who've lost loved ones in this dreadful way. They're not that only ones and yes the "come to this country" line was very, very telling. It does remind me of Denise Bulger (as she was) who has never ever been allowed to heal or come to terms with what happened, as every time there's a vaguely similar crime she's asked for a quote.

I often think about Ian too. Just going around doing his job, poor chap. Just as valued, just as loved, but he seems forgotten because the other two were so young.

Interesting...

And here is a report about the attack on Mr Hussein...

The report misses out the part in which armed police had to escort Mr Hussein, and his family, out of Bradford because of credible intelligence that he was about to be murdered.

There's so much our press seem absolutely terrified of reporting on when it comes to certain social issues and it does such a disservice to us all, makes us all that little bit more unsafe. It's unfuritating to me because hiding the truth doesn't ever make things anything but even worse.

Agreed, all it does it give the racists fodder for “it’s covered up when it’s them!”. Every community has bad apples and themes of evil running through - just like it’s not at all anti-catholic to report on child abusing priests it should be ok to report on things like this.

Nobody ever seems to learn is the depressing part. Stuff always just festers when it is is supressed, hence the rise of the far-right.

Mmmm....

And specifically this comment...
(Which we'll call the Mikado solution)

" the persons who withheld evidence and those who provided false testimony should be give a sentence the same as the many years this man served. there needs to be serious consequences for doing that. "

It might go some way to deal with the proliferation of expert witnesses....

Wow 47 years he has done. The American justice system is so messed up, feels like they pushed a conviction and the real killer has been free for a long time!

I have no words for this 😔 a two month old baby has died after being left in the back of a car for a few hours. The article makes it sound like a different family member, not the adoptive dads, found her

I read this earlier. I wondered if they’d been out for the day and each thought the other had taken the baby to bed which was why they didn’t realise the baby was in the car. I’m not sure on why the other relative found them

WTF?

Unless they live in a gigantic house, in separate wings, I fail to see how either man could fail to notice that the baby hadn’t been brought into the house. Complete and utter negligence and neglect.

Edit: sorry, I thought this was their excuse, not a theory you were putting across.

To be honest I don’t think it’s helpful to play devil’s advocate in these situations. There is no excuse for what happened.

There was an awful case of a baby girl in Ireland dying in a hot car because the dad forgot she was there. The story went away pretty quickly though as the community closed the book to the press and rallied round the parents.

I remember that, I heard a rumour the dad killed himself, don't know how true that is though

Gosh, that would be awful. Hope it's not true. I remember there was a lot of people defending him on forums at the time, apparently "baby brain" is a thing and forgetting your baby is not so uncommon? I'm not sure I quite believe that myself but it was just the most tragic of accidents so I can't judge the man.

it's more common than you'd think. There is some psychology around doing routine things so often that we do it almost absent mindedly, we don't even realize we're doing it.
I think this might be him actually I did some digging. Hopefully it is and he is still alive

So we reach the closing arguments in the Karen Read case.

Based on the evidence (lol) I would say innocent and at least three of the police officers involved be charged with perverting the course of justice and the entire police department be sent for retraining.

My problem is, based on things I've seen outside of the trial - particularly things she has said - I think she probably did reverse into him (however lightly) but I don't see how it could have killed him.

I remember this happening so clearly
I think it was maybe in County Cork - edited to say
It was their only child and I think the mum had just gone back to work and this was the first week the dad was dropping the baby off at child care and he forgot he had her in the back and drove to work instead, jumped out & locked car. It was in a heat wave.
Absolutely heart breaking. I felt terrible for them.
Never heard a thing since about but I’m sure they will never get over it.

From knowing ex Muslims it’s a massive issue that doesn’t get nearly any of the coverage it deserves due to various fears. It’s ridiculous that we claim to have religious freedom in this country but if you wish to leave Islam then you get a target painted on your back. Religious freedom should be for all, even those who wish to leave their religion or convert.

Time after time after time this happens - with small children, with dogs . . . FFS! Why do people never learn?

Even on a cool day no-one should leave an infant in a car - what if someone steals it? What if someone crashes into it? What If the baby is sick and chokes? Or just wakes up and is frightened?

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!

😡😡😡😡😡
