How long after referring yourself do they contact you to make your booking appointment?
I did the self-referral on a Thursday (when I was estimated at 4 and a bit weeks) and had the call to arrange the booking appt a week and a half later, booking appointment was 9 days after

however probably massively depends on your trust and also I had the Easter bank hol in the middle of all that

I’m 33 weeks now and have been on them since my booking. I don’t think they’re doing anything either other than making me nauseous and constipated. My midwife doesn’t seem too concerned as my haemoglobin is ok, my ferritin levels are shockingly low though!
Yes I got prescribed them from my booking and I’m only 13 weeks and already over it! Thinking of asking about an iron infusion but I don’t know if it’s a possibility or not

Has anyone got a fit to fly / certificate from Doctor to fly? We go mid June and I’ll be 28 weeks. It’s a 5 hour flight. At what point would you ask the Dr for this, maybe end of May? Thanks x

We had a feeding chair. I never used it once for feeding until I put them into their own room but it still didn’t really happen because that didn’t last and had to bring them back in with us.
Just got them out of the next to me and sat on the bed however I did breast feed so I didn’t have any reason to get up. If I was formula feeding and has to get up for the bottle I’d probably have been more inclined to use a chair.

Not sure if this is the right thread.

I’m 28 and fell pregnant unexpectedly. I think I’m about 5 weeks? I’m in a 2.5 year relationship. We’ve made our decision to abort but we are both absolutely heartbroken.

We don’t earn loads of money. My partner earns less than me. He’s had financial difficulties in the past and has only just found a job he likes, with possibilities to move up in the future.

We rent a tiny one bedroom flat in an expensive area. We still have a temporary sofa, and wardrobes without doors. We have been using our money to slowly build the flat up.

We don’t see a way we can make it work. If we move to a cheaper area, we lose what little support system we already have.
Sadly our families can’t support us financially.
Partners paternity package is appalling (2 weeks statutory pay) and mine is 8 weeks full pay and then 16 weeks half pay.
We can’t live off just one of our salaries or even part of our salaries. We’d have to have the baby straight into childcare which is horrible anyway, and we couldn’t afford. We can’t really afford anywhere bigger just yet.

I completely understand and agree, but I’m so resentful and upset at the state of the world. We both work full time and we can’t afford to have a child - it’s so unfair.
We wanted the time to be exciting and not stressful.

My partner suggested that we spend the next year or two taking it really seriously and saving money so that we are better prepared. He said we set a deadline (say, two years time) and even if we are in the same position, we start trying again anyway. At least we will be prepared.

I am so heartbroken and just wanted to vent I guess..
I really hope you are ok and it sounds like you have your partners support and your decision is solely your decision

I’d look into grants / sure start / child support as I know if you are on a lower income they can claim other benefits as well as SMP for in the future xx

I want to attend a funeral when I'll be 8 weeks but I'm already struggling a lot with nausea (as well as actually being sick today) and I'm not even 6 weeks yet which is earlier than it started with my last pregnancy and I was physically sick a lot with it being at it's worst around 8 weeks! Has anyone got any advice for how I would be able to manage it? It's not really something I can just sneak out of to be sick and then it will be pretty obvious to everyone else I'm pregnant but I am expected to be going and everyone will be wondering why I haven't gone if I stay at home. I'm so torn on what to do 😭

Has anyone done any of the free baby academy classes? I keep getting ads on insta but want to know if theyre any good

Awake in hospital in the middle of the night and need somewhere to talk! Came to my 36 week appointment just wanting to know baby's growth was ok and to start talking about midwife led pool births as my pregnancy was so complication free. Then got BP readings of up to 177/110 (was fine two days before) so sent to triage where it's slowly looking like I have signs of preeclampsia.
Labetalol has brought my BP down and me and baby are both still doing fine and while nobody has really spoken to me about it yet, it's dawning on me that baby will be induced at 37 weeks if not before.
I really didn't want unnecessary induction but this feels like a scenario where it would be needed. Crazy how fast everything can change but feeling grateful that my appointment happened to be today!
I was the same induced at a little over 37 weeks. Thought I was going in for a growth scan to be told your checking in after lunch time 🤫 it was a whirlwind but it was fine. Yes it can definitely feel very fast and you can get protective that you think they should stay in , but if they are better out they will encourage induction or section . Best of luck get plenty of rest if you can

Yeah that’s gross pregnant or not!
Also surely the smoke alarm could risk going off which would mean unnecessary down time so a cost to the business…
They’ve been doing it for months now but it never really bothered me until now. I think it’s just a cheeky puff here and there so not enough really to trigger the smoke alarm, but I’m definitely going to have to say something

I’ve had a bit of a sore throat for a few days and a very mild cold. But haven’t been interested much in food. Then when I do eat I retch a bit after. I don’t know what’s virus and what’s morning sickness. I just want to be in the eating for two phase 😭😭😂 (my first pregnancy I had a wonderful time from 16 weeks. This time - sheesh.)

Can you have McDonald’s milkshakes?
So many conflicting answers online.
Fancy a strawberry one, 14 weeks today but I don’t want to take the risk

I definitely look bigger some days than others think it's only the last couple of weeks where I do actually look like I've got a bump.
And friends/ family keep commenting that I'm barely showing which is adding to my anxiety so badly thinking something might be wrong even though logically I had my 20 week scan 2 weeks ago and baby was developing well and all measurements looked good. Just having a bit of a wobble with how bad my anxiety is at the moment and feeling a bit overwhelmed I think!

Hope it went ok! It took me a while to get back to my normal waxing because of the scary stories you read online about pain, but other than the fact it was worse due to months of regrowth, since then it's been absolutely fine, no different. I use it to practice my hypnobirthing breathing 😅
It was ok! The, errr, back end part was INTENSE but short lived which surprised me. I think my problem was that I was obsessed with the idea it would hurt more than usual so did a lot of tensing. She did lots more of the backs of my legs lying on my side and I was on my front for the shortest time possible. Will go back in 6 weeks, haha!

Places that sell decaf drinks;

So far I’ve found Costa decaff tea & a few from Starbucks I am yet to try.

Tango, 7up, sprite, coke no caffeine.

I’m struggling and need others please x

Mid morning and I had eaten! Not drank much though
sometimes not eating a lot of carbs for a while before testing or suffering badly with vomiting can cause it (unsure if you have or not). If she didn’t indicate anything it was likely just a trace of ketones and they’ll monitor to make sure it isn’t increasing then test for gestational diabetes if it does (unless your getting tested for GD already for any other reason) xx

I have been struggling with constipation which is a weird swerve from my pre-pregnancy life where my anxiety caused me to have the runs every morning without fail. I went all out with apricots this morning and went back into night time magnesium supplements over the last few today has been a bit more, errr, successful!
This is me too! Constantly constipated so been prescribed lactulose 🫠

Suffering with severe water retention today and tried a bikini on as we go away in a few weeks and WOW what a silly move as I feel and look like a washed up whale 🫠😭

I've caught my Husband's cold. My bladder is not going to survive the coughing and sneezing. Am I allowed to do a murder?
