Smyths have the tutti bambini crib just now for £119! They have a few other reasonably priced

I ordered my crib from the UK baby centre website. I think it was £150. It’s the maxi cosi iora one.

Baby stuff in general is sooooo expensive to be fair. This is baby 3 for me and the price difference in things even since my last 4 years ago is so drastic 😂
Ohhhh I nearly went there as it was at this massive retail park we went to as well but by that stage I was completely exhausted. I’ve had groin pain/cramps all day in the same place which is doing my head in. This is such a good tip!

Kind of grateful that if Baby Kestrel is a boy the name is SORTED and NOBODY CAN QUESTION IT especially in-laws because my Dad died when I was a kid (if a he, he will likely be a variation of my Dad's name, who was named after his father, who was named after his father, who was named after his father etc. etc. etc.)

If Baby Kestrel is a girl it'll be a free-for-all and I'll be keeping it a surprise
I remember you found out the same time as me so I notice you every time you post! I know you struggled with it all at the start, as did I to a certain degree! How is your head with everything now if you don’t mind me asking x

I had pelvic girdle pain it's no joke. I got physio via my maternity hospital it did help and provided some relief . Also a support band helped but mostly physio.
I can tell you once you have the baby it vanishes it's bizarre. The night before I had my boy ill never forgot the pain I was in on the uncomfortable hospital bed , it felt so flat and my hips were in agony and then I had him and it was gone I was delighted
So I've had physio and it didn't help at all, in fact the exercises I was given were practically impossible to do due to the amount of pain. And the band helps slightly if I need to walk anywhere but not a huge amount. I have basically given up leaving the house now because the pain is just too much 😭 I have managed to get some sleep during the night thank the lord but wow! Thank you for responding and reasurring me this will go once I have her because I am terrified I am going to be in pain for life.

I've been signed off work for two weeks with stress 🤡 work related not related to the pregnancy (although the small green olive sized guy/gal was of course a factor in me stopping trying to put up with the shite and just temporarily get the hell out of there and consider my options)

On a scale of 1 - Absolute Dickhead, how much of a cheeky wotsit would I be if I started going for other jobs and should I get it pull a Cilla "surprise surpriiiiiise"

(I'm in the public sector and not planning on leaving my organisation because no chance am I sacrificing the maternity entitlement I've earned through my years of service because someone else is playing silly buggers)
Go for it. Everyone does it!

This may be sensitive for some people but is anyone tracking their calories?
I’ve always been into the gym etc and I am still going now 5 x a week (blaze, prenatal reformer Pilates, lower body, upper body and a stretch workout) but I am honestly starving!
I’ve increased my calories to around 1800 (5ft9, weighed 68kg prior) but I’m waking up in the night by my stomach rumbling and this morning I feel beyond hungry!

Is anyone else tracking or did you increase more than this?
I’m not tracking at all and I’m not remotely a fitness girlie, but I’ve absolutely needed more food than usual, and will start to feel genuinely quite ill if I don’t eat little and often. I have tried to err on the side of healthier snacks (almonds, dried cranberries and sultanas being one, cashews or pistachios being another, or rice cakes) but that’s been even harder recently when I open my lunch box of snacks and turn my nose up at everything!

Not sure if this is the right thread.

I’m 28 and fell pregnant unexpectedly. I think I’m about 5 weeks? I’m in a 2.5 year relationship. We’ve made our decision to abort but we are both absolutely heartbroken.

We don’t earn loads of money. My partner earns less than me. He’s had financial difficulties in the past and has only just found a job he likes, with possibilities to move up in the future.

We rent a tiny one bedroom flat in an expensive area. We still have a temporary sofa, and wardrobes without doors. We have been using our money to slowly build the flat up.

We don’t see a way we can make it work. If we move to a cheaper area, we lose what little support system we already have.
Sadly our families can’t support us financially.
Partners paternity package is appalling (2 weeks statutory pay) and mine is 8 weeks full pay and then 16 weeks half pay.
We can’t live off just one of our salaries or even part of our salaries. We’d have to have the baby straight into childcare which is horrible anyway, and we couldn’t afford. We can’t really afford anywhere bigger just yet.

I completely understand and agree, but I’m so resentful and upset at the state of the world. We both work full time and we can’t afford to have a child - it’s so unfair.
We wanted the time to be exciting and not stressful.

My partner suggested that we spend the next year or two taking it really seriously and saving money so that we are better prepared. He said we set a deadline (say, two years time) and even if we are in the same position, we start trying again anyway. At least we will be prepared.

I am so heartbroken and just wanted to vent I guess..
I am so sorry I can't even imagine how you must be feeling and this is so heartbreaking. It seems like you've really thought everything through to make the decision that's right for you at this time. Also sending love ❤

Mr ST is getting on my tits this week. Every day he's got a tiny minor ailment he won't stop moaning about. I got a bit fed up of it last night and kindly told him that bodies hurt or do weird things sometimes and he's doing himself no favours by fixating on it as it just makes it worse and he has to just ride it out because there's nothing anyone can do about whatever it is and it will go away quickly. He mumbled something about me having no sympathy.

This man then had the audacity to say 'well last week you were moaning your hip hurt'. Yes, because we're in exactly the same situation 🙄 Honestly, why are they such babies?

Is anyone else absolutely ravenous? Been out for breakfast with my fella, then went to m&s and bought so many hot cross buns, came home and demolished 3 of them 💀 constantly eating keeps the sickness at bay for now! All the scan photos are so lovely to see, I’m tempted to book an early private one myself 🙈
Yes!!! I’m constantly hungry!! A lot of stuff doesn’t sound particularly appealing to me though 😂if I could just eat satsumas and spaghetti all day I would be fine. I had to buy cereal yesterday because my usual fruit at breakfast just isn’t cutting it. I had a bowl this morning and was hungry an hour later.

Do people keep asking you what are you going to name the baby? I'm reluctant to share the gender because the name question comes right after.

The local new and expectant mothers WhatsApp group I’m in have been talking about induction and balloons and hormone drips and waiting in hospital a week to be induced and this has unlocked a bunch of new nightmares for me…

errrrrrr I had to call in sick to work today and I'm not even entirely sure why, I am just so fatigued and I was awake half the night and the nausea is bad, but I feel a reet weakling for it lol
Honestly, you’re not a weakling. It is HARD. I came close to doing this so many times. I am deliberately scheduling as little as possible for Fridays because by then I’m ruined and my brain doesn’t work. I’ve been strategically operating a sort of flexi-time system where I put in an extra half hour to an hour at the start of the week to mitigate against potentially needing to sack off the very end of a week. It’s not fatigue like I’ve ever experienced before! If you feel like you need rest then rest!

I gave birth to my 96th centiler last Wednesday and he doesn’t fit into any of the beautiful newborn or up to one month clothes I spent loads of money on 🫠 straight into 0-3.
Noooo I’ve bought the most gorgeous onesies and little jumpers in newborn sizes 🥲 I don’t have that many 0-3 🙃

My son was 97th centile I think??? Newborn did ‘fit’ but it was a bit snug and I didn’t like the fit so he went into 0-1 which was a bit more roomy for him - luckily I’d packed both into my hospital bag.
I’d better repack my hospital bag then! Thank you for the tip xx

Hey all :) not sure what thread I posted on when I'd just found out in November I was pregnant, now here I am at almost 29 weeks with SPD and haven't been to work because of it today as I couldn't face driving😭. Has anyone purchased the babygo maternity 4 in 1 band at all? Really been sold on it but I'm at a complete loss on what size to get and online is NOT helpful one bit. I was a size 14 post pregnancy so that would indicate I should buy a Large size but I'm contemplating sizing up as I'm only going to get bigger but I'm just so confused by everything I read. Can you tell I'm a first time mum lol? Thanks so much for reading my insomniac fed up gibberish x

I'm 39 weeks today and the past week baby has been sleeping/going quiet on me alot more but is very active with normal movements when awake. I thought this was normal and ok as still getting active periods but now I'm starting to worry its not. I have had a ridiculously active baby with posterior placenta my whole pregnancy and hardly ever get much rest period so this is different. Should I get this checked?
