I had several early scans at my epu that had me dated just over a week behind to what my period/ovulation date was. They were done at the same hospital but they still had me go to my ‘12 week’ scan too early
Didn’t mind so much as it’s just an extra chance to see baby, also didn’t get offered scan pictures either which was fine but you’d think they’d have seen on my records that baby wasn’t matching up with my last period date 😂

can see it annoying if you struggle to get out of work or it’s far to travel though !
Yeah, I should be a lot more grateful for the extra scan time. It’s just been a mad busy week at work (yes, I know it’s Tuesday! But it’s not set to get any easier either!) and my nausea has been intense and I had to be in the office this morning instead of WFH like I’d hoped pre-scan because of the amount of meetings I have at the mo. I also got myself in a right tizzy yesterday about pretty much everything including ‘just in case’ there was anything wrong at the scan. At least there wasn’t anything wrong that they could see. I should focus on that part but I’m already thinking ‘what if they make me go to the hospital with the absolutely terrible parking for the next scan?’ or ‘what if it clashes with even more meetings?’. Bah. The modern woman cannot have it all!

When do you plan to tell work about your pregnancy? They have to allow you time off for your appointments

The ‘correct’ people know and yeah, I got the time off today no issue, but I’m the Big Boss, so to speak, and it’s a pretty hectic time of the year and nobody does my work when I’m not there and I’m actually having to pick up a bunch of extra work for various reasons. We assumed we were on an IVF journey this year, so I anticipated being pregnant much later in the year (if it was going to happen, that is), can’t lie-this is not a brilliant time to be dry heaving in my office pretending I’m tip top to the entire organisation (bar my ‘boss’ and HR) but also know there is no ‘brilliant time’ and I’m grateful for my wee miracle ❤

Does anyone know anything I can try to reduce the awful awful dreams? Every night I'm having vivid nightmares. I don't think it's emotionally related as I feel fine in that respect so I presume it's hormones. But last night I dreamt my Mum died, my Husband left me and I was being slowly tortured by terrorists and now I feel so upset and panicky and it's happening most nights now.

I’m being a total fool but I’ve had a slightly garbled email from my midwife to say the Dr has reviewed my notes (which I knew was happening) and it will ‘be discussed at my next appt’. Did I need an email that said that? No of course not FFS. What was the actual point of being brutally honest and telling them I suffer from crippling, all-consuming anxiety at my booking appointment if they’re going to send me silly emails like that. My next appt isn’t for a month. A month of wondering what the consultant has to say.

Also a recommendation I take aspirin ‘if I am happy to’ and I can ‘look up on NHS website’ about why they recommend it. Asking if we discussed it at the first appt. But my named midwife didn’t do my first appt. A student midwife did. My named midwife didn’t actually introduce herself, she flew in and started asking me rapid-fire questions about my mental health.

I’ve worked all my working life with vulnerable people and it’s become really obvious to me the massive gap between the way in which we are psychologically informed and trauma informed at work to put people as much at ease as possible and how that doesn’t exist anywhere else in society. This is a much wanted, dreamed for and hoped for baby but I’m still a confused and anxious mess about everything, despite being old enough to be a grandmother and a person who, on paper, really should have her tit together.
I feel like I’m being a bit precious and a bit ‘my diamond shoes are too tight’. They haven’t large shamed me which I’m so relieved about. They haven’t shamed me for being on my SSRI (though I read the potential side effects for a foetus/newborn and they have freaked me the duck out so I’m not sure what to do about that). They have reiterated to me that everything is my choice (though I have no idea what I’m actually choosing, lol). So it’s not all bad.

You're absolutely right to feel that way. Anxiety or not, you don't be all vague and dump that on someone because it will make anyone worry. They should just explain outright.

Thank you. Or just… not say anything till the appointment? They insisted my notes went to the consultant because a hundred years ago (actual time 15 years this year) I had keyhole surgery to laser out endometriosis. This has never, ever been mentioned to me as a thing that could be a complicating factor in pregnancy. If anything, post surgery the doc said ‘don’t delay trying for a family’ (which I did of course, haha). So I feel like this is a big fuss over nothing anyway and I’m going to refuse to let it worry me. I’ve had no tests done that could trouble the Dr at this point so I will not allow myself to spiral. Endometriosis is so common, so is PCOS which I also have. I have no rare health conditions or weird/rare underlying stuff. I’m just old and large but that’s not why they sent my notes away 🤣

They talked so quickly at the appointment and I feel like the email was like the verbal conversation. Rushed!

I think they have to pass things like that on to a consaultant but it doesn’t mean it could cause any sort of complications, maybe it means they need to look at things closely on a scan just in case or just call and talk to you about it

Both pregnancies I had the same because I had lletz surgery years ago, it didn’t cause any issues in either pregnancy but I still had to have a cervical length scan each time.

Same here. They did a cervical length scan at 20 weeks both time and then referred me back to midwife led care. Neither time that I was referred to a consultant did the letter tell me why! Don’t get why they do that. Just say!

@ThisIsMyDragName Sorry to swoop into the thread (I'm not pregnant, I just love snooping around here a little bit, as my sis is right now and it gives nice context): your doctor might want to make sure that there's no scarring from the laparoscopic laser treatment, it can happen as a side-effect, which in turn is something they like to know if you opt for a c-section or something like that. My SIL had the same or very similar treatment and she told me about it. I guess they just wrote it down because they need to bring it up, but it's probably bog-standard. Still not helpful to write it down in this manner, people are stressed enough as it is ❤

Can I ask what prams / travel systems people have bought or looking into? Thank you
I think we’re going with the Cybex Priam travel system. I just love the look of it and it was my favourite when testing them all out

We have the Nuna mixx and the Maxi Cosi pebble 360 car seat and love both. The car seat rotating has already come in super handy when I’ve not been able to access that side of the car due to some moron’s bad parking (or mine🤣)

Trying to decide between the Occarro and Oyster 3. Going to try both side by side this weekend to make a decision.
We’ve got the Occarro and we love it. The suspension is incredible when going along all the uneven pavements in our area. 😂

I had the most horrific nightmare tonight and I’m now laying here wide awake. Like you I’ve been having nightmares. I don’t remember these with my first.
