Anyone have any tips on surviving severe congestion and a horrible cough while pregnant? It’s been a week now and I’ve barely slept. Paracetamol doesn’t do much and neither does olbas oil and steaming. I was hoping to enjoy my very early pregnancy but I just keep wondering how this little one hasn’t been coughed out. 😅
Natural wise, a spoon of honey could help, studies have been done to say it actually works.
Pineapple has a natural component that can help loosen mucus and reduce inflammation so may help too. Pineapple juice is a source of vit C too and quite soothing when cold so might be worth a go.

Posting a little update in case it's ever helpful to other AMA mums checking in here (I'm 38)
i was tested earlier in the week for potential cholestasis as I'm suffering from this relentless itching and my anxiety just went through the roof literally the moment i was told things could be taking a bad turn

Today I got my first set of results back (bloods) and my bile acid range has come back as well within 'normal' and I'm so relieved !

Thankfully I spoke to my own GP this time and she was very reassuring but because bump and boobs are still very itchy she is going to do follow up bloods in 3 wks but more as a precaution than anything by the sounds of it .
Tbh there was a lot to take in but I think now I can at least rest my mind that baby is safe and just keep on going best I can 🙏

Not sure if anyone knows, but...

I don't want to know the gender and I specifically said so to the sonographer, but will it be on my notes anywhere that the midwife can see or I might accidentally see or do they just leave it out of all paperwork?

No I don’t believe it’s included in the paperwork as it’s not medically relevant

So, my baby’s blood type is Rh positive 😭 I am O-, which means my stupid husband must be a positive blood type! 🥲 anti D here we come…

anyone else has anti D injections? Are they that bad? 😖

I had it last time and need it again this time (fellow o neg!). I didn’t notice it being any different to any other injection. I feel like you get used to being a pin cushion during pregnancy, labour and post birth 😂

We didn’t find out with our first but I told everyone within the first 10 seconds of meeting during all appointments.

For those who have packed their hospital bags … how do you make it all fit?!

I just tried to not over pack, there’s so many things on hospital bag lists that you really don’t need or could leave in a bag in the car just in case.

I have one small cabin suitcase (which is mainly my things) and a holdall for baby’s things. And a bag of extra bits will be kept in the car just incase I have to spend a longer time in hospital or run out of something

I might just do this. I've read so many stories of a clinician letting it slip because they didn't know parents didn't want to know.

I’m going to say the same again this time, I’ve my first midwife appointment in 2 weeks time and I’ll be telling her and I know she won’t care at this stage. I even told the lady at the private scan at 7 weeks and I know they wouldn’t be able to tell anyway.

I’m 37 weeks tomorrow, I can’t bloody believe it!!! Now just a waiting game.. could be tomorrow.. could be 4 and a half weeks yet 😂

for my first I took a cabin bag for me and then what is now just my regular baby changing bag for baby. Remember you’re not going to be a million miles away from shops etc, and your partner is probably going to go home at some point. We just put a handful of nappies in the bag and kept the rest in the boot of the car, knowing we could get more if we needed it.

You might find it useful on TikTok/youtube to watch either second time mums videos or those where they go through and say what they did or didn’t use. I’m debating making one because it feels so much easier the second time around!

Does anyone else despise being pregnant, I’m super grateful for baby but I just hate how I am when I am up the duff 😂😂😂
