Yes, that's exactly what it feels like! Perfect description! I wonder if it's related to how we carry? I presume further back if less of a bump so perhaps more strain being put on everything.

Oh blimey! Is there any treatment you can have to help?
Physio and rest pretty much. I had a super physical jobs which was just impossible and they were crap at offering alternative work to do so sick leave was my only option really. Plus I have 3 other young kids at home without help so rest both just wasn't possible between home life and work!

Thanks everyone for replies re sick people! I decided to avoid and feeling very happy with that decision!

When did people tell work? I’d keep quiet but….

I travel for work and I’ve got a big project coming up where I should be in the USA early April. I won’t be travelling, I’m high risk but even if I wasn’t I’d be around 23 weeks and there is no way I’d risk it.

One of my first meetings back at work is to discuss the project with my boss, my travel plans and the clients I’ll be meeting.

She’s expecting me to be in the States for at least 10 days 😬 and travelling to NYC and then Canada.

Im over thinking it but my job is all about travel and when im in the UK im working closely with our international clients to meet them and travel.

I’m worried about my job not the security of it but it will have to change by default of being pregnant. I suppose that’s something for my boss to navigate but has anyone else been in this situation?

I think I might just tell my boss I’m pregnant even though I’ll only be 9 weeks. She’s been supportive through my miscarriages and knows I’m high risk so I warned her months ago if I get pregnant I can’t travel.

I’m just looking for some reassurance x

Has anyone had baby slow down growth? I’m 32 weeks, had a growth scan today and it’s gone from 70th to just below the 50th centile. Got a repeat scan in 2 weeks

Your job is protected due to pregnancy. Your HR team should do a risk assessment when you tell them. If you’re unable to carry out your current role as is they will need to make adjustments for you

Thank you! I didn’t even think about HR.

I have a similar type of role that requires travel but not as far as the US or for as long. I managed to hold out telling them until 12 weeks with this pregnancy and they were very supportive, I’ve also been through a miscarriage and my first baby was born at 35 weeks (spontaneous labour) and wanted to avoid travelling abroad. So, as you say really it’s for your boss to navigate, I’m sure they will be understanding and as someone above said you can also reach out to HR. Your health and baby’s health come first!

my line manager/HR knew from 6 weeks - I’m a nurse and there are certain tasks which would have been dangerous (handling chemo etc). Like you my manager had known about a previous loss I’d had and we were actually fairly close so she knew I was trying again.

As others have said your job is protected and your pregnancy is your priority at the moment, my colleagues (who I think guessed due to the nature of things I was no longer doing) were also very supportive in picking up bits I couldn’t do. it’s for them (your management) to navigate and not for you to worry about 🥰

Thanks everyone for replies re sick people! I decided to avoid and feeling very happy with that decision!
It's everywhere at the moment! My partner had the flu the past two weeks and somehow I managed to avoid it but it's making me dread when baby is here and everyone wants to meet him. 🙃 we had a lot of cases of pneumonia the last fews I was at work in a nursery, more than normal.
---
So my due date is the 2nd and I have an appointment on the 3rd where they want to discuss induction. What's everyone's opinions? I'm reading lots of things counteracting each other and can't decide. I'm so ready for him though.

Hi everyone! Coming in here (nervously) as I've just found out I'm pregnant! I'm only about 4-5 weeks but I'm really scared as I had a miscarriage in April but I'm trying to remind myself that is a new pregnancy and I really hope we dont go through that again. Look forward to chatting to you all 🩷🩷 x
Hey everyone, just thought id update.
I've been cramping a bit today but nothing too bad, anyways I went to the toilet and there was bright red blood everywhere, I was sobbing because I instantly thought I was having a MC again. I went to the EPU and they examined me and my cervix was closed, couldn't see any bleeding from it or my tina. So they want to find out where it's coming from so I have a scan next week when I'll be about 5.5 weeks to check I'm still pregnant and if I am, that it's in the right place.
I just want to ask has anyone had bleeding this early on? When I saw it I went into panic mode. I'm not cramping anymore, just a few twinges every now and then x

We have the same due date and i have an appointment with my midwife on 2nd as well - I've already been offered a sweep last week and they've said they'll also offer me another one which I have declined and think I will decline again on Thursday.

I'm feeling okay, baby is moving regularly and my growth scan on Friday showed no problem. The midwife I saw last week said it sounded sensible not to do opt for induction or sweep if I felt okay ☺

I've always said to my husband that I don't want to intervene unless I have to so I think I'm going to just wait a few days after my due date and reassess things and hope labour will come on naturally. Obviously I know I'll have to go in for monitoring if nothing progresses but I'm okay with that and will do whatever is safest for baby girl at that point.

Obviously it's a personal choice but it depends on how you feel. Everything I have read about medical induction pointed to more pain relief being needed (especially epidural which I really want to avoid) so we shall see!

Best of luck with whatever you decide 🥰

I’m early on in my pregnancy but the (morning) sickness is ramping up. The one thing that is making me want to throw up is other people smelling. I don’t mean people who wash and shower and are hygienic but people who have stale smelling clothes or skip a few days showering. Normally I wouldn’t pick up on it but now it’s so vile I can smell people a mile off and it’s all the time. I was in John Lewis yesterday and nearly threw up because of a manky couple who smelt off and greasy.
🤣🤣 This has been me through my whole pregnancy. Absolutely everything stinks! At first I couldn't bare the smell of my partner 🤦 He doesn't smell bad but just his smell knocked me sick. The smell of the cold outdoors was the worst! In public everybody smells! I feel like I can constantly smell sh*te every isle I go down, it's not great.

Similar here to you and @mashedbananapancakes, my due date was yesterday and no sign of baby (although have been having awful false labour pains for weeks). I really don’t want to be induced for similar reasons but am going to have a sweep today as that worked for my first baby and I had a fast and uncomplicated delivery with her.

It’s a really difficult decision, particularly when you’re waiting beyond your due date. Mine was only yesterday and I’m already getting loads of texts asking whether baby is here FFS - leave me alone! I genuinely thought people would know better 😅

Yes, mine did. I had regular growth scans during this pregnancy as my first born was smaller than expected. Slower growth was around 33weeks maybe? But by the next scan a few weeks later, everything was back to normal again. I'm nearly 40weeks now

Try not to panic which I know is easier said than done. I’ve been in and out the EPU with cramps and some others on here have had bleeding too which can be implantation bleeding. Try to relax as much as possible and wait for the scan unless the bleeding or pain gets worse
Sending you love ❤

I don't see why they want to discuss induction so early? As dates can be out by 2 weeks, unless you know exactly when you conceived, you might not even be full term for another couple of weeks. Personally from everything I have researched, I will not be opting for one unless medically necessary. You can ask for more monitoring and if there's indication that the placenta is starting to fail, you can always opt for one then. I'm really skeptical of how quickly induction is offered now. Both of my friends were almost forced into one at 39 weeks for no apparent reason, but they both declined as they felt there wasn't any reason for it. Both went into spontaneous labour naturally a week or so later.

Ah best wishes to you!

If I decide anything I think it will be a sweep rather than anything else i think - I'm trying to go with minimal medical intervention!

I'm really lucky that I've not had any texts asking if baby is here - I don't think I have enough friends for that 😂 MIL has text husband a few times but he's said that we'll let people know when anything happens!

I know SO many people who were offered induction so very early on, some from 37 weeks with no real reason at all. But part of me thinks it's to try and manage the amount of people on labour and delivery wards but it's also trust dependent too I think.

We were told very early on that we could opt for induction on due date which I didn't like the idea of at all straight away!

That’s super helpful thank you ❤ a few months back I was In the Middle East for a week, flew home, a few days later was in the states for the rest of the month.
I’ve had two mc and high risk anyway I’m just not putting my baby in any risk at all
I’ve read about reasonable adjustments in your work place during pregnancy and this has helped with my worries regarding my job x

In my first pregnancy I was induced 2 weeks past my due date- although my due date was 4/5 days earlier than I knew it should be based on the fact I knew what date I’d ovulated. This time I’m not going to consider it until at least 2 weeks past my date. It wasn’t a great experience for me and ended up with epidural and forceps delivery.
It doesn’t do any harm to book one in- you can always delay it. I’d also recommend looking for positive induction stories to help prepare you. I hadn’t done enough mental preparation for an induction and it hit me like a steam train!
