We hadn't found out the gender and apparently the look on my face when I was told she was a girl was an absolute treat as I was convinced we'd get another boyI know I've not really posted on this thread and it's probably very late to start now haha. 40 weeks today and woke up feeling crampy with some slight browny coloured discharge. Roll on this evening after a few hours at soft play with my toddler (yes I know I'm mad but his dad did the majority of the running around

What a lovely way to start off the New Year!Haha that's exactly it. Unfortunately it only got more frequent for me as baby's head is further down into my pelvis. just another update, I was back in EPU tonight with more bright red bleeding and cramping
Have they not scanned you yet? I had this (although a little later) and was never examined, only ever scanned. it was a subcronic hematoma. I bled on and off until 13 weeks.just another update, I was back in EPU tonight with more bright red bleeding and cramping
They examined me again and said that my cervix is still closed and they can see minimal bleeding. I don't get what's going on? They won't scan me until Monday because they won't see much right now as I'm only 4.5 weeks. I don't know what to think or feel?
The bright red bleeding i had on 29th December went away and turned into spotting, then back to bright red again. I'm so confused x
a lot of EPUs will only scan at 6+ weeks as nothing can be seen before then (in terms of viability) x
I had an elective section with my first so I’m happy to answer any questions if you have them. It was 100% the right choice for me at the time and I have no regrets!I had my appointment to discuss opting for an elective c section (I know not everyone's first choice, but the right choice for me!)
It went so smoothly, the doctor was understanding and had no issues with me going for it. I feel SO relieved that I don't have to worry about that now.
5 weeks left at work today! I'm over it. I've been over it since I found out in June
no they won't scan me because I'm so early and they don't want to add more worry for me if they don't see anything. I'm hoping it's something like a hematoma but there's so much blood that I'm not feeling hopeful x
It depends. You’ll have a catheter which stays put while you get all feeling back. You need to have passed a certain amount of urine after it’s removed and been able to get up and move around before you can leave so it’s usually an overnight stay. In most places once you leave it’s just paracetamol and ibuprofen you buy and take yourself at home so you’ll probably want at least 24hrs of better pain relief at the hospital before you leave too. They won’t let you leave if you actively don’t think you can cope without it in my experience.
I had to stay at least 24 hours from birth. I went in for 7am but didn’t go down for the section until later on. Ended up there 34 hours with that wait before and then waiting to be discharged with pain relief
They can’t force you to stay, you could self discharge, but I wouldn’t advise it.
My baby was born by elective section at 11am and only had my catheter removed at just gone midnight. I left after lunch the next day so literally just over 24 hours. I would have felt okay to have left in the morning when my husband came back, but we were still waiting for baby’s health checks and didn’t see the point in going home and coming back for them.
I didn’t feel it at all, I don’t know if this is because I was still a bit numb/on pain meds or what but not painful for me at all.Thank you for all of your replies

Also opting for the C-section, do I need like a particular reason for them to allow me to have one? I want one purely because I do not want a vaginal birth/the pain/ the potential tearing etc. But is that a good enough reason? I also have anticipatory anxiety and I think this is why I like to know everything in advance so I can be prepared. The thought of a vaginal birth seems like chaos to me.

I see my midwife next week so going to tell her that's what I want and go from there.I’ve had a catheter in and out for an pregnancy-unrelated urinary surgery years ago, I was under anaesthetic when it was put in but it was taken out a few hours later it was like a bit of a tug and tightness? A weird feeling but not painful. the first pee after is a bit stingy just because ur urethra is a bit irritated from the catheter tube but after that wouldn’t have noticed id had it in.Thank you for all of your replies
