I’ve suffered with HG in both pregnancies and it really is the worst. I considered a termination with both and they were extremely wanted and planned pregnancies, but it got to the point where I genuinely thought I was going to die.

Please go to the doctors and ask for anti-emetics - there’s lots you can try so don’t be afraid to keep going back until you get the combination that works for you. The ‘pregnancy sickness support’ page on Instagram is brilliant, and they can give advice on what to ask for at the GP if you’re met with resistance.

sending love x
Thank you, I never thought to look for groups on Instagram. I had my head in the toilet last night thinking what have I done?! My youngest is a dream, full time school, I’ve a career and life’s hectic but happy and manageable and then I’m gonna be starting all over again! But it’s something I’ve always wanted (to have more) and my youngest has always wanted a sibling. I know it’ll be ok, just a really rough week! Xx

Anyone know what cough medicine is safe to take during pregnancy? I've got a nasty cough and it's keeping me awake. I'm going to go to the pharmacy and ask but if it was anything like last time it was the cycle of no one wanting to take liability and saying to ask the GP who said ask the pharmacist 🤦🏻‍♀️

There was one with the tiniest amount of alcohol they wouldn’t let me have because pregnancy, they can definitely be over cautious.

Re sickness, don’t suffer, they can certainly medicate you and go back again if their first line treatment doesn’t work.

I had a cocktail of vaccines yesterday (flu, RSV, anti-d) and boy howdy am I feeling rough today. 😅

41+1 today and I’m soooo fed up.
fed up of people messaging every single day asking if there’s any news and constantly repeating ourselves telling them that as soon as there is we will share straight away 😩

3 sweeps, nothing has changed. I have an induction booked in for next week. I’m desperate for it to come naturally as I want to be on the birthing unit not labour ward but the days are just passing by without any signs 🤷🏻‍♀️

That was the same for me! An induction doesn’t necessarily rule you out for being able to give birth in the birthing suite though so don’t panic. I was induced with the gel which worked straight away. I was told there was a birthing room free after a couple of hours but by then I knew I was going to need an epidural so waited for a labour room!

We’ve had to stay in hospital for two days because of a hematoma and risk of jaundice and the biggest advice I can give you if it’s annoying you people mithering before birth is don’t tell them your in labour because they do not leave you alone!

I know they mean well but I’m shattered, running off no sleep - no I don’t know when we’re coming home and no I don’t want any more sleep suits 😂

Thanks, I'll look into it. On the lemon and honey for the minute which soothes my throat but does nothing for the cough.

Guys. Need your help. My next door had a baby. I briefly saw them today and a new mum said she feels down and very overwhelmed. We are not close at all, but I want to gift something. I am not sure what though. I’m not really clued up. Card and Boots voucher? Or just whole 3 month supply of nappies?

Oh and I was rude when she said she wasn’t feeling all that, I said you have another few years of that. Only realised I was an hole a minute ago

I would buy something for her rather than the baby, everyone buys stuff for the baby! So some home pampering stuff? Face masks? Bath stuff? Or even cook a meal or vouchers for somewhere like Cook that do decent ready meals. Something along those lines! You could throw in some nappies too 😂.

Honestly I’ve had an overwhelming amount of face masks, bath stuff etc and I have no idea when I’ll use it (baby is 10 days old)
I think a voucher would be nice or even offer to do a shop or see if she wants to go for a coffee x

I would say something food related because she probably has no time for a decent meal. It could be that you make her some meals that could be frozen, or you make her up a little hamper of nice bits and pieces. I've been collecting all my favourite sweets treats and chocolate bars in a tin for once baby comes so there's always nice things in. Or a voucher for a local take away/restaurant or something if that's possible?

I had to be induced during my last labour and I felt the same, really didn’t want to but medically had to - I was still able to go the birthing centre so fingers crossed for you ☺

An update from me!
After 4 days in bed with no food and very little fluids, I got an out of hours app at the hospital last night. They said they could admit me to give me IV fluids as I’m severely dehydrated, but said to go home with anti sickness and codeine first. I’m still really rough but did get a bit more sleep last night. GP said if no better tomorrow, get admitted for the fluids. Cannot wait to start feeling human again!!

My favourite post partum gift was an afternoon tea delivered in a box. It was from ‘piglets pantry’, the contents was decent and lasted us a few days🥰

It's officially my due date. Of course, there's no signs at all of any labour. I know most people don't give birth on their due date but I've felt so miserable the last few weeks, I've really been hoping i'd have felt something by now.

Keep going 🩷 I remember feeling the same last time and had a while to do. Try think of it that your baby needs a bit more time, they’re warm and safe and snug. Hope all goes well when the time comes xxx

Hi everyone can someone help me please 😭😢 I went for a private scan on Friday thinking I was 7 weeks but sonographer put me at 6w 3 days. My LMP was 12 th October but I know for definite when we conceived which would have been two weeks later 23rd or 24th. If I count from my conception date and when I ovulated that would put me at five weeks? The reason I’m so upset is she could just see a gestational sac no yolk sac or embryo 😭😢😢 and a small bleed on the right side. I have to go back next weekend but I’ve fallen into the worst depression and don’t know how I will get through this week 😢😢 has anyone had this happen?

Was it an internal or external scan, if you don’t mind me asking? I think it would be pretty rare to see the embryo that early with an external scan, not sure on internal as I’ve never had one while pregnant. I’ve had my dates put back in both pregnancies, so it is common, especially early days. I’ve also had bleeds in both.

Sending lots of love, hoping you have a more positive experience next weekend!

Was this a private scan or NHS? I know the private ones technology isn’t usually quite as good as NHS - might be worth contacting your early pregnancy unit if the scan wasn’t there and you’re concerned.

Edit: just seen you said private, sorry! If I were you, I’d contact your EPU. I’m surprised they didn’t advise that to be fair, private scans aren’t diagnostic so they wouldn’t be able to tell you much next weekend, but will happily take another scan fee off you!
