I'm 14 weeks with my first baby and dying to know if it's a girl or boy. What's people's options on early gender scans ?

Awww that's shit for you! Why can't they do anything today? I know everywhere is busy but surely they can give you something, even a telephone appointment.
No idea. Said all they had left was an emergency appt but obviously I know I don’t qualify for that. She said to try again tomorrow morning at 8:30 so that’s my last hope. Fed up of not being able to eat and feeling sick all the time

Has anyone had any experience with baby’s weight slowing down. Had a growth scan at 34 weeks and was told baby had stopped following her line and fallen under the 10th centile..awaiting someone to ring me tomorrow but just looking for any advice?
Sorry I know this was posted a while ago but I have small for dates babies. None of my 3 girls have been over 6lbs, my heaviest was 5lb 10oz. I'm pregnant with fourth and they are now saying I need frequent growth scans and have given me 150mg asprin to take which is supposed to help. My last baby kept dropping off her line that they induced me at 37 weeks. By the time she was a year old she weighed more than her 2 year old sister!!! She was born 5lb 1oz but grew into a chunk with rolls everywhere. I'm very tall but very slim myself and I don't think I'm meant to have big babies!

Early days into second pregnancy and looking like I have HG again. Do we have any other HG mums on this thread?
Hi! Had HG with my first and spent the first week or so of my second feeling super cocky that I thought I’d escaped it this time. Week 6 hit and I feel dreadful. Still hoping it’s ‘normal’ morning sickness but I’m starting to lean more towards HG with how I’ve been today.

It’s a minefield! The only thing I stopped using is retinol. I didn’t bother looking into other ingredients that closely - my recommendations would be:

- any under eye cream with caffeine and vitamin c will help with dark circles (this one from Origins is amazing and they also do a matching tinted face cream which is so great to slap on in the morning and make you look awake https://www.origins.com/product/153...ghtening-eye-cream-with-vitamin-c-niacinamide) the caffeine is in such tiny amounts it won’t be an issue and niacinamide is preganancy safe.

- for a concealer that actually works I use this one from Rodial - I’ve tried so many and this one actually covers dark circles: https://www.lookfantastic.com/p/rodial-banana-low-lighter-5.5ml/12062520/

Overall though key is to keep them moisturised, there’s nothing scientific that will properly combat dark circles as they are genetic/to do with blood flow. 🩷
Thank you so much x
Yeah it was retinol I saw that it had unfortunately!

Yeah I seem to have always been unlucky with the dark circles and I don’t always have time to put anything on and try cover them up in the mornings with a toddler around, they look so bad right now it’s embarrassing 😭

I'm 14 weeks with 4th baby and I just cannot cope with the horrendous burning pain in my breast particularly my left one and its 100% worse in the cold or if I don't have a bra on. I cannot touch my breadt, if clothes rub on them it's excruciating. Any ideas. Never had this before. I wondered if it could be raynauds of the breast as I have raynauds.

I'm sorry to hear this. My dad was trying to ask me about our names this weekend but I wouldn't say. I honestly can just see him coming over for weeks after our baby is born and saying this like, are you sure about this name? What.abour this name instead etc?
Nooo cos this will be my mum also 😭😂 my dad won’t mind at all but my mum is so overbearing. Such a small stupid thing but it’s made my pregnancy hormones rage haha

If I continue to be a low risk pregnancy then I can give birth in my hospitals mid-wife led unit which has private rooms. But if there's complications or I want an epidural then I'd be moved to a consultant led unit and would be moved onto a ward after birth with other women. I really hope I can stay on the midwife unit and have a nice private room but who knows what will happen.
I’m the same - it’s just the mystery around it. I hate not knowing where I’ll end up, whereas in most other countries it’s just one less thing to worry about.

Definitely we had a motorway crash when babe was 10 weeks old and we were using the joie 360… built like a tank. Plus really good to change a nappy on the go you can just swivel it around to face you when you stop :)

Thank you!! Very glad you’ve said this as we’re still debating but think we’re going to go for that one

Can anyone help with what happens at the first scan/app mainly with your blood test. I’m in Scotland (if this makes any difference) do you get your scan first and then do you go and see a nurse and get your bloods taken for the additional screening? Not sure how long to tell my work I’ll be away for as they don’t know yet. Thank you!
I’m in Scotland too and the whole thing (scan followed by screening bloods) took just over half an hour, but only because they had to stick me three times as my body absolutely refused to give up the goods. 🤣 Maybe tell work you’ll be gone an hour just in case you’re waiting longer for your appointment.

Did anyone else feel a huge change when they hit 34 weeks?

I’m just over 34weeks and the pressure in my pelvis has intensified, I’m 100% sure baby’s head is now engaged, the pressure in my back, thighs…and the braxton hicks are now happening in the day rather than just in bed.
It’s quite annoying as I only have 5 shifts left at work, but right now I can barely see me getting through the next night shift 🤯

I felt absolutely fine until I got this point 😂
Yep.. I’m 35 weeks now and had all manner of really debilitating issues this week 😫

Has anyone tried the Momcozy lactation massager or their S12 breast pump? My workplace has point rewards and I’ve got enough points for either the massager or the breast pump - they’ve got good reviews but wanted to know if anyone on here has experience with them. 🥰

Did anyone do/is anyone planning to do colostrum harvesting? That + perineum massage being two things I should do from now on is giving me a bit of ick 😩
I have watched a few videos on TikTok about it and it makes me feel really queasy.
then my midwife apt this week we were discussing what feeding I’d like to do and I said preferably breastfeed if baby latches. So then she said at 36 weeks she will go through collecting colostrum with me and demonstrate on her knitted boob and supply me with syringes and was telling me the benefits of it etc

but the thought of milking myself makes me really queasy 🤢🥲

Mine did appear but I found Badger very unpredictable and unreliable.. when’s your next midwife appt? You could call them and see if you can find out over the phone as they should have the info
I am finding it really unreliable too! It’s next Wednesday, which isn’t too long to wait I suppose

Does anyone know if I happen to go overdue with my baby, can I request a c-section instead of being induced?

I plan to ask my midwife at my next appointment as my preference would be to have a c-section date booked in if I’ve not gone into spontaneous labour. But I just want to know if anyone knows if that’s possible and when I’d be able to request it?

I hope that makes sense!
Yes you absolutely can. I always told my midwife if they ever felt the need to induce me then I’d be requesting a c section instead and she was happy with this. I’d probably let them know sooner rather than later. so some people hope for spontaneous and book in an induction for say 31 weeks just in case, so the same idea for you, however you may have a few hoops to jump through first eg be lectured on the risk of c section etc
It may vary trust to trust, so the sooner you make them aware of this the better I think X
