28 weeks but I don’t feel the baby kick much. I read online that you should feel your baby move more or less every hour but I only feel her move mornings and evenings. Is anyone else in the same boat? I have a posterior placenta

Trigger warning: abortion

Me and my partner have been discussing me coming off the pill and trying for our first baby together. I’m 29 and have been on the pill (rigevidon) for probably over 10 years now. I did get pregnant when I was 16 (mistake with first boyfriend) and we decided to terminate the pregnancy as I was still at school and we both weren’t ready. Is there anything set in stone how to quickly I can get pregnant coming off the pill? Will my body take a long time to go back to normal after being on the pill for so long? My period is very regular I always take it on my week break from the pill.
I got pregnant the first month after coming off the pill, it was the Oveanette combined pill and like you I had been on it for years. I was very lucky! Fingers crossed you have the same luck 🤞🏻❤

Hi cob
Has anyone had any experience with baby’s weight slowing down. Had a growth scan at 34 weeks and was told baby had stopped following her line and fallen under the 10th centile..awaiting someone to ring me tomorrow but just looking for any advice?
Hi I’m so sorry you’re going through this and I hope you don’t mind me reaching out I’m 28 weeks and baby is on 2.5th centile. I’m not really sure what to expect; but I just wanted to let you know I’m in the same situation and I’m wishing you all the best for a healthy arrival x

I was the same. It did get better I’d say around 8 weeks, but I’ve been consistently hungry throughout and I’m now 30 weeks. I can’t wait to be able to eat and feel full 😅
Did it cause you to gain a lot of extra weight (baby aside) or not really make much of a difference? It's ridiculous. Had a massive bowl of pasta for dinner and now I'm lying in bed and my stomach is growling like I haven't eaten for a week and I know the hunger pangs will keep me awake

I’ve been offered a sweep at 38+2 and I’m really unsure if to go ahead with it or wait a week until I’m 39+2 instead. Please could anyone let me know their experiences with sweeps and any statistics/facts/pros/cons that might help me make up my mind😣 My worry is that my body wont be ready and it will end up really hurting, but at the same time I am very ready for baby to be here now.

Ours lets one birthing partner stay with you the whole time but they can’t come and go 9pm-9am (I think those times) and they don’t get fed, can’t shower etc.
My mum came up for visiting hours but they weren’t strict about her leaving at all.
Initially I was in the bay (of 6) where the window was to the inside and it happened to be the nurses station but when one became empty next to the outside window I asked if I could move as we potentially had a long stay and they obliged, no questions.

Re birthing plan it’s really down to you the midwife can help explain the options. You’ll decide things like what, if any, pain relief you’d like, if you’d want to be cut or tear naturally should it arise, if you want music & lighting, how much assistance, partners role, vitamin K, partner to cut the cord, skin to skin/placed directly into you before baby is cleaned up, delayed cord clamping and so on. It’s all just preferences of course and if you’re unsure you can just say you want to go with the flow.
Our midwife led unit is opposite the delivery suite so it’s a quick switch if needed, I believe that’s common. You can’t have epidural and water for instance but you can start in the water and change your mind, nothing is set in stone unless it’s too late/contraindicated.

To give an idea, the month my oldest was born, and it was Covid but it’s usually similar, there were 313 delivery suite and 49 midwife led (18 at home) which I found surprising as it was sort of implied midwife led was very common. 40% were CS split almost evenly between ECS and planned. 10% of vaginal births were assisted, 34% inductions.

I’m still very early days 5w2d - but I’m noticing I seem to get super nauseous in the evenings? So far I feel normal in the morning, it’s just the evenings it really seems to hit me.

Also my nipples have been fully hard for the last 2 weeks and the thought of my husband being anywhere near them makes me wince 😫. Even a cuddle hurts! :ROFLMAO:
I’m the exact same with the evening nausea - nothing during the day but around dinner time I start feeling sick and can’t face food

I've been told I will have consultant led care for my current pregnancy due to my previous gestational hypertension induction. Can anyone advise me on what this means/entails? Had my booking appointment tonight and I've struggled to retain what the midwife said 🙃 thank you in advance x
I was meant to be consultant lead due to history of depression, had one phone call at about 18 weeks and that's been it 🙃 I have had weekly growth scans from 28 weeks but that was due to being a smoker so I think it really varies from trust to trust!

We had our first NCT group last night. I only really booked it because I wanted to meet other people whose babies will be growing up at the same time as mine, but I really enjoyed it! It was just the right mix of information and casual chat. I have heard that Bump & Baby Club is better for diversity, but they don't run one in our area so I can't confirm whether that's true.
When you book you choose which one is suitable depending on your due date! They do fill up fairly quickly though

My cycle took 6 months to return to normal after coming off. Got pregnant first cycle after first 'normal' period.

Has anyone had any experiences with carpal tunnel? I was awake most of last night cause my fingers were really painful. I've been wearing wrist supports but they haven't been helping at all now.

Seen as I’m over 37 weeks now, I’ve started collecting colostrum. I only finished feeding my daughter a year ago, but I’ve managed to get 60ml just by hand expressing for 15 mins 😶 I don’t think I actually gave myself time for the milk to dry up judging by that 🤣
Well done! For some reason I’m terrified to try this. I need to try but I can’t massage myself for 10 mins without giving myself the ick for some reason 😩😩

do they have a side room they can move you to if it becomes available if you’re not already? That helped me massively, rather than being in a bay with inductions and ctg’s, I also wasn’t at the point where they could use anything but a Doppler to listen in.

Sending love 🫶
I’m not sure if they do. The ward was full last night but now there’s only 1 other person in here. So it’s been a nice peaceful and restful afternoon. I’d love if it stayed that way 😂

Really hoping I’m just here tonight and that’s it !

I've been really suffering with this recently. The wrist supports help a little overnight but there's still a fair bit of pain. The most random every day tasks are so difficult now! I found some exercises online as well which I'm hoping will help over time.

We had a scan at 16 weeks and the sonographer said he was 100% sure of the sex. Had our 20 week nhs scan last week and the sonographer said she thinks she knows what the gender is. Put the emoji on to cover what they think gender is lol

Any thoughts?

I had a breech baby turned. The procedure wasn’t remotely as bad as I’d heard. This time they turned themselves, can’t remember the week but late.
Ultimately I had an emergency c-section both times, which I can’t deny isn’t best case but I’d say I’ve never heard a bad story about the procedure during a planned C-section.
You have time to wait and see if baby turns or can be turned. I’d be inclined to say don’t stress about it yet as the stress in itself can turn it into an even bigger worry. If it comes to it you need to look at the statistics relevant to you, your age, weight, pregnancy history. What’s right for one, won’t be for another.

Combi feeder here.
White noise - up to you, I got one this time, Dreamegg and it’s good but baby doesn’t care for it. They can be magic machines for babies that make the sleep association but mine hasn’t, I haven’t got my act together to take it about for every nap.

Groegg - was given one last time, it broke and I replaced with a 2 pack from amazon thermometers, about £7, these were fine. This time I didn’t bother. You can generally feel if a room or baby is too hot or cold. Expensive gimmick to prey on new mum’s fears imo however, we do have those fears so again, up to you, but a cheap one does the job.

Prep machine - depends how much formula you plan to do. I rate the Rapid cool if only doing one or two a day and I’d have one of these for out and about anyway. You can get prep machines next day delivery so I’d hold off and use pre-made/rapid cool for the first while to see how you go. I also wouldn’t buy too many bottles in ass you don’t use/baby doesn’t like.

Breast pump - A manual one might be handy right at the start but you’re advised not to so you don’t create an over supply. I’d probably hold off altogether until you know if you’re going to stick with breast feeding at all and tbh if you’re combi, you can just use formula for bottles, there’s no need to pump really (again, can create over supply if you don’t do the same every day). If you do go electric you can to work out your flange size as it’s not a one for all affair and this is the most important element but again I have a no wires random Amazon one with just 2 settings and the flange it came with, it does the job.

Steraliser - Milton cold water all the way. Microwave bags are handy for travel, I have ‘Munchkin’ brand.

Work out what you’d like and add to an Amazon baby wish list now then they’re there if you need them, research done. Or buy just before due date so you’ve got them but don’t open them unless you need to and send back what you don’t use.
Don’t buy anything electric too far in advance as you’ll miss the return/eat up warranty time if it doesn’t work/suit you.
---

My age was never mentioned at all when I was 37, this one I was 42 so advanced maternal age but no mention of increased risk of downs (I know there was but they never said). It must vary by trust as to what they say but it’s a bit off to worry people like that!
Thank you so much, that’s so helpful! 🩷

For those mentioning that they’d rather be scheduled for a c-section than be induced, could I ask for insight on the reasoning behind this? I’m wondering if this is something I should consider myself, especially since I want to avoid an induction as long as possible.

Our baby boy arrived earlier this week via emergency c section 🥰
omg has it been wild and such a strange blur 😅
It’s all so overwhelming and I feel like I don’t have a clue what I’m doing with him or if I’m doing the right things.
my milk still hasn’t come in yet which I think is adding to all the stress but hoping it will soon 🤞🏻

Anyone waiting for their babies I hope they’re with you soon!
also I packed so much stuff in my hospital bag and used about 3 things 🤣
The best thing I took was a portable nightlight (just got off Amazon that does different colours etc) for when we were on the ward. Also if you’re hoping to breastfeed buy the silverette things - I decided to wait and see how I got on and holy moly did I regret that while I was waiting for Amazon to deliver them!
Ahh congratulations! Good tips 🩷
