Two fun tales to share of the glamour of pregnancy…

Last Friday I ended up in the maternity unit as I thought my waters had broken… turns out it was just excess discharge from a nasty case of thrush! How DELIGHTFUL. Thankfully that’s now been treated.

But a week later (so last night) I thought I’d be there again as I am having so much pelvic pressure and then started having what felt like regular, intense period/gas pains. Were they contractions, were they false labour, were they Braxton Hicks, was it gas/needing a poo?!?

I hate how unpredictable everything is and how everything can be mistaken for something else!

I’m 39+3 and scheduled for an ELCS on Monday (posting this Saturday morning, the “contractions” have passed but I’ve deffo lost my mucus plug last night!)

Anyone else relate? I hope I can cling on til Monday, I still have to sort a few bits out 🙈

Make sure you let the hospital know! When I had my ELCS, the other woman who was initially meant to go in the afternoon ended up being put through first because she’d started in labour, so they do prioritise.

Ended up in hospital again last night due to HG. Had anti-sickness injection and plenty of fluids, feeling slightly better this morning but now got the runs😅 literally can’t catch a break!

Picked up our travel system and why is everything so bloody technical 🤣 so many buttons and the car seat is so confusing it almost ended in a divorce putting it all together and working out what’s what hahahah
We haven't even attempted the car seat yet but we had a similar experience putting the buggy together. So stressful

Omg this! I had a bit of a stomach bug last week and the whole time I was like "Am I sure that's what this pain is though? Could it be baby?" Thankfully we had a growth scan yesterday and confirmed baby is fine.

I'm also finding that treating one issue makes another one worse atm which is so annoying. I've been given some physio stretches to do to reduce pelvic pain but I can't do some of them now because they make my carpal tunnel syndrome worse!

Sometimes I just sit and look through our scan photos to remind me that this will all be worth it when baby is here 🥰

I’m 21 weeks now and starting to struggle falling and staying asleep, constantly wake up with a bad back. Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy pillow?

Mr Rosey got me this Koala pregnancy pillow and it has been a life changer! I’ve been sleeping so much better with it. It’s an 8 in 1 pillow with a bit underneath/behind me to stop me rolling onto my back. It can also be used as a breastfeeding pillow and supports tummy time and other things. It’s not available at the moment but it comes back in stock frequently.

Only 4 weeks 4 days but the nausea is starting to get to me. The thought of food has been making me feel queasy for a few days now.
Anyone got any good tips to cope with it?

mine is the bbhugme (can get them from John Lewis and Mamas and Papas) and it has saved my life!! My husband and dog have enjoyed using it too 😂

I was the same as you, felt so sicky from day 1, I feel your pain. I used the Myrtle and Maude Ultimate Morning Sickness pregnancy kit, the travel bands combined with the Queasy Days peppermint Bon bons really helped (I didn’t really need the rest of the kit so would buy those 2 things on their own next time!)
Also Ryvita crackerbread… the one that’s like polystyrene 😂 ate it by the boxload, buttered it or topped it with Philadelphia if I was feeling adventurous. it was the only thing I could stomach before 5pm for weeks!

Currently 31 weeks pregnant with a head down baby, or at least it was at 29 weeks.

I seem to be having lots of movement low in my belly but not kicks, more like rolling/movement from side to side - could this be the head? I also randomly get a small hard round lump that stretches out to my right side - could this be a foot?

I keep thinking she might have flipped positions so just wondered if anyone else has the same, as I keep reading head down babies make the most movement under the ribs.

I also seem to have 2 bulges either side of my belly button so I can't work out where her back is. Basically.. I'm confused!!

Baby is probably still changing position a fair bit still at 31 weeks. Hopefully they get comfy in head down for you and stay there!

Question I'm hoping you can help with so I know if I'm being unfair... how late in your pregnancy would you say is ok for partner/husband to go abroad?
He's been asked to a stag do when I'll be 34 weeks or more (not had 12 week scan yet and think they are going to move my due date sooner), it's to a European city for a few nights. Do you think this is too late?

I’ve been having a digestive biscuit first thing, but the main thing that’s helped is these tablets. Made the sickness disappear completely to the extent I was worried something was wrong! I stopped taking for a day or two to see if I was still getting sickness and it did return.

My ex went to Amsterdam for a lads holiday (not a stag or anything) when I was 34sih weeks. Wasn’t a problem, baby didn’t come until 41 weeks anyway hope that helps!
I was originally supposed to be going as well so was slightly gutted haha

I think it could be okay?

I wouldn’t let my partner go away that late personally but we also have a toddler already so for me it mostly just sounds tiring parenting alone 😂

My partner routinely goes away with work (min. 2 nights) he has one more in early November, and had already said he can’t travel in December or January (from when I turn 34 weeks funnily enough 😂)
In saying that though he’s more stressed than me about the whole thing 😂

Little and often. I don’t think I had a full meal for months. I lived off ginger biscuits, rich tea biscuits, dry cereal, ready salted Pringles and also ice lollies really helped me! ❤

I’m 34 weeks and keep getting random feet or hands or something at my sides can’t for the life of me figure out which ones they are 😂 could be the head for all I know. I have no idea how the midwives can tell what body part is which because they all just feel the same to me

So confusing isn't it! My midwife told me she was breach but I had a 4d scan the next day which to my suprised confirmed she was head down and right near my bladder.

I think 34 weeks is fine! Mine is going on a 3 night training course when I'm 37 weeks. Same country but 3-4 hours away x

how are you doing now @anything at all? I’ve been thinking about you x
Thank you x
I got to come home on Wednesday, still been having the odd bit of old brown blood :/ but thankfully nothing fresh and red otherwise I’ll have to go stay in again

I have felt quite dizzy and faint at times, I did call yesterday to ask if I should be worried and they didn’t really seem concerned but said I should try my Drs Monday to see if they would check my iron since it’s been pretty borderline the last time it was checked.

I do feel loads better today though so might just see how it goes ! But yeah very happy to be home and hopefully all stays okay now!
