im 36 weeks due mid june, but do i still need to bring a wooly hat for when she's born?? or just the standard not too thick cotton ones? bit confusing as I'm sure they always like to cover baby head when born i haven't brought a wooly one  also i haven't brought any cold day outfits, i have cardigans and stuff but no pram suits is that stupid?should buy one incase its really cold?
---
also I've brought 2 boxes of ready to feed milk just incase but i haven't done any research on how to make a bottle incase i cant breastfeed.. i have brought bottles and stuff incase too but maybe I'm being naive thinking breastfeeding will work I'm panicking bit now should i buy all things for bottle feeding like the rapid cool etc or just wait

the hospital will have a woolly one to put on when she’s born then I think normal cotton ones should be fine. I was always told never to wear a hat indoors anyway because they’ll over heat so I think mid June should probably be fine.

just wait and see how feeding goes as it might all be a waste of money and if it’s sitting there you’re likely just to give up and go straight to formula!

Our hospital provided the first wooly hat, but after that we didn’t use one as it was so warm - they don’t advise hats to be worn inside after the first one they initially wear. You may want one for the way home but just a standard one would be fine. Personally wouldn’t bother with a pram suit. A normal outfit should be fine, if there’s a chill then a blanket and cardigan should be enough. I had a July baby and didn’t use a pram suit until October.

I’d say as long as you have bottles and some formula you’ll be okay. Make sure you know how to make up a bottle if needed. You can grab a rapid cool next day delivery if it doesn’t work out and you end up needing one ☺

thank you! and yeah I'm only thinking hospital wise  ill just take 2 cotton ones, and yeah exactlywhat most people have said to me, kind of scared how hard breastfeeding might be as I've kind of had my heart set on just ebf hope i don't get upset if i cant, buti can just imagine a screaming hungry baby wanting milk and nothing coming out at 4 am and i cant go to the shop to get formula or something:oops:

No idea about the hat but I'm due not ling after you and been thinking this!
For the formula stuff if breastfeeding doesn't work for you for whatever reason, all the things you need are so easy to get either the same day or next day on amazon so I wouldn't waste your money until you know it's something you will use, it can get quite expensive buying all the bits and jd gate for you to waste your money!

thank you guys, I'm so unsure weather to get just one box but i don't want the temptation to give up bf if I'm struggling but i just have a feeling ill be too overwhelmed and give up :( i hope not, and yeah I'm thinking no pram suit i can always buy one if needed,
i think I've already brought a lot of things i will not need for "just in case" which is silly to be honest
---
i better get an amazon prime subscription tho for june as i bet theres things I've forgot and will need same day:ROFLMAO:

Don't worry you're not alone, I quite literally pissed myself laughing at something my boyfriend did last night and then couldn't stop laughing at the fact I had wet myself either which made it worse 😂

just remember that a newborn babies stomach is the size of a marble and they really don’t need much those first few days ❤ lots of cuddles and skin to skin will help x

You could get a couple of bottles of pre made and If you’ve got a microwave, the Mam self sterilising bottle and that’s literally all you’ll need for the first few weeks. You can use it straight from the bottle.
Some microwave steriliser bags or Milton tablets you can drop into a Tupperware of water are another fine option if you have different bottles already.

Breast feeding can be so hard to get going, I won’t sugar coat it. But, baby having one bottle does not mean the end of it, neither does 2-3.
The only way to know at first of baby is getting enough is weight and to watch their cues so have a read up on hunger cues and signs they are full.
Have a see where you’re local baby scales are (should be a library) so you can weigh them if you’re worried.
Don’t be tempted to give a bottle ‘in case’ they’re not getting enough, they’ll let you know.
Try to do the overnight feeds from the boob because these are the best ones for establishing milk supply due to hormone levels.
Breast shields they feed through can really help if you’re sore.
Also look at different holds and latching techniques if you struggle. The ‘flipple’ is a goodie. And ensure they check for tongue tie if it’s really painful.
Overall, just remember it’s not an all of nothing journey that has to start at day 1.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s bladder is the enemy and that I got my pads already because this cold has kicked my pelvic floors through 😩

Today I learnt pregnancy has affected my gums and after a clean and polish at the dentist I thought all my teeth were gonna fall out 🙃🙃🙃

has anybody whitened their teeth whilst pregnant? I started in December ready for my wedding and I have 2 syringes left, I really want to just top them up before I get married? Is this stupid idea? Dentist said my teeth were fine just a bit of bleeding.

Re hats our hospital don’t give them out we were repeatedly told to bring one with us. We took a cotton one and that was fine because it’s so hot everywhere in maternity everywhere and baby is obviously wrapped and then snuggled in for skin to skin anyway. He didn’t wear it after that apart when we had the window open in our hospital room because it was a sauna for us but not for him 🙈

With milk we took the little pre-made kendamil bottles and used a couple when he was getting stressed by all the midwife’s interference with breast feeding and he was getting hungry/too tired to feed. He’s fine with boob or bottle now and we combi feed.

Dummies we went with the same as his bottles to avoid confusion. He doesn’t really use it much though unless he’s really tired and then he’ll spit it out after a couple of minutes. I wasn’t going to use it at all but the midwife recommended it because apparently they reduce SIDs risks?? 🤷🏻‍♀️ he’d happily go without though

Our trust provide hats but I know it varies. It’s only for the first few hours as babies lose so much heat very quickly once they enter the world.
Obs are done once you’re on a postnatal ward and the hat can come off once the midwives are happy with the temp of baby ☺

So my husband has just picked up a swing someone gave to his gran for free, pretty much brand new. It’s the Joie Serina, I’ve initially moaned because it’s pink! But, it does look quite good and I can’t really complain we’ve got it for free. Will just need to switch up the seat cover if we’re having a boy 😂

oh! I’ve never heard that about dummies before! I got mam and bibs ones last time but never really used the bibs, they seemed huge and we used mam bottles so he probably preferred them being the same.

I was going to try and not give a dummy this time because it can be so hard to get rid of, but we actually didn’t have too much trouble with my toddler - he just lost them all when he was 2 and that was that!

I was hoping to not have a dummy. Wasn’t aware about the SIDS though.

Also part of the no pelvic floor team 😭

I wouldn’t risk it. You could ask your dentist but I was in the same position and mine said no. And if I recall correctly the leaflet with the syringe said not to. I went to the hygienist 2 days before my wedding for a scale & polish and that made them look bright enough (considering the circumstances 🤣), plus the photographer will edit the pics to have them looking gleaming!

Today we registered the baby AND have been discharged from the midwife. I should probably leave this thread now? 😆 my little preemie 5lb1 baba is now 5lb8 bless her. And when we left the hospital we had to wait an extra half an hour to go because the Dr had said she was a male and all our paperwork said she was a boy!! 🤣 Then today the registrar woman thought she was gonna be a boy because she said she was on the NHS notes!! She’s definitely a girl haha

I wonder what the reason is? I’m thinking because of gum issues in pregnancy. I’ve already had to cancel my Botox so just want my teeth looking nice 🤣
