I've just had a voicemail and text off the health visitor wanting to arrange a "routine pre-birth appointment" with me. Does anyone know what this entails? Babies nursery isn't ready yet so I'm panicking they'll want to see that when it's currently a bomb site getting plastered I know baby won't be in the nursery for ages yet anyway but I haven't got anything set up for where he'll be sleeping in my room either. Will they want to see that? I hate the unknown of what's going to happen at appointments

My health visitor had a look around at my 30 week appointment but honestly their not bothered If anything they will be impressed you’re building a nursery!? Mine just wanted to go through the safe sleep info, breastfeeding, where babies going to sleep, any questions about how your feeling, info on weighing clinics and gave me loads of leaflets to go through. It sounds more daunting than it actually is!

Don't worry you're not alone, I quite literally pissed myself laughing at something my boyfriend did last night and then couldn't stop laughing at the fact I had wet myself either which made it worse

This was me a couple weeks ago. I went to give my boyfriend a wedgie because I'm mature like that, but I accidently complelty ripped his boxers and then wet myself laughing. Threw myself to the floor through it all to try and stop the wee but ended up with foot cramp aswell. He's still not forgiven me

My trust give out hats when baby is first born, they have a traffic light system; baby’s born healthy - green hat. Baby needing some support - orange hat. Baby very poorly - red hat

im 36 weeks due mid june, but do i still need to bring a wooly hat for when she's born?? or just the standard not too thick cotton ones? bit confusing as I'm sure they always like to cover baby head when born i haven't brought a wooly one also i haven't brought any cold day outfits, i have cardigans and stuff but no pram suits is that stupid?should buy one incase its really cold?

also I've brought 2 boxes of ready to feed milk just incase but i haven't done any research on how to make a bottle incase i cant breastfeed.. i have brought bottles and stuff incase too but maybe I'm being naive thinking breastfeeding will work I'm panicking bit now should i buy all things for bottle feeding like the rapid cool etc or just wait

In my local hospital they stick a woolly hat on them straight after birth then usually a normal cotton hat will be ok for them just whilst outdoors for the first week(? I actually can’t remember what I did with my first born and she was July, she wasn’t in hats for long and deffo not in the house).
In terms of feeding we’re in a similar boat, I’ve not even bought any ready made bottles as I’m going to try and breastfeed but if for whatever reason it doesn't work in hospital they will provide the ready made, then once home it’s really easy to get all the stuff if you need it. Amazon prime or even most super markets now sell prep machines/rapid cools etc so the equipment is readily available

When I was in hospital giving birth one of the midwives told me not to use one of our cow & gate ready made with the teats and told me she’d get one of the hospitals. She came back and said never mind they didn’t have any!! So just bare that in mind, just in case you’re relying on the hospital having the formula! Luckily we had some

Today we registered the baby AND have been discharged from the midwife. I should probably leave this thread now? my little preemie 5lb1 baba is now 5lb8 bless her. And when we left the hospital we had to wait an extra half an hour to go because the Dr had said she was a male and all our paperwork said she was a boy!! Then today the registrar woman thought she was gonna be a boy because she said she was on the NHS notes!! She’s definitely a girl haha

haha omg something similar happened to me when I was born! My mum didn’t find out what sex I was but she was so sure she was having a girl and bought loads of pink things. When I was born someone told her I was a boy! I was early and jaundice so I was took away and all wrapped up etc so she didn’t really see me. I was called Jason for a while wasn’t until a midwife or doctor came round later to do checks on me and said I was a girl!

Oh really! Id never actually thought of that I think my hospital only provide Aptamil, SMA and C&G so will have to have a look at them three just incase we need them

I knew I was formula feeding so bought the C&G well in advance but it would be a pain in the a if people didn’t take any formula with them and thought the hospital provided them and didn’t have any!! The midwife was like ‘oh we ran out and didn’t restock’

I know it’s just people paying an interest and being polite, but I am so fed up of the amount of attention I’m getting from strangers/shop people etc. I went to a shopping centre today and I had a pregnancy/size related comment in every single shop I went into 🥲

in Next the lady serving me was being polite and chatty and asked me if I had long left to go (I was buying 2 of the same “Born in 2024” sleepsuits) and I explained when when I was due, but I’m having twins so delivering in around 3 weeks and the middle aged man behind me overheard and said at the top of his voice “OH A DOUBLE YOLKER IS IT?!?”

37 weeks today and I’ve just noticed I’ve lost some of my mucus plug, and I know that it doesn't necessarily mean anything but I’ve been walking around all day and bouncing on my ball just hoping that I could potentially go into labour before I’m Induced next week altho I’m not confident

I am sure I will be here moaning when I get comments about the size of my stomach but for now I'm looking forward to it as it'll mean I'm past the stage where it's questionable if I'm pregnant or just eaten too much.

i had a man who worked in tesco literally stop me while getting a basket and point to his huge beer belly and said stop copying me.. i guess it was meant to be funny but imagine i wasn't pregnant and he just assumed i was!! i was like ermm haha, i think its so inappropriate when strangers or even family etc comment on ur huge stomach like ok thanks bye!

I’m sorry but the double yolker really tickled me.

I imagine you must get comments all the time though!

I’ve not had any comments yet, had a couple of people look me up and down to see if I’m large or pregnant (well I’m both ) but I’m still at the stage where it really depends what I wear.

Having people make comments with a bump / baby or trying to touch is one of the things I’ve been most worried about !

I have fully embraced the maternity clothes now and a few people on the school run have awkwardly looked me up and down now that I’m in leggings and t shirts with a bloat/small bump but haven’t been confident enough to ask

I’m not really showing yet, I get a little bloat if I eat a lot but the nausea doesn’t let me do that much 🥲 I feel it’s more noticeable if I sit down though.
I’m 17 weeks today, cannot believe how quickly the weeks are passing.

I wonder what the reason is? I’m thinking because of gum issues in pregnancy. I’ve already had to cancel my Botox so just want my teeth looking nice

Same I was saving all my Botox and lip filler for just before the wedding then got knocked up

I think it could be because of the chemicals / absorbing them through the gums, potentially untested on pregnant women (like a lot of stuff, can’t imagine they’re inundated with volunteers), and because your teeth are weaker.

Although, I mentioned the teeth being weaker/delicate gums to my dentist and hygienist and they both said it’s a myth, but then I know loads of people who’ve had teeth problems since pregnancy.
