Is anyone else that is towards the end of their pregnancy overly emotional/hormonal?! I just keep crying and I can’t explain why. 😭
I haven’t got to that stage yet, although I remember with my first I cried all the time near the end. I’m just getting to the moaning stage and no longer want to live with my husband 😂

Oh me too! If something sets me off I feel like I can’t stop crying and then just feel in a crappy mood all day 😭 Although I’ve just been reading all the posts about baby showers and people being gifted things and feeling pretty sorry for myself now - I don’t feel like I have any good enough friends to invite to a baby shower and apart from my parents I’m not that close with any of my family 😔

On the flip I’m not even having one with my family. We aren’t close enough, and they don’t care about my pregnancy enough. And I’m not actually inviting any of my friends, it’s just my boyfriends family. It’ll probably be more about my OH than me. Just to show the reality! 🤍

Im due July and have been worrying about this. Im trying to sort out how to take the temp down now, I’ve been keeping the curtains drawn so the light doesn’t get in and have been opening windows at the back and front of the house to get a breeze through. It is working but I’m worried about what will happen if it gets warmer!

And to add another perspective, I’m not having a baby shower because I hate them (unpopular opinion and no offence meant to anyone having one!!) but I’m going to one soon and I’m a bit like aww maybe I should’ve done one, but also I really can’t be arsed with the hassle and expense, along with being centre of attention when I feel like a beached whale 🤣

I just bought this aircon thing it was £50 at Morrisons but only costs a bit more online a few days ago. It does the cold water and has ice packs to put in it as well to cool but also does just work as a normal fan. I’ve only used the normal fan so far as it’s not been warm enough this week to need the aircon but even that air has been really cool. I was using a cheapy Home Bargains tower fan before this which was frankly pathetic. Maybe try this before splurging? It’s working miracles without even using the air con function yet. I told my boyfriend it’s a non compromise because I’m going to be heavily pregnant in July/August. £5 off if you sign up on this website too. Small but very powerful I’ve propped it up on a side table

I’m not having a baby shower either. Didn't with my first (although it was lockdown restrictions anyway) but regardless really not my vibe. Lovely to attend for other people but not for me. I didn’t have a hen-do either!

I‘ve been nagged endlessly about how I should have one, there seems to be a lot of pressure on people to have some sort of extravagant event, but the reality is that a little garden gathering of a few close friends and family members would be equally as lovely (still not for me though 🤣)

Thank you @Hamburglar and @aggytha you’ve both made me feel better ❤ Reality is I’m a huge introvert and like you I don’t think a baby shower would be my sort of thing. But the hormonal mess I am at the moment is just making me feel a bit down in the dumps (I’m probably also grumpy about all my aches and pains and not being able to sleep at the moment too!)

Oh me too! August due date here and our house gets so hot in summer! I need to get new blinds for our bedroom anyway so I’m looking into blackout ones to help keep it cool in the day time. I’ve also bought a low tog wool duvet because wool is meant to be more breathable. I’m thinking it’s probably worth investing in some sort of air con unit, I’m already running hot and I’ve heard about the postpartum night sweats! 😅

its such a worry for me, my room always faces the sun, I might try putting abig blanket over the gaps at the top so maybe no sunlight comes in! but I tried everything last summer nothing worked it was unbearable, if I wasn't having a baby I would just deal with it! but no way I can have a baby in this room when its like 30!

thanks so much! I have been looking at these types I saw one on amazon that you put water in was like 179£ but some reviews on most of these water ones say they get mouldy and stink after a few days from the water o_O so wasn't sure! I could get a proper one which needs a hose out the window but id have to plug it in an extension lead and run it across the flor to reach the window and I worry about how safe that isim stressed I feel like I should've sorted this sooner 😭

Seriously hot house here too!
First borns is a south facing room and we keep the blinds drawn all day, we did get a Dyson fan but honestly if you can go for the air con unit. We did take last summer to opening our loft hatch which definitely shifted some heat out to feel like a sweat box.
For yourself I did this last summer during that heat wave and will be again this year, under the fitted sheet a pet cooling mat from b&m 😂 due early September so I’ll be a sweaty mess these coming months 😅

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get decent stretchy or maternity pants? Work don’t know and my bottoms are now hurting me with the bloat

If you’re still quite early on , you’re best of just sizing up . I tried maternity outfit on when I got to about 23 weeks and I still wasn’t filling it out

I got some wide leg black trousers from Boohoo's maternity range the other day and they're comfy on my growing bump, fairly cheap too. I got linen ones and some other light textured material ones

Does anyone know if it's safe to have Air Con on 24/7 with a new baby? I'm due in July and I live in a country where the temperatures reach 35+ at this time of year and our house is always very warm!

ETA: I just realised how long this is 😂 I won’t be offended if you don’t read just looking for some advice or perspective please!

I work in a very physical job by way of visiting patients at home in inner city London - therefore I walk betweens patients and generally see 4-5 a day. This can regularly mean I’m walking 20,000-30,000 steps just between the hours of 8:30-12/1. There are only two of us who do this specific job and although my line manager is supportive I’m not sure she understands the physicality of my job and how tiring it is. She has told me to “take it easy” and I am not being pressured to keep up with the same amount of work I was at all. But I am happy, while I can, to continue doing home visits.

I have an office to work from in the afternoons and as a base to leave equipment that I may need and don’t want to carry to each home. However, without warning one of the senior admin managers has decided that she now wants my office to work from 2 days a week and wants me to vacate it immediately. Now I add she had not told me or my line manager this directly - I heard from another colleague.

There are no plans for where I am to have a desk (and we do not hot desk). Desk space is also at a premium and clinicians who are seeing patients on site regularly turn up to have no space to see them never mind me just needing a desk for admin work.

I am unsure if senior admin lady knows I am pregnant (I told my line manager i did not mind senior management knowing). She also has another office full time on a sister site (20 min walk away).

Am I right to be so put out by this? I am worried that I will have nowhere to rest after a tiring morning and am certain that I must have the right to discuss this with occ health /HR? I do intend to discuss this with senior manager and let her know I am pregnant - I do not need my office if she wants it but she does have to find me an alternative.
My line manager is basically just saying “she says she needs the office back” and nothing else.

I’ve actually put in my notice as I’m leaving in 12 weeks but it seems like since I’ve said I’m pregnant and leaving they do not care what so ever and it’s really stressing me out.

As long as you have a temperature monitor in the baby’s room, keep it moderate for them. Most houses in the US have central air on all the time so it’s definitely not going to harm baby at all especially if they’re used to it from birth.

Absolutely speak to HR / occupational health now about what they’ll set up for you. It’s their duty. That sounds absolutely knackering, hopefully you don’t have any muscular issues/pelvic girdle pain but if you do, that will be super painful. They need to anticipate you might be in pain so absolutely need to provide you with a space.
