Ughhhhh that’s my biggest fear about my baby shower. Random bath products. Given I’m an eczema/sensitive skin queen anyway (calling myself queen to detract from the fact it’s just a tragic situation) I’m very picky on what I’ll be willing to put on the baby. We want to try Mustela first, with some Aveeno baby mixed in. I do NOT want any of the other stuff, Nala’s Baby/Johnson’s etc. Even Child’s Farm I’m iffy about because I used it when the hype came in years ago and thought it was balls. It’s all getting binned/donated if we get any gifted sorry.

Speaking of shower, we’ve had a two people so far asking what we want. Love that. I’ve sent links for £20-30 stuff. Takes so much off our plate. Wish more people would ask. I don’t want random tat. I already have TOO many clothes I overbought.

how about creating a gift registry/ list and sending that to people?

We did an Amazon list that covered budgets from £5 up to about £400 (grandparents 🤣) and just sent that to people. It helped us keep track of what we were buying too

Yeah I think we will, I guess the awkward person in me feels awkward sending it out to people who haven’t asked to receive one 😂
Just send it to people who ask :) then they might tell someone else who wants to buy you something and you can then send it to them 🥰

I’d much rather buy someone something I knew they wanted or needed rather than a random gift, especially with babies where a lot of people are quite organised and buy stuff themselves

I wish you could give people a list of stuff you definitely don’t want (knitted stuff) without being rude (stop knitting me stuff) or offending people (for the love of god stop knitting me tit) alongside your wishlist 🤣

Hahaha we’ve spoke about this before, but I turned up to my mums last week and she had a tonne of knitting patterns out on the table looking through them and asking me if I’ve seen anything she wants me to knit. I keep telling her I don’t need any and don’t want any!
The best thing about not finding out the gender is that I’ve had no horrible clothes or gifts yet 😂

Someone knitted me a super cute baby sleeping bag type thing to go in the pram, I loved it. Maybe get her to knit you something like that instead of clothes 😂

I got gifted about 9 different blankets. None of them are cellular and he uses a sleeping bag at night anyway.

You can never have enough muslins though I find them sooo useful.

We’ve got 2 bags full of knitted stuff now and I reckon only like 2 of the things are any use. They’re just awful. And my mother is always saying to me “so and so is knitting you this now….” Like great? More stuff he’ll never wear. My stepmum came round yesterday and excitedly told me she was learning to knit so she could make him some booties and a cardigan 😭 luckily I’m really close to her so could be honest and say just make a blanket if you went to knit, but definitely no more booties and cardigans 😭😂

My MIL has already knitted us a little white jacket (it is cute) but she started literally the day we told them at 12 weeks. Didn’t ask if we wanted it… obviously it’s sweet but I think she’s going to be massively OTT about baby (first grandchild and husband is an only child) and it’s making me a bit anxious 😢

To head this off, a friend asked all her knitting friends to knit one or two squares to specific dimensions which her mum then sewed into a big blanket (I think it was the mum's idea actually!). I don't think her daughter ever used it - it was just draped over a chair in her bedroom last time I visited, but still a lovely memento while also concentrating all the pandemic knitter energy into one specific item.

That’s a lovely idea! I wish I’d thought to ask people to do that rather than knit me giant booties, square jumpers and cardigans with extra long sleeves 🤣

I have a shawl she knitted me for first baby that I didn’t use and also one from my auntie. I might use them this time since it’ll be more of a winter baby. I still have all the cardigans she knitted for my son, which are lovely, her knitting is great but I definitely don’t need anymore if this one is a boy. I wouldn’t mind a couple of girls ones but not as much as she done last time. I much prefer the little chunky cardigans you can buy 😂

My mum is so excited to start knitting things for baby! She's really good though and luckily I can tell her what we do/don't want. I still have a jumper she knitted for me when I was a toddler that I'm excited to pass down 🥹

Is anyone else that is towards the end of their pregnancy overly emotional/hormonal?! I just keep crying and I can’t explain why. 😭

Me! Doesn’t take much to make me cry currently. People saying nice things, thinking about the baby coming, thinking about how me and my husband only have a few weeks left just the two of us…

Ahh bless you both @Bumblebee2019 @George01 ❤ nothing in particular is triggering it, I just keep bursting into tears 🤡

I obvs feel tired and overwhelmed and fed up but also equally happy I’ve got this far, so that’s clearly the reason but I don’t remember crying so much and so dramatically with my first! 🤣
