First and foremost, congratulations ❤ the first trimester especially is going to be hard and anxiety inducing but please just know that your symptoms will come and go, they won’t be the same every day and that is completely normal and not at all an indicator of anything. Take it a day at a time, and time WILL go slow and it will be hard, but in a few weeks time you’ll be looking back and realise how far you’ve come. Sending you so much love. Do you have an early scan booked in with the IVF clinic? x
Fellow IVF mum here. I thought the TWW would be the most agonising part, how wrong I was. Try not to symptom watch, as mine definitely came and went, instead I went for A LOT of private scans to reassure myself. I know it’s easier said than done, but try and keep busy. When is your clinic scan?
Thank you so much to both of you ♥ I'm trying my best to just take one day at a time and take my mind off things with fun and frivolous activities. I have my first scan scheduled on June 18th, so just about 24 days away 🥴

Can anyone reassure me that not taking 5mg of folic acid isn't the end of the world?

I had my booking appointment yesterday and midwife has said due to my BMI, I need the 5mg tablets but I can't get them from the GP until Monday..

I've been taking pregnacare but just feel so anxious that I've not had the right dose for almost 10 weeks 😬
---
It’s so much easier to tell someone who doesn’t know you tho? So now 2 days after BFP the people who know I’m pregnant are my best friend, my mum and my florist. 😂 Life is funny sometimes.
I never told my other half this, but other than us two - the first person I told was the lady who does my eyebrow wax and i only see her 3 times a year! 🙈 it just fell out of my mouth!

You’ll be ok. I barely took any folic acid or vitamin d during my pregnancy because I couldn’t keep it down due to HG and baby is fine. If you’ve been taking it but the smaller dose you’ve already taken more than a lot of women do because they either can’t keep it down, don’t know they need to take it, decide against it, don’t know they’re even pregnant etc etc. Don’t fret 😊

I'm approaching 24 weeks and I'm hungry constantly, even immediately after eating a meal. This is the extreme total opposite of what I was like pre-pregnancy when I have the tiniest appetite, eating child sized portions.
In the first trimester however I had zero appetite. Pregnancy really is mental with what it does to you isn't it!

I don't think there's any normal though, as long as you're getting some food down you I wouldn't overthink or worry about it x

Okay so… this is a long one it’s more for if anyone can be arsed reading it. This is what I’ve currently bought for baby / know I need to buy. Am I missing any big hitters?

- Moses basket
- Next to me
- Nursery (so everything from cot, drawers, organisers, potentially a wardrobe)
- All the bedding/protectors for the above
- White noise machine
- Bathing products / moisturiser
- Medicinal (Frida, calpol, plug-in calpol, nappy cream)
- Clothing (baby grows, sleepsuits, actual clothing)
- Hats/socks
- White noise machines, Ewan the Sheep etc
- Bottles, formula
- Nappies, wipes, cotton pads/balls
- Cellular blankets
- Muslins/bibs
- Baby swing
- Baby bouncer
- Pram and car seat
- Baby carrier
- Steriliser and bottle washing stuff
- Room thermometer, bath thermometer, baby thermometer
- Playmats
- Sleeping bags/swaddles
- Rockit

Surely that is it. Also feel free to use my list 😂 still undecided on if we will do the Dockatot but mainly thinking am I missing any essentials right now

Maybe a nursing/feeding pillow if the pregnancy pillow you have now can't double up as one? Obvs not a must have but they do look handy!
I'm thinking maybe a nightlight for night feeds.
A friend who has a baby recently gave me a baby manicure kit saying it was something she found useful.

Yes definitely, my arms are so skinny their head will not feel comfy on them 😂

Forgot baby monitor on my list. One of those of course!

I really wish my budget would allow for an Owlet. The control freak in my would love one.

Have you got baby bath and portable pchanging mat? I agree with nail clippers. Tbf you probably won’t need a baby monitor until they’re a bit older as you’re generally never far away when they’re small.

I’m reluctant to get electronic stuff too soon in case it doesn’t work and I miss the returns time but definitely need to sort a white noise soon. There are so many though I’m baffled, which did you go for?

I’ve seen mixed reviews on owlet where people either get obsessed with checking any tiny variation then panicking, which would probably be me 🙈
We used the snuza hero which simply tells you if they stop breathing because I had an irrational fear of sids and it helped.

Yeah I’d be an obsessive checker. I’ve seen stories of how it’s literally saved a babies life though and then it gets me all in a panic that I definitely need this. My boyfriend’s only reply is “if it makes you feel more comfortable” which is helpful and unhelpful at the same time.

We’re probably going to get a plugged in white noise machine and then a portable one. They have great reviews and a mum account I follow and love on Insta has it.

We weighed up the owlet vs snuza hero when I was pregnant and decided not to get either because he’d be sleeping next to me for 6 months anyway and we were going to look in to cameras etc more when he was a bit bigger and we were starting to think about moving him to his own room. That all changed when he was really poorly this week though and I spent 2 nights just watching him breathe. So I’ve ended up buying an owlet. I love that every time he’s a bit noisy (or quiet!) in his next to me I can check he’s ok on the app without having to disturb him and it really gave me peace of mind when he was still poorly knowing it would let me know if he needed help. It was much cheaper here too and next day delivery

On a practical level I’d say think about your bedroom lighting! I got plug in night lights but they don’t give enough light for nighttime changes and feeds but my bedside lamp seems to be as bright as the midday sun at 3am so wakes us all up fully. I’ve ended up using my tv as a light.

And make sure you have things like a snot sucker, calpol saline spray etc incase baby is a congested one and make sure they’re suitable from birth because things like the calpol plug in aren’t. And nappy cream!

Right I'm here for a little bit of a feeling sorry for myself moment, sorry in advance 🙈
Ever since we found out I'm pregnant my partner hasn't really made any attempts at physical touch/intimacy with me. I thought the first few months maybe he was afraid to disturb baby or risk the pregnancy since it took us so long (and many many tears!) to get here. But I'm now about to turn 24 weeks and still nothing. It's not just sex, it's pretty much most physical stuff. He still kisses me every day, still cuddles and spoons but he hasn't even touched my bare body and feels like he doesn't even want to particularly make an effort to look at it. I stood there naked earlier and shook my bum to get his attention, he looked up and smiled then instantly turned back to his phone.
Being honest we have never been an overly sexual couple, but to have nothing at all this far into the pregnancy is starting to worry me and make me feel undesirable. Sorry I know this all seems very petty but I just don't know if this is more common with men in pregnancy than I might realise? I know I need to talk to him but I think we're both a little awkward at having those types of chats and I don't want things to then only happen because I said something.
Sorry, I don’t have any good advice, but just wanted to share that it’s the same with me and my partner if it’s any consolation. He’s been very sweet commenting on my bump and giving me cuddles etc but doesn’t seem the slightest bit interested in anything else physical.

Also think about where you’re going to do most of the nappy changes and set that up practically. I’ve got a changing mat in the bedroom (the shnuggle) but I hate it and I’m convinced he’s gonna roll off every time (even tho he’s only 2.5 weeks) because he’s such a fidget and had his bedroom set up with his main changing area and all his clothes etc organised perfectly. But also got a changing mat for the living room along with a nappy caddy for daytime changes. Well we’ve ended up using the living room mat on the dining table and having that set up as his main changing area. We’ve now got baskets at the end of the table with his current size clothing in and nappies etc and some wheely drawers next to it with bibs, muslins, spare packets of wipes and nappies etc in. His perfectly organised changing station and drawers in his bedroom as so far completely unused.

Definitely some kind of feeding pillow. Doesn’t have to be a specifically designed feeding pillow though. I just use the V pillow I used to have on my bed.

Also think about where you’re going to be sat with baby during the early days. I’ve had to buy a little side table for where I sit for feeding him etc because it wasn’t practical to keep leaning over to the coffee table post csection and I needed somewhere to put my drink, phone, his dummy, bottle/bottle lid, rest my dinner while also balancing a baby that definitely knows when you’re about to start eating etc.

So not necessarily things you’ll see on any kind of baby essentials list but definitely things to think about to make your life easier

Try not to worry, the 5mg dose is precautionary and the evidence for those with a higher BMI needing it isn’t conclusive - some guidelines recommended it but others don’t. You’ll have been getting the 400 microgram dose via the pregnacare which is way better than nothing x

Can you tell that the third trimester insomnia has properly kicked in by the fact I’m on here at 3am?! 🤪

For nappy cream I cant reccomend Metanium enough, the purple tube for a barrier cream for regular changes and they yellow tube when they show signs of a nappy rash. The yellow one is literally magic in a tube, my son has CMPA and often gets really bad rashes if he's accidentally had dairy, he gets cuts etc all over his bum and that yellow cream clears it up literally within a few hours so it's painless again. It's wild!

Also used it on my boobs when I got a bad rash on them while I've been pregnant, works there too hahaha

Another vote for metanium. Bepanthen and sudocrem did nothing for my baby

I had a little bleeding yday at 4w2d. Is it possible for implantation bleeding to be so late (14dpo)? I finally got a really positive test today tho, the lines before were very faint. And no more blood when I woke up.
