Another couple of things I invested in were undiluted witch hazel and aloe vera gel - providing I don't have any open wounds, my plan is to water down the witch hazel and spritz on a pad soaked in aloe vera gel and freeze it. Apparently very cooling!

Just had my 36 week growth scan, 7lbs 1 already according to the measurements they took. Head and tummy measurements were more like 39 weeks

I got one for a similar price from Amazon and ended up with a c-section. However it came in handy to shower over baby in the bath when they get a bit bigger, mine likes it at least.
The influencer ‘must have’ lists are often balls but lip balm, socks, long phone cable, disposable undies (Aldi), snacks, hair brush and tie, flip flops all came good. Wish I’d taken scratch mitts or a baby grow with built ins but baby only needed one baby grow and vest and something to wear home even in early feb. The ward is so hot, they were mostly just in a nappy skin on skin.
Is a peri bottle a relatively new thing? I bought a well reviewed 2009 first time parenting book and they just recommend buying a cheap reusable squirty bottle.
Yeah, could probs use a Lucozade Sport bottle if you fancied it
My OH got me a peri bottle, my friend bought me flannels and stuff to soothe down there etc. I was expecting to be in so much pain and my urine to sting etc. I had a 2nd degree tear but in three different areas and had loads of stitches but I didn't have any real pain or stinging at such. The little I did have was bearable so I didn't need all the bottles and things but obviously everyone is different.
I didn’t buy a peri bottle or anything with my first and I think if I did it would have never been used tbh.
I had second degree tears and everything was so numb down there for the first few days I didn’t feel anything
when I did it was just a bit stingy

I’ve never heard of a peri bottle until now and I’ve just googled it. A random girl told me when I was pregnant with my first once just to pour a jug of cold water over my bits whilst I’m on the toilet after I give birth, I remember doing it and it felt sensational. I completely forgot about this until now, but will store it in my memory until after this birth!

Sounds weird but buy a good quality toilet paper as well I always buy the quilted stuff anyway and ‘patted’ dry after but I remember being in a restaurant and their toilet paper made me so sore as it was cheap stuff

Not bothering with one this time as I don’t know where it is and not buying another since I never used it! I just used wet wipes instead of toilet roll and found them fine!
I had an episiotomy with my first and I found the pain of that healing worse than labour!
It took about a week or so for it to start to hurt but when I went for a wee I had to bite a towel and scream and cry.
I've never been one to wee in the shower but I made an exception then as it was the only way I could go without feeling like I was going to pass out.
Everyone warned me about the post birth poo but I had no issues with that, nothing prepared me for the wee pain!
I found the first days ice pack maternity pads to be the best thing, my sister in law bought me some before I gave birth and they were amazing!

I didn’t find the first poo bad but omg no one told me I would probably have slight issues down the line with pain and going, think there must’ve been piles or something !!!
Sorry you had such a bad experience. I think I was lucky because it was so numb down there from the anesthetic and I'd had to have a catheter so they put numbing gel down there too. I had to have stitches in my rectum so the first poo was scary, plus I was constipated and couldn't go for 3 or 4 days. I was terrified
Vinted! Ended up selling mine on there, didn’t use it as had a section and sold it for a fraction of the price lol.
I feel I'm missing out on vinted
it's not a thing in Ireland, we obviously have fb market place and the likes but I feel like ye get some bargains on vintedEdit to add yeah I know I could still buy from vinted but the customs etc wouldn't be worth it
