I've got my 12 week scan appointment for in the new year.
The midwife didn't listen when I told her I have a short cycle and has done the dates based on a 28 day cycle.
She said they do the scan at 12 weeks and 6 but by my dates I'll be 13 weeks and 3 when I have my scan.
Same happened last time and I nearly missed out on having the combined screening because my baby measured 14 and 2. After a lot of wiggling, remeasuring and a second sonographer they managed to measure him at 13 and 6 so I could have the screening.
I don't understand why they cut it so close with the cut off date for the combined screening 🤷🏼‍♀️

Originally I wanted my scan before Christmas but I'm actually glad it is after just in case there is any bad news at least it won't ruin Christmas and that's actually helped to calm my anxiety around it a bit...
Is there anyone you can ring to get it moved forwards a bit? It’s like everything just stops at Christmas.
My booking appointment was originally in for 11+4 (although my cycles are longer so around 11) so I was getting worried about when my scan would be which they agreed at EPU. I’m now seeing the midwife next week (9+4) so hoping it will be better for my scan. I was a right stress head yesterday trying to sort it !

I’m feeling her move regular since and it’s only my bloody knee that’s killing. If I get concerned later I’ll call again and see if I should go but at the moment I feel fine in myself and baby feels fine and moving. Just more shaken up as I haven’t fallen whilst pregnant up to now. Just a bloody clumsy idiot tripping over my own foot!

Is there a such thing as too many movements, this baby hasn't left me alone all day and has been poking around all day 😂😂 and I was awake for a good bit last night with a braxton hick .
I'm wrecked and miserable and have a whole 10 weeks left. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight

Actually yes, if baby moves more then you’re used to you should call! Even if it is for your own peace of mind. Is it non stop?

Non stop no but more than usual yeah like usually it's around a few mins and goes away but it has been for a good while twice today in particular and bursting to go to the bathroom as well. Baby is after chilling out now so hopefully it will calm down and if not I'll ring triage

When do/did people start feeling confident and getting excited?
My first I didn't buy anything until well over 26 weeks, and didn't really believe it'd work out, but this time I'm not even 12 weeks yet and can't help getting excited. We had the NIPT test results showing low risk across the board and the sex, and we've seen a heartbeat at the early scan so have told immediate family (I'd want their support not matter what happened). 12 week scan next week. Is that too early to go public?!

A lot of people on my social media have gone public after 12 weeks. I told people beyond immediate family after a 9 week scan where I saw the heartbeat. For me I felt much more confident after my 20 week scan but I’ve had previous loss. I’d say whenever you feel ready is right!

There is such a thing but also - I have a very wriggly baby. Even now she has no room and must weigh about 8lbs at 41+1, she's still wriggling away. I was worried when she established her patterns because it seemed like she never stopped. Sometimes if you feel more relaxed they take it as opportunity to beat you up from the inside!

Perhaps, it's the first day I'm like woah the baby is moving a lot which is strange as I didnt do anything too out of the norm. I just hope when it does arrive it will be very chill and love sleep like their parents hehe

My one is moving a lot… and I have terrible gallbladder pains right now and the baby is definitely making it worse! But honestly I’m happy to know he/she is OK

i'm so confused my this! with my first pregnancy i rang up and they sorted out an appointment straight away (for 8 weeks) this time round i've filled in a form and it's now been 2 weeks and i've not heard anything back?!

When did people feel their second baby move properly? I am convinced I’ve felt quickening and little flutters since about 13 weeks but it’s not all
the time and I’m at the point now in between the 12-20 week scans (i’m 15+6) where I’m feeling better in myself, not as tired and as sick but I’m getting paranoid something has happened and I’m not feeling ‘pregnant’. I’ve still got a funny taste in my mouth, awful skin, absolutely shattered by about 6/7pm and heartburn but other than that I feel fine. I think i just want a really obvious movement so it puts my mind at ease a bit. Like I’ve said I’m sure I have felt quickening but then I think was it just wind 🥲

has anybody got any positive c section birth stories? mine's now booked i just worry about everything 😔 - which was one of my reasons i wanted an elective!! can't win with anxiety

I felt it that early with my second and third. I'm sure it was because I recognised the feeling of it , but it was very faint and fleeting. I deffo could have missed it the first time. Kicks weren't like certain until like 20 weeks though

Yeah that was what mine feels like, very faint but I recognise it from my first. I think cos i’m feeling better within myself when I do feel little faint things Im questioning it. I hate the wait till the 20 week scan 😅

I actually work in radiology and know the booking team. They can only go based on what the midwife writes on the request because they can't make clinical decisions. They have booked my scan for when I am 12 and 6 by the midwife's dates which is the trusts protocol for 12 weeks scans so it's not delayed by Christmas. They are still scanning over Christmas, just not the bank holidays.

It all just comes down to the midwife not listening to me when I said I ha e a short cycle 🙄

I'm still convinced that they're going to say there no heartbeat when I go, I'm always a worst case scenario type of person, I was the same with my first. So really I'm glad to be going after Christmas because I wouldn't want to ruin Christmas for my 3 year old if that happened.

I had flutters from 13 weeks but only in the shower and then from 16 weeks I felt them more frequently then from 24 weeks actual kicks.

Same here. This time I filled out a form and they told me the midwife would call me to arrange a booking appointment. No one did but after about 3 weeks I got a letter in the post with my booking appointment.

I loved my elective c-section! My husband and I went in the morning at 7am and the surgeon came to see us to go through everything and tell us where we were on the list. There were a few emergencies which meant I was delayed so we had a lovely morning in our room watching daytime TV and playing card games 😂 They came to get us gowned up and my husband could come into theatre with me whilst they administered the spinal and waited for it to take hold. Everyone was lovely and chatty and we were just so excited to meet our baby. It took about 15 minutes for me to be fully numb, then they put the screen up and less than 10 minutes later I felt a weight on my chest (behind the screen) and heard a cry. As it was an elective, I had delayed cord clamping. We wanted to see for ourselves what we had, so we were just sat behind the curtain listening to the cry wondering who we were about to meet! The surgeon lifted baby up Lion King style and we saw his bits. I had skin to skin with baby while they sewed me back up, and then my husband took him into recovery to wait for me to be transferred. We were in recovery for about half an hour with some lovely midwives who helped me get him latched on and have his first feed.

I also had a pretty good recovery afterwards. I’d just say make sure you keep on top of your painkillers and don’t overdo it. Try not to be anxious, you’ll be absolutely fine and your baby will be here before you know it x
