I had to be signed off with bed rest from 12-20 weeks with a really bad virus. GP had no issue with it but if you’re not already seeing a physio they might send you that way first. I really feel for you my PGP in my first pregnancy was horrific and really spoilt that time for me it is so draining being in pain all the time. The other thing to check is your work’s maternity policy-depending on how far along you are they could potentially start your maternity leave even if you don’t want them to!
That sounds awful! Hopefully no lasting effects?
Happy to go to a physio, I just want to know if I’m going to be expected to still work from bed because i work from home if I do get signed off 😆 I naively thought that my stomach getting in the way would be my only issue with this pregnancy, so PGP has truly knocked me sideways, I’ve never felt pain like it.

Anyone else hate "no news is good news"? I was told if I tested positive for GD I'd find out ideally today or tomorrow at the latest. I h a t e it. I appreciate they can't call everyone with a negative test and wouldn't expect them to, I'm not going to hassle them, either. It's just such a less than ideal policy for someone like me who will not stop worrying 🥴

I was also told this. Told to wait a week which is tomorrow and I haven't heard anything so fingers crossed I'm fine. I'd rather know either way though.

No I work from home and I was definitely not logging in lol! Once you are signed off you are signed off! It’s truly awful pain-if you don’t already have one get a birthing ball-it was the only place I could sit comfortably in the last few months, it takes a lot of pressure off. Also get to know your triggers (mine is walking-8 weeks of bed rest taught me that lol). Also if you are wanting more babies invest in post natal Pilates- I spent 6 months building up strength in my pelvis/back before deciding to have another and although I still have a bit of pain it is nothing like what I experienced with baby 1 (despite the consultant telling me the PGP would be worse 2nd time around)!

Jumping in on the first xmas wagon 😅 I am dreading it! My parents are split up, I have 3 brothers in my mam’s house and just me in dad’s. After babies, we’re moving 2 hours away and for the first couple of years I can accommodate people in our new home (space wise) but my parents can’t be in a room together for too long without some argument or just snarky comments in general 😂 and if I invite one without the other I’m the bad one 🫣

Thanks for the advice, birthing ball has been bought. My trigger is definitely sitting in my office chair, it’s not helping in the slightest. Shall speak to midwife on Friday and see if she can send me to physio, and we’ll go from there.

When you're signed off for any reason you're not allowed to work at all for the whole duration of the time period covered - the only caveat is if they tick the box that says something like "could return to light duties/reduced hours before the end period", so if that's an option on the form don't let them tick it!!

Once the results are in they'll be put on your digital file so any health professional can access them - you could contact your midwife by phone/email to ask her to check, or you could probably even just ring the GP surgery and ask the receptionist to let you know (if your surgery doesn't have a ridiculous waiting time!!), just to put your mind at ease 🙂

hello! so i have booked to see my doctor to get a peaceful mmindset scan at 10 weeks before my 12 weeks. this nausea has gone and i find myself eating so much. so im a little nervous. they say the placenta is growing which takes the symptoms away but i am just a little nervous still. i tried to ease my mind and think its okay just wait for 12 weeks but i cant shake it off. just need some reassurance. is this a normal thing? meaning nausea goes away around 8+5 onwards and wanting a reassurance scan? lol

I think it is quite normal for the nausea to come and go. Everyone is different. I had a reassurance scan at about 7 weeks, no way I could wait until 12 weeks! So that’s definitely completely normal - I hope it helps to ease the anxiety, those first 12 weeks are such an anxious time and it feels like it lasts forever.

my doctor is a hardass and doesnt wanna do a scan until 12 weeks...so i hope when i see her at 10 weeks she listens to me and helps me just ease my anxiety. last time i saw our baby was at 6 weeks! so its a long wait over here!

Was there a heartbeat at 6 weeks? As that’s a really good sign. In the UK, you have to go private if you want a scan before 12 weeks (unless you’ve had recurrent miscarriages). Hopefully they can do a scan at 10 weeks, I would explain how much your anxiety is affecting you etc and it would ease your mind a lot - sure you’re going to say that anyway! Hope they listen x

Fatigue has hit me like a ton of bricks this week and my acid reflux has made a return since magically disappearing two weeks ago. I've never felt so tired. I wonder if the weather is affecting me too. Work is draining me mentally and physically, I can't wait to finish now. I'm also feeling overwhelmed about actually having to give birth and look after a baby 🙈 I've wanted a baby for so long and it took a while TTC so I feel guilty now for feeling like I'm unprepared all of a sudden.

I’m at this point too. It took us 14 cycles to get this kiddo and I’m now at the stage of “take him back, I’m not ready”. I think most, if not everyone, gets those feelings. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, do something you enjoy that will take your mind off baby for a little while.

It's hard isn't it? I think I'm just so tired I'm wondering where I'm going to get the energy from to actually give birth and look after a baby. At the same time I'm getting to the point of feeling uncomfortable and wanting pregnancy to be over but I feel that the baby is safer in my womb than out in the world 🙈

I think I'm going to start packing my hospital bag to feel a bit more prepared and in control and then at least that's one thing ticked off. I feel like I have so much to do before baby is born but no energy to actually do any of it 😂

I have a c-section date for the end of next week! I had wanted a natural water birth but things have gotten a bit complicated and I want to avoid induction so I think this is a good choice for me. The consultant had wanted me in a bit earlier but they are super busy due to the strokes. I’m on a cancellation list so could basically get a call at any time like ‘come in now please’ 😬

Now that is exciting! Goodluck and let us know how you get on.

I’d be surprised if they let you have a scan earlier unless you’d had issues in the past tbh unfortunately, it’s kind of like if they let one they need to let everyone as majority of mums feel anxious in the first 12 weeks 😞 sadly we have no private clinics near me either that I was able to go and pay for an early scan. Have booked to travel to one though at 16 weeks for a gender scan and check up to break up the wait between 12&20 weeks 🤞🏻

The wait between 12 and 20 is brutal! Currently 16+5 and my scan isn't til 11th October and it feels like ages away. I don't really 'feel' pregnant either as my symptoms of vomiting and fatigue stopped at end of second trimester (although thankfully before 12 week scan so did have that for reassurance). I also don't really have a bump at all just look bloated lol - although do appreciate that's pretty normal for how far along I am.

I had two private early reassurance scans at 7 and 10 weeks due to having quite a traumatic missed miscarriage in December last year but I really don't want to pay for another one. I've got my 16 week midwife appt on Monday and am hoping I might get to hear heartbeat although read online this contradicts updated NICE guidelines and isn't always offered now.

Pregnancy can be stressful with all these unknowns. And god help me for when baby is actually (hopefully) here!

The wait between 20 and 36 is also agonising 😬 we were going to go for a private scan around 28 weeks but when I looked at the cost I just figured it wasn't worth it. I hear her heartbeat every 3 weeks and she moves so much that I'm relatively unconcerned. I also had terrible scanxiety so that also made me think it probably wasn't worth it. I thought I'd be wanting private scans constantly before I got pregnant, now I'm actually pregnant, scans terrify me 😂
