I have my (private) gender scan on Saturday and I’m so nervous! I already have one girl and everyone thinks it’s going to be a boy as this pregnancy has been so different so far 😅

It's hard isn't it? I think I'm just so tired I'm wondering where I'm going to get the energy from to actually give birth and look after a baby. At the same time I'm getting to the point of feeling uncomfortable and wanting pregnancy to be over but I feel that the baby is safer in my womb than out in the world 🙈

I think I'm going to start packing my hospital bag to feel a bit more prepared and in control and then at least that's one thing ticked off. I feel like I have so much to do before baby is born but no energy to actually do any of it 😂
Honestly, I feel exactly the same only instead of worrying about how I’ll cope with a baby, now I’m worried about how I’ll deal with 2 children. I think it’s so normal to worry, whether it’s your first or your fifth. People keep telling me she’ll be early and it gives me a panic attack because I just don’t feel remotely prepared, at all.
(Also, I found pregnancy exhaustion far harder than newborn exhaustion, I’d take newborn sleep over pregnancy insomnia and general tiredness any day!)

I agree the wait between scans is horrible because you can’t feel them moving really much at that point so don’t know if they’re okay or not!

But I don’t mind not having another scan since my 20 week scan because I can feel it moving and get to listen to the heartbeat at all of my midwife appointments so it’s reassuring! Just find it crazy we wont see it again until it’s born unless I need a growth scan😵

Im 8 weeks...having seriously bad insomnia! Usually im the type of person who cant even make it past the first ten movies without falling asleep but for the last two weeks im lying there for ages awake staring at the ceiling, when i do fall asleep im literally awake every 2 hours and then stay awake nearly up to an hour before getting back to sleep. Every night the sleep is so broken, weirdly enough though im full of energy but its still really annoying, anyone have any tips or remedies?

I find it mind blowing they don’t do any routine scans after 20 weeks! That’s potentially 20 weeks with not seeing the baby! In my first pregnancy I had loads of scans from 28 weeks onward as I was measuring small and also had an anterior placenta so could hardly ever feel any movements so they gave scans quite regularly to check she was moving!

This is not aimed at you, I promise, but It astounds me when women on forums complain about having to have growth scans. I’d love to see this kid more often!
I guess the care is handed over to us because we can feel them, and know when something isn’t right?

I'm honestly shocked there's no more scans after 20 weeks unless they feel they need to. I was under the impression they'd want to track growth!

I had two scans after 20 weeks (three if you count during labour itself 😂) and honestly i was so pleased to have the chance to see her. A friend told me as they get bigger it becomes harder to check measurements etc because unlike at the 12 week scan, the baby doesn’t fit nicely on the screen.

Am I the only one who finds appointments a trek 😂😂😂
I’m lucky because my appointments are always in the morning before work and the hospital is 5 mins away from my work! And my midwife lives down the road from me so said we can do them at my house if I wanted but I always have to go to work anyway so easier to go to the hospital!

I have a scan at every appointment as I am consultant led -but it is pointless to me-baby is too big on screen so I can’t see anything anyway. Most of the time they don’t even let me see the screen

Not heard back about GTT or iron blood test so guessing I'm in the clear! Was told Wednesday morning at the latest if it was bad news. Very pleased as would hate giving up my coco pops 😆

The only issue I have with attending the growth scans is childcare. They don't allow me to pick what time I have them as my consultant only works Wednesday mornings which means it's hassle trying to get someone to watch my son, who frustratingly attends nursery on a Wednesday afternoon 😂

Me too 😂 having weekly midwife appointments. See my midwife more than my own family at the moment 😂

Speaking of growth scans I had one today at 34 weeks for my twins. One twin isn’t quite keeping up with the expected growth rate so they’re keeping an eye on it, although we’re talking 19.9% when they like to see at least 20% from the last measurements. I am grateful they’re being cautious though.

With that in mind, I’ve agreed to a c-section on the 10 October, if I haven’t gone into natural labour by then which will make me 37+3.

I can’t believe I’ll have twins in 20 days at the most and be a first time mom! Time seems to have sped up in these last weeks. I was sitting there talking to the consultant and I’m just baffled that I’m going to somehow have 2 babies come out of me, which I’ve made. My brain doesn’t seem to keep up with what’s happening and I’m a bit scared now!

I'm having a scan at 34 weeks but that's just to check my placenta. I'm just happy I can feel baby moving about. The worst stress and anxiety was waiting for 12 week scan (I had emergency at 6 weeks due to bleeding though) and I was lucky to feel baby move slightly from 16 weeks so that made the 12-20 week wait a bit more manageable.
It's so hard though especially for people who have experienced MC in the past. Someone I know had multiple MC at different stages of pregnancy and still had to go private for more scans on their rainbow baby. I think people should be offered at least two extra after MC. But I suppose it's all down to money with the NHS.

I think it depends if your growth scans are because your fundal height is a bit out, then it’s a lovely excuse to see baby, but I’ve had a couple of friends who had them regularly due to health concerns for them/the baby, so every scan was quite anxiety inducing so I guess it depends on the reason for them!

Nursery tour done! Will be sending him there in 2025. He’s not even out yet and his future is already being planned out. Very strange.
