Has anyone been prescribed cyclizine for nausea? I was prescribed 1 tablet 3x a day. But today I’ve been so drowsy feeling, I’ve been unable to do any work at all! Does say on the sheet inside the box that it can cause drowsiness. I don’t know what’s worse, the nausea or the drowsiness!
I think I was prescribed Cyclizine first pregnancy and unless I’m wrong it’s also used as a sedative for insomnia (unless I was actually prescribed something else). Either way, I would take it at about 5, it would knock me out overnight and then leave me drowsy until about midday, and then I’d have to do 12-5/6 with the sickness because otherwise I’d just be asleep. The one I got prescribe this time around was something different, non-drowsy (and tbh slightly less effective) but meant I wasn’t constantly falling asleep so always worth seeing if they have anything else they can offer

Yes I was and it definitely helped. I was drowsy but hard to tell if that was first trimester exhaustion or the tablets-I suspect it was first trimester exhaustion as i vividly remember that from my first pregnancy (I didn’t take anything for the nausea then just suffered through). If they are helping keep at them; the nausea would make you exhausted alone!!!
I’m first trimester but wasn’t feeling this exhausted before I started taking them. I have quite an intense job so I just don’t think I can keep taking them, I’d rather feel nauseous as wild as that sounds!

Interesting, thanks both. Might give the lemon in a ziploc a go. My sense of smell has me gagging at pretty much everything too so I think the rubbing alcohol would tip me over the edge 🤣

I’ve seen people use the lemon juice in a bag for travel sickness!

I’ve woken up with a stomach bug today and I feel so bad for baby but I can’t stomach any food. I’ve managed a slice of toast, a tangerine and a few grapes. I’m nearly 17 weeks so I hope it’s not going to harm him

They’ll be fine, you have reserves but do try and eat something if you can.

Again, still lurking, but I’ve definitely slept better since baby arrived! Yes I’m up with him but I’m not in pain, aching and uncomfy when I do actually go to sleep. I wake up rested! Also being awake with a gorgeous newborn is definitely superior to being awake with sore hips and a constant need to pee 😂
i had mine a week ago tomorrow and i’m definitely the same, it is totally different sleep and there are points where i think im knackered but im so much better on a whole. i don’t miss the aching and needing a pee 32595x a night 😂
Anyone been told they can take a medicated nasal spray with the cold? I’m 32 weeks and got 2 hours sleep last night as I can’t breathe-was using vicks, olbas oil in a diffuser, 5 pillows and a saline nasal spray but nothing works!!!
i used a sudafed spray a couple of rare times while pregnant - wasn’t until after i had taking it that i realised you’re not meant to without doc ok’ing it - but i was suffering so bad i took the risk

Generally I've found that since having a baby I've had much less opportunity to sleep, but when the time comes I drop off straight into a deep sleep so it's much better quality than when pregnant! The tiredness with a newborn is a different type of tiredness to during pregnancy and it's a little overwhelming at first but once you get used to it it's much easier than being pregnant, exhausted and uncomfortable! Reverse psychology definitely helps - in the early days if I told myself I wouldn't get any sleep at all at night then I was extremely grateful for anything I got, even if it was just 10-15 minute bursts - whereas on the nights I was desperate to sleep and kept being woken up I was really miserable!

This is a weird one and apologies in advance if TMI.

Every week without fail I’ve been waking up after about an hour with the worst stomach pains. I have to sit on the toilet with a bucket as everything I’ve eaten comes out of both ends for about 10 minutes solid. I’ve tried narrowing it down to certain foods and there’s no real pattern; sometimes it’s meat, other times dairy, sometimes gluten. I just can’t work it out!

I have experienced this before, maybe once every 4-6 months for the last couple of years but this is next level because it’s at least once a week! Any ideas what it could be?! Is it something like IBS made worse by pregnancy? Midwife had no idea.

Also officially entered third trimester today!!

Re tiredness, I sleep so so much better since having the baby. After the initial shock of the first few weeks I actually realised how happy I was to go to bed, where I could lie on my back and not get up to pee 5 times a night 😅

The first night after he was born I was so excited when I realised I could sleep on my back again, actual jubilation 😂

Pregnancy is an absolute rollercoaster ride for your body, especially your digestive system. I’ve had some good weeks and very bad weeks where I’m struggling with gas, back pain and frequent toilet trips.
I would advise making sure you’re drinking enough water and eating enough fibre, but otherwise maybe check in with your GP in case they want to do any tests!

Urgh I'm having such a tit night too 😩 usually when I go to bed I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow and since taking gaviscon every night for the reflux I've been fine with that too but tonight I've had my first bout of insomnia just tossing and turning and despite taking gaviscon my acid reflux is horrific and I'm trying my best not to be sick 🤢 I thought I'd solved this so I'm gutted to be back in this situation. Only silver lining I suppose is that I finish work in just over two weeks.

its quite a while since I had my babies!
Just want to share that when I had pregnancy nausea, something that helped me enormously was to have a ginger nut biscuit or two, with a cuppa. It really used settle my stomach. Some of you may find this useful.
I actually really miss those days 🙂
Wishing the best for all of you pregnant ladies x

i had to ring up my GP in the last month or so of being pregnant. the reflux was horrible and i was borderline trying to not be sick with anything i ate/drank. i told them that i had tried everything over the counter and they ended up putting out some omeprazole for me which was a game changer - don’t get me wrong some stuff still set me off but it was 10x easier than before

@justonemorepage gef your dr to give omeprazole. With my first I used he is on and cut out all good they said to, ended up sleeping sitting up but still woke with acid filling my mouth. Omeprazole took it all away.

I’ve just started taking it now again at 25 weeks

@hazmaz and @rosieposie94 I've been asking for a few weeks for it and they said they didn't feel comfortable giving it to me in the third trimester 😭 the only thing they offered was gaviscon. Not sure if different areas/practices are different. Before that I was passed from pillar to post - mentioned it at my midwife appointment and she said to go to the pharmacy and ask there so I did and they said ginger biscuits 🙃 then I was getting more and more frustrated so I went back to the pharmacist and they said contact your GP so did that and they said ask your midwife 🙄 at this point I was so upset about it all I was begging them to help but they were really reluctant with how far along I am (their words) so prescribed gaviscon. Asked if I could have anything stronger/more effective and they said no basically. Tbf the gaviscon had been working for the last two weeks, it's just for some reason last night it didn't touch me.

lol to ginger biscuits. Like taking paracetamol for a gunshot wound.

While rolling over in bed last night, I was getting pains when I got to lying on my back. I think he’s just in a dodgy position at the moment but I was a little shocked.

It literally says on the NHS website that it’s safe during pregnancy: https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/omepra...eeding-and-fertility-while-taking-omeprazole/
Please go back to your GP and insist, or tell them you will be making a complaint!
