I think we might have discussed this before but baby brain has set in I think now I’ve finished work 🤣 Is anyone else up the wall with names? This is our second girl and we’ve got a (long) shortlist. It’s stressing me out because nothing is truly jumping out for us, I think we’ll have to wait and see her but I’m looking for inspiration.

We want something classy but a bit unusual so ideally not in top 50 uk girls names. Any thoughts?!
I love unusual names for girls, but ‘proper’ names not made up ones if that makes sense 😂 We had Maeva, Margot, Clementine and Primrose on our shortlist for a girlie.

Yes think that’s what I’m getting at ‘proper’ ones 🤣 but a bit unusual. I think we’ll have to wait and see her maybe 🤣

I don’t like any boys names! When I do decide on one I change my mind the next day. It’s so much easier to pick girls names for me.

Ones I’m debating on:

Alexander
Sebastian
Finn
Thomas

Finn was on my list for ages but my boyfriend says it reminds him of some wrestler and he hates it 😂

My name is consistently in probably top 10 yet I barely know anyone with it?! I’d always pick a name because you love it, nothing else matters. DH had a wobble about our DD’s name cause he doesn’t like any of the nicknames but I said we might never shorten it and so far we haven’t!

All lovely but you can’t go wrong with Thomas.

weirdly there’s a couple of clementine’s and margot’s at nursery, even though they’re not that common! They’re absolutely gorgeous names though

I think Margot is quite popular now because of Margot Robbie. There is a Margot at my daughter’s preschool. It’s so hard because when you know someone called a certain name, it can put you off!

Margot was my top choice but DH’s family are broad Yorkshire (I’m from Surrey) and it sounds awful when they say it 😂 so it’s been demoted to middle name.

I've just gone back to check our potential baby names list and thought I'd share it in case it's helpful!

Girls:
Iris
Elsie
Jessica
Alice
Lucy
Emma
Talia

Boys:
Oscar
Henry
James
Thomas
Joseph
Edward
Arthur
Rory
Alex
Rufus
Noah
David

I think it's a good job we had a boy because none of the girls names look right for us anymore! To be fair, most of the names on both lists had big question marks next to them because I was never sure they'd be right but thought I'd jot them down anyway 😂

I always knew what our first baby would be called and despite spending ages mulling over names, we kept going back to the same name. Fortunately it was perfect for him, Tobias (Toby for short). His middle name, William, is a family name that goes back five generations on my husband's side.

We don't know the sex of baby number two yet (currently 17 weeks) but for a girl I have always loved Adeline Aria. My husband hates it though, says it'll get confused with Madeline 🙄 I love Aria as a middle name as we're both musical and have musical people within both our families. Here's hoping if we have a girl I can convince him!
