Hi all, sorry if I’m in the wrong place I’m just a little confused and looking for some advice if anyone has been in a similar situation…I’m currently 44 years old, with regular periods, no sign of perimenopause, and from Ovulation kits it appears that I am fertile when I would expect to be. I’m not trying to not trying to conceive (I would be happy either way) but just wondered if these things are in any way an indicator of if I can still get pregnant? Anyone else similar age to me that is currently expecting, etc? Thanks in advance xx

I don't have experience with that personally but if you're still ovulating, regular periods ect, I'd say it's certainly possibly!

I am 40 and 30 weeks pregnant. Took me by surprise because I was having peri-menopause symptoms and I know from fertility testing in my 20s/early 30s my egg reserves and quality were low for my age then - goodness knows what they are now!! There is an increased chance of fraternal twins post-35 too as your hormones increase with age it can cause your body to release more than 1 egg each cycle.

Thank you for your message! Congrats! 💕💕we’re you trying for long? I have heard that you can have a surge of fertility before menopause but I can’t see if that has ever been proven scientifically? 🧐

No - I had 2 IVF babies and this was an accident 😆 I tried for years initially before and had multiple operations, IVF cycles and miscarriages. From a quick google I think the fertility surge pre-menopause info (ie a higher FSH causing more than 1 egg to be released per cycle) is from a study done in 2006 x

I’m sorry if this has been asked before, but what are people’s opinions, or experiences with previous pregnancies, with drinking raspberry leaf tea?

I used it 11 years ago with my first (didn’t realise it also had hibiscus but all was fine!) and I drank it religiously from 32 weeks. I had a 3 hour active labour and I’m sure it’s because of the tea! I recommended it to my friend and she also has a very quick labour.
I’m 32 weeks today and about to drink my first cup of this pregnancy!

I always think it's worth a try 🤷🏻‍♀️
There's no way of telling if it helped or not really because you don't know what it would have been like without.

Just make sure it doesn't contain any Hibiscus 😊 (a lot of them do)

How annoying! Ordered some from a website that sells all things birth and pregnancy but I just saw it has Hibiscus in it! Do you think it matters that much?

I think it's best to do your own research and make your own decision as some say to avoid, others say in moderation

Fgs I just rang my gp to tell them I’m pregnant because that’s what the nhs website said to do so I rang them, they then put me through to nearest hospital to speak to the midwives, who then put me on hold and then through to someone else just for her to say you can’t book an appointment yet ring back when you’re 6 weeks🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Any ladies still had light cramping going into their 2nd trimester? I’m 15 weeks and still get some light cramp/ache. I’ve had a scan and everything looks great so far. I’m guessing it’s stretching pain?

Thinking of you MW - hope you’re getting closer to meeting baby muffin now! Xx
thank you- baby muffin arrived this Morning at 4:15 via emergency c section. Not what I had in mind in terms of her birth (despite telling everyone how flexible I am) but she’s here and beautiful and healthy. I’m still processing what happened but will share soon.
Also she weighs 8lbs 9oz so a c section wasn’t the worst thing in the world when I think about it 😬

I think every area is different.
With my area you call the gp and they give you a link to self refer to the midwife services as long as your over 6 weeks. But you don't hear from them until around 10 weeks. Where as I know others hear from them sooner

Yeah I asked my friend what to do and she said to call them asap because that’s what she did and they booked her an appointment but she’s in a different area than me!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I think a lot of areas switched to direct contact with maternity just before/during COVID, but everywhere does it differently! I was asked to self-refer online but not to do so until I was 5 weeks, and told that I'd hear back between 6 and 8 weeks for appointments to be booked. The wait is frustrating but in the meantime if you have any pregnancy-related queries (e.g. whether you can continue with your current medications/supplements, if you need the higher dose of folic acid etc) you can contact your GP 🙂

Thank you! I still don’t feel pregnant yet to be honest I did another test this morning just to make sure 😆 so hopefully won’t have any questions until I get my appointment!

I was so thrown by the fact that the GP wasn't interested and no-one wanted to test me to confirm it, I did three tests to make sure and still didn't trust myself 😂
