BMI over 30 here - does anyone know where I can buy 5mg tablets of folic acid? I can only see the 400μg ones on Amazon and don’t fancy taking 10 per day 🫠
I have my booking appointment on Tuesday so the midwife might tell me then.
Gp will prescribe them. I've never bothered with either of my pregnancies taking the increased dose. I was borderline each time but by the time the prescription was ready I was about 12 weeks anyway so thought it was pointless 🤣

your midwife should prescribe you a higher dose. Don’t be paying! Get that free prescription. I had the same, as my BMI was classed as a bit high.

Thanks all. My other half just sort of rolled his eyes and told me to ignore her when I brought it up 🙄.
Been feeling really weird the last couple days, nauseas and random pains in my stomach but not really cramping feeling just… off. Wondering if this could be the beginnings of labour!

Hi all, still no baba 😬 my waters broke this morning but it’s a slow trickle. Went to the hospital who confirmed it and going back tomorrow morning to be induced if nothing happens overnight. I’m ok if I don’t think about everything too much, if anyone has any positive stories about anything similar with inductions/waters breaking please do share. I’ve done a really good job of thinking of labour as a future me problem and here we are 😂

This is pretty much exactly how my second started.
I woke up at 6am and felt a trickle as I went to the bathroom. Rang traige because it didn't really stop. They checked and it was my waters.
So they gave me the option to be induced there and then or go home and hope labour starts itself.
It never did, so I was back in at 9pm to be induced.
They gave me a 4 hour pessary to see if it'd start off labour or so they could pop the rest of my waters, which it did. And then at 7am they started me on the hormone drip and she was born at 9pm (I think she could have been born sooner but the midwife told me to fight against my body pushing and refused to check me for hours even though I had the urge to push!)

Eat before you get put on the drip because you can't eat whilst on it.
Be prepared to accept/want an epidural, the hormone drip is a lot stronger than regular contractions.

As your waters have gone, they usually want to get things going within 24 hours because of the risk of infection. So by tomorrow evening, you should have your baby 😊

I was induced after my waters broke on my first. I got to 10cm dilated - our only problem was she was at a really weird angle and wouldn’t come out. Hopefully that won’t happen for you guys though and she’ll come out like a dream. Stay calm, stay mobile. wishing you the very best for the hours ahead!
If you get an epidural ask about ways they can keep you mobile - like a peanut birthing ball.

Really excited for you! Keep us updated and good luck tomorrow if you are induced 🤞🏽🥰

Can anyone recommend any maternity swimwear that will also support bust wise? Everything I’ve found so far just allows for you to be ‘bigger’ but doesn’t offer any actual support for the ever growing melons 🤪🙃

Thank you for the advice about the swollen ankles - turns out it was just a busy week at work, rather than pre-eclampsia, but always worth getting it checked.

I feel like I’ve complained about it so much here already, but I’m so fed up with the nursery not being done yet. These next two weeks are my last two weeks off work before baby arrives and I want to be involved with sorting it all. So as much as I know it’s ‘early’ and we’ve got ‘loads of time’ (baby due in 9 weeks), I just want to be able to get stuck in and almost finish everything but I feel like we’ve got tit everywhere and we’re not making progress ☹

Ladies, I’m having a 4D scan today at 27 weeks (only doing it because we had one with our first and I feel guilty if this child doesn’t have one 😂 ridiculous) - do I need a full bladder?! I can’t remember!

I think after 20 weeks, it's fine.
Could always drink a bit just incase and easily pee when you find out

I totally understand your stress about the nursery. Babies coming in two weeks and mine is finally being finished today. It’s been on my mind constantly lol

Hi guys, looking for a bit of advice/reassurance. I’m about 15 weeks now and have been away on holiday the last week - we are in Cape Verde which was booked months before finding out I was pregnant. I’ve been bitten by mozzies a few times which being over here and I have Googled it just to make sure OK and nothing I should be doing - but this has returned with the risk of a virus called Zika…. I’ve now gone into panic mode and feel so guilty for not checking anything before we came away. 😳 I have an appointment with my midwife the day after I get back so will let her know then but 🥲

Hello I can’t be of much help and I don’t want to scare further but I had heard you shouldn’t visit countries with Zika whilst pregnant. Are you there for much longer? Would it be worth contacting your midwife or GP whilst you’re still there, in case there are active things you can put in place before you return?

It is usually advised to avoid countries where zika is possible, Unfortunatley Cape Verde is one of those countries where cases are known. As you are already there, there isn't anything you can do really.
Definitley speak to your midwife when you are home 😊

This is the advice if you do travel to Cape Verde

As above there isn’t much you can do as you are already there but luckily you are coming home tomorrow so I would just keep your midwife apt as planned and see what they say and go from there, hopefully everything will be ok for you! 🤞🏽 try not to stress too much until you’ve got some proper guidance x

Due date today, have a stack of messages I’m ignoring on WhatsApp from people asking ‘any update’ 🫠 overwhelmed already 😅

I’ve just had a quick look online and it looks like the last reported case of Zika in Cape Verde was in 2016. If there’s no current outbreak I think everything is likely to be absolutely fine even if you have been bitten x
