Today I got emotional with my hubby because I couldn’t get a seat in a cafe for a hot chocolate. Pregnancy is funnnn! 😂😂

#lighteningthemood

ETA: I have my glucose testing next week - can we drink water, or is it a total fast?
So check with the midwife who takes the blood- I had very conflicting advice 😂 the flyer I got said I could take sips, which I interpreted as don’t chug loads of water. When I got back in for the second blood test it was impossible for her to find my veins and she said “did you drink enough water” which made me think that ok, I actually could have chugged water for the sake of my veins 😂 but online I’ve seen some guidance that says you can’t drink at all so 🤷‍♀️

That’s a bit judgemental lol. How do you know they were teens? I’m 28 and look about 15 lol
I know, I said I knew I was being judgemental and I didn’t say it aloud. She was talking about sitting her GCSEs so I made an educated guess. Of course, she could have been resitting them as an okder
It wasn't though.
It was a dig a young mums. Like they don't already face enough judgement. There's a girl on here who was young and posted for advice. It just defeats the object.
As a previously young mum. It gets my back up how quickly people are to judge because of their age.
I'm 30 and still get judged for having my first child young. I am still judged for looking "young" so I don't think it defused any tension. Age doesn't come into being a parent. I've seen amazing mums at 16 and tit mums at 36.
I know, I think when you’re pregnant you’re at risk of being judged no matter how old you are. I’ve been judged for being an ‘older’ Mum too. I didn’t mean to imply that I thought she would be a tit mum just because she was young, so I apologise if it came across like that.

I'm 36 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and midwife thinks baby is breech. Will have a growth scan tomorrow so will be confirmed or denied then, but I was just wondering whether anyone who's had a C section, either planned or unplanned, has any tips on making it the nicest possible experience?! I feel a bit overwhelmed at the prospect and not sure what my preferences are! I guess delayed cord clamping, skin to skin as soon as possible after, maybe lowering the drapes as baby is born?! My partner is a bit squeamish about seeing too much, but I don't want to feel disconnected/distant from his birth (I can barely remember my first son being born and that was with forceps/episiotomy in an operating theatre!)

If I remember correctly, a couple of ladies here have had a section recently, so they might be able to offer more advice. But I’m potentially exploring the option of an elective and skin to skin/lowered screen would be my biggest request. If your partner stays by your head, he won’t see any more than you but will still feel involved and like he’s there to support you.

I feel like this thread has turned a bit nasty and self righteous. Someone jumped on WeHadFunRight for a comment she made in passing about school strikes and being worried about childcare and now she hasn’t posted since and I actually really appreciated her advice :(

I agree. Calling someone out is one thing, but with the comment today the OP apologised for offending and it wasn’t dropped. Let’s try keep it a supportive place for everyone, and if a comment offends just remind the OP what the thread is for and move on

@Spencerskates did you go in for reduced movements/ have you felt baby move now?

I just woke up cos I live on the other side of the world and just catching up on the last 3 pages!!
I haven’t been in, I think I’ve felt him slightly but I’m not 100% sure. I think he’s maybe laid a bit awkward so I can’t really feel him at the moment.

If your not 100% sure, I'd 100% go and get checked out. Just for the mental reassurance more than anything.

If you have any doubt go in. You don’t want to be the person who doesn’t and lives to regret it. I don’t say that to scare you, I say that because this is real life and it’s not a risk worth taking. They’d rather you went in 100 times and they be fine than miss the time it isn’t.

I had a C-section because my baby was breech, aside from the expected nervousness around it being major surgery, it wasn't a "bad" experience at all. I'd say to definitely think about what's important to you, like you have done, and be confident in expressing this on the day. I had the same midwife with me from being admitted, through the C-section and in recovery too which really helped. If your partner is squeamish they can advise him when to look away I'm sure! Will you consider an ECV if baby is breech and doesn't turn naturally?

Thank you all, I’ll give them a call. I feel like they’ll tell me it’s fine with how early I am in my pregnancy, but it’s just niggling at me after feeling him move so much!

Make sure to tell them that while you may be early, you are used to a lot of movement from him. That’s what matters, it’s not normal for you and that in itself warrants attention.

Depends on the trust. Mine don’t even let you brush your teeth, and no water. (I did brush my teeth because I refuse to leave the house like that!)

Spoken to them. They’ve recommended the usual cold/sweet drink and lie down. Said I could come in tonight but would be a long wait and I’d be better contacting the community midwives first thing.

I occasionally come on this thread since being on here over a year ago, because I’m incredibly broody and jealous of you all 😂

Anyway, I couldn’t read and say nothing, but my 3yo was breech at 38 week check up. Footling as well which had such a low chance of him turning. Anyway, we booked the section, went in and the little bugger had turned back round, so they didn’t give me the section, but induced me instead. Fingers crossed if they are breech, they will turn
