I think you have to be 3cm for them to break your waters.
Hopefully they'll give you the pessary as I find that has worked almost instantly for me!
I’m between a rock and a hard place now where I wanna progress and also not go through with it 😪

Once they break your waters, they'll be able to put you on a drip.
But just keep moving about walking as much as you can.
With my first, it took over 24 hours of pessaries ect before they could break my waters and I was 40+12 😂❤

Anyone got any tips for trapped gas? I feel like I swallowed a balloon, so uncomfortable 😐

Could you ask for the pessary after the gels maybe? It’s so crap watching people progress and go to delivery, have you got someone with you at least? Get on your ball, do some walking, try and take your mind of it. Have they said what the plan is after the gels? xx

Planned section in the morning and tiktok has decided to show me loads of videos of women saying how awful their sections have been! I’ve had one before but now I’m panicking! Don’t feel like I’m gonna get any sleep, we have to be there at 7am as well.

You will be okay - try and get some rest and relax, soon you’ll have your sweet little bundle in your arms - you’re only hours away now! Good luck xx

Oh love sending you a big hug. It's a huge loss and it stays with you always. I lost our pregnancy this time last year and I found the due date very hard too. I'm so excited about this little baby but struggled to feel connected to it for months 'just in case'. Hope you have a lovely day in the woods tomorrow ❤
Big hugs to you too ❤ I can definitely understand the struggling to connect part, fear can have an awful grip on you at times.
The day wasn't easy but I survived it which is the main thing

Scanxiety is kicking in again.. I have it on Wednesday morning, I’ll be 9 weeks then. My scan 2 weeks ago went well and nothing has happened since to indicate somethings wrong but you can’t help feel like this!! Last time I had to take the day before off work as I was a mess so hoping I can get through tomorrow without the same happening 🤞🤞🤞

Another bleed to start my week. Off I go to get seen, the stress this causes me is unreal ☹

The new Rhianna song has had me in floods of tears on my drive to work. Feeling very emotional this morning 😭

Is there any merit to using “normal” (i.e. not sold as pregnancy specific) body butters/creams for stretch mark prevention? Tbh my skin is so fragile and light it’s always been prone to stretch marks so I’ve got them everywhere already from my teens but I figured I should maybe try and prevent a few more if it works. If it’s all pointless - even the pregnancy specific ones, as I suspect it is knowing how skin regeneration works - then I’ll not bother and might just use them so rigidly, more as a self care thing instead.

Hope it’s all ok x

They do say stretch marks are mostly genetic, but the stretching can be quite itchy so moisturising is good to help with that at least!

Baby James is here! Planned section, born this afternoon at a very healthy 9lb6oz 😅😅 I’m obsessed with him!

My induction was fab. I think it’s worth remembering people are more likely to speak out about a difficult birth, everybody has different pain thresholds, places use different induction methods and it’s definitely worth baring in mind that going in to be induced doesn’t mean baby will imminently arrive, sometimes it can be a long slog. I had a 24hr pessary, 2 lots of gel, an overnight break and then my waters broke the next morning and the drip. They will encourage you to have an epidural with the drip as the contractions can be very intense but I wanted to try pethidine first instead of immediately going for an epidural.

By the time I was ready to push a caesarean was being mentioned as I was maxed out on the drip and the monitor wasn’t detecting my contractions, I requested that they did a VE and it turned out I was 10cm and crowning but that pethidine was the best thing EVER I felt nothing 🫣😂 3 pushes and she was out.

Inductions can be horrible and lead to complications, but so can going into labour naturally, I actually preferred labouring after induction as with babyGG because it happened so quickly it was INTENSE and I went from 3cm to 8cm in 35 minutes. X

I’m definitely thinking of getting pethadine before the epidural as the thought of an epidural terrifies me

I’m only 18 weeks but got a positive story from my friend- she had a sweep that didn’t work but then had the gel and was fine. It took a day or two from the sweep to the gel but hers is the most positive birth story I’ve heard, she had vaginal birth, pethidine and paracetamol and used a tens machine. But generally nothing overly dramatic happened to her, she was about two weeks overdue but no lasting damage, mum and baby healthy.

I got to skip the "start" of induction as I was already 3cm dilated & I'd slowly lost my waters so was put straight on the hormone drip & antibiotics because they didn't actually know how long I'd been without waters as they kept fobbing me off saying I'd wet myself🙄
I had pethidine & remifentanyl that I could control myself (best thing ever)
I had dry birth, there were some complications towards the end, but honestly I'd do it all over again.
The best advice I can give you is just take each step as it comes, try not to stress over them and whilst you can, move as much as you can, it really does help! I managed 4 hours on the drip with no pain relief then I got given gas and air and waited till i couldn't tolerate it anymore and then hit the hard drugs🤣
