I have to see the consultant after each scan. It’s not uncommon for me to be at the hospital for 3 hours. So much wasted time that it does my head in. Seems to be a different person to check urine, another one to weigh me etc. I also had an alert on the app and had to self isolate last time I went to the hospital 🤦‍♀️
I have this too after every growth scan.
Last time, I got called in for my consultant, a nurse did my urine. Then told me to wait for the consultant to come in.
She then comes back 15 minutes later saying "Sorry, we need this room, can you wait outside"
So I went and sat outside the room for her to then come 10 minutes later and tell me there's a room available, can I sit in there and wait.
I was there in the room for an hour and 15 minutes until the consultant eventually came in

In the sling, or just in my arms 😊 with my first two I had a Moses basket downstairs they never settled in, so when my babies sleep, they just go in the sling or I hold them, until they get in to a more solid nap routine and then they go upstairs (but that usually isn’t until about 9 months or so).

4th trimester babies often don’t want to be put down, so any FTM shouldn’t worry if they can’t set their sleeping babe down without them waking.
Can you recommend a good sling? Or do they all do the same thing 🙈 I think we get one in the baby boxes in Scotland but I'm not sure if every woman gets that or you have to meet criteria

30 minutes before? I wonder why that is 🤔
Never heard of that even in normal circumstances.
We're not even allowed into the unit to book in here until 5 minutes before your appointment.

Unless your hospital has introduced lateral flow tests? In which case, it would make sense
That's what I wondered. I think I will give them a call tomorrow to clarify.

Has anyone had a smear test whilst pregnant? I've had a letter today to say I'm overdue (first I've heard) and should contact them as soon as possible. I've read mixed things. Wondering if better to go now than after!

Random question for you ladies- have you changed up your skincare routine since you found out you were pregnant?
Im not sure where the best source is to find out what is recommended to use.
I just wash my face with water now and use simple rich Moisturiser. I miss my old skincare routine 😂
I’ve stopped using retinol and am using a vitamin C serum instead but that’s the only change I’ve made

I know I’m in a different area to all you guys but did you have to pay for scan photos at the hospital? It says on my letter to bring pound coins only for the machine to get photos, £5 for 1, £10 for 3. I need to get some cash out and get some change from it before I go!
My letter always says about paying but I only ever had to pay in my first pregnancy. No one asked this time around, they just gave me the photos.

Did you ladies gain much weight in your first trimester? I’ve put on 2kg and my doctor commented on it this morning 😭 Is that too much? My diet has been pretty poor because of nausea and food aversions but I’m just panicking about the weight gain now.
Ah please try not to worry ❤ everyone is so different. I don’t think the UK has weight gain guidelines (maybe someone will correct me on that?) but I think they do in the US and on a couple of apps I have it is telling me the ‘recommended weight gain’ for 12 weeks is 1.9kg! So sounds about right?

I was also reading ‘expecting better’ and there was a bit about weight gain in it - according to it pre pregnancy weight is more important!

Thank you! Must remember to not only read the top option on Google!
Im so surprised to see that! I think with my first baby I was also due a smear when pregnant and they made a big thing of reminding me to get it done after birth. That’s really interesting to see such different advice.

No ive not bought anything new. I bought some lovely moisturisers around christmas time and wasnt sure i could use them. Ive managed to get a full routine that is safe to use (by checking this website) from skincare i already own which is fab. My skin feels so happy and nourished. I was only using water and simple Moisturiser after i initally found out i was pregnant. Glad i can use more now as it would have been a long 9 months. Im not 100 % which suncreams are safe to use though (it was lovely and warm last weekend)
It was sunny here but was only like 14 degrees and I was shivering I won’t roll out the serious factor other than my face until 20 degrees only because I won’t sit outside if it’s not warm enough x I am not sure really on sunscreen that is a whole bee level of confusion x

Had a scan yesterday (36wks) for a minor issue.. and baby’s head is fully engaged 😳😳 I’ve been losing my plug all week too.. aaaah. I’m very relaxed about it all at the mo. Although why did my MIL decide to try and tell me her horrendous birth story when i saw her the other day 🙈 read the room, I don’t want to hear it!
Good luck!
My second was fully engaged from 34 weeks and I still went over due 😂

You must not be very far away from me I just got one free picture. Have you had good care from your area x
yes I’ve been happy so far. I had a rough time last year during the first lockdown with a miscarriage and they were great. I was in for 5 days and felt very safe and looked after. I’ve also had 3 operations for endometriosis in recent years and had good care.

I’m just annoyed that they don’t communicate their plans very well. Would be nice to know if their rules regarding scans and birth are going to change anytime soon! I’m not due until august so I’m hoping things will be less str

So so tired at the moment. I wake up twice in the night for a wee every night. The second one is always around 3:30-4:30am and I’m wide awake at that point for over an hour or more. Happens every single night and I’m really feeling the affects at work the next day. I feel so shit right now, just need a nap but I’m at work til 4.
That is a pain you’re at work until 4 but hopefully you will feel better once you get home and put your feet up. My tiredness is slowly diminishing how is your sickness? I also keep waking up really early and have to go the toilet a lot. Don’t know if you saw but the doctor I saw yesterday said I have SPD so I’ve ordered a pregnancy pillow have you bought one yet? Xx

Yay that's exciting @Kitt ! How many weeks will you be then?

I had my phone booking appt with the midwife yesterday. Decided on which hospital to proceed with and feel excited about it. Have my blood test next Friday am and am waiting for a letter to book my 12 week scan for the week after i hope.

Ive been watching random old youtube videos about pregnancy. Had you ladies heard of something called a harmony test? I think its something you pay £££s for privately and it tests for various things. Apparently these youtube girls who wete having these tests were about to find out the gender of their babies at 12 weeks!! Seems so early. I thought the earliest was 16 weeks (privately). Ive never heard of a harmony test! (not that i think id book one anywya for £4-500!!)
I heard the harmony test is more for looking at other things rather than gender however although it does tell you I believe. I don’t think the early blood tests are that accurate from what I have read for gender or early scans can be inaccurate. How was your booking call don’t you think some of the questions are so random like are you blood related to the father 🤣 do you want to find out the gender? My fiancé wants to find out so I told him he can be told end he can try and not tell me x

Yes I am bloody exhausted today, I could actually go to bed right now. 😔 where is this second trimester energy at?
Have you guys bought any new clothes or baby stuff yet? I just spent £100 on new bras as I could barely breathe in the one I was wearing yesterday!
I bought some ribbed grey flares and a bodysuit from Im the style they were only 24 for both and they look really nice and I think they will grow with me I bought my normal size other than that I wear leggings and over sized hoodies which I usually wear. Bras are really hard I just bought these really unattractive bras which look like sports bras but they are comfy and give me enough support. What kind of bras did you buy? I can’t stand wires unless I need the umph when I am dressed to go out x

no baby stuff yet but me and my fiancé looked at loads of prams last night and carriers and he’s looking at getting a new car. Have you bought any? I can’t help looking at the clothes in every super market I go to hahax

I doubt they will allow extra birth partners for a while, I think they will expand visiting first. Luckily my hospital is 8am til midnight on postnatal ward but that seems to be very rare!
