They'll ask you a bunch of medical history. Family medical history like diabetes ect. The baby's Dad's family history and his.
All things like that.

You won't find out the date of your scan but they will request the scan for you so you'll get a letter within the week after with a date (usually)
Thank you. I will prepare all of this.

Morning, a question for the ladies are who already moms. When baby sleeps during the day, where do you put it down to sleep? I’ve read bouncers aren’t really recommended. Do you have something set up downstairs for baby to have daytime sleeps in? How does it work?
I know lots of people swear by a Sleepyhead (think they are now rebranded as Dockatot). A little bit controversial as they aren't recommended by the Lullaby Trust but I think that's for overnight sleeping (might be incorrect) but should be fine for supervised daytime naps. I'm not sure if I'll get one as I'm thinking Moses basket initially, but apparently lots of babies that didn't sleep in a basket loved the Sleepyhead so I may get one if I'm desperate.

Anyone have any experience with the Aldi Moses basket? Really don't want to spend too much on one as they'll be outgrown after a few months!

Keep getting sharp pains deep in pelvis coupled with the urge to wee (but no wee there!) Only lasts seconds, is this what it feels like when the head is engaging? I hope so!
Ive had the same from about 35 weeks and I’m up every hr in the night to pee and literally a trickle comes out lol. I think it’s more pressure from her head than anything. I had a scan last week though and she wasn’t engaged yet but dr said her head was sitting very low can feel pressure etc when I’m walking as well

Can you recommend a good sling? Or do they all do the same thing 🙈 I think we get one in the baby boxes in Scotland but I'm not sure if every woman gets that or you have to meet criteria
Everyone in Scotland gets ones my midwife gave me the form at 22 week appointment, I think they are sent out around 32 weeks so I haven’t received mines yet but they look great 😄

Aw thank you. It was very sad but it happened early, which I'm thankful for. It happened exactly 2 weeks after my first positive, so I think I may be on pins for the next two weeks, but I am feeling a little more calm than I'd expected to!
That’s good to hear 😊 I know myself from experience after a loss that pregnancy can have you on tenterhooks. Hopefully all goes well for you

No it's usually all day and night for partners, during covid they are only allowed there between 11-2 which sucks!! And 3 hours after birth x
Ours is during established labour and up until the woman is moved onto the ward.

Which is mostly similar to how it was before.
Before it was the whole time you were in until moved onto the ward

Anybody else get the fear about going to brush your teeth? I put it off as long as possible cause I know it’ll make me sick or at the very least some serious retching.
Yes, absolutely. The amount of times I’ve had to stop brushing or flossing because of nausea and gagging 🤢 but the taste of unbrushed teeth makes me feel even worse so it’s worth the risk

My skin has been absolutely vile during pregnancy, SO dry and sensitive. I wish it were oily sometimes!!

Just had a call back from the midwife re my 12 week scan and blood test results. Downs/Edwards/Patau low risk but also have something called low Papp A and she’s told me I need to take aspirin for the rest of pregnancy in addition to extra growth scans. Has anyone else had this?

Honestly I really feel for you it’s killing me I thought I had walked into something or bruised myself however I really suffer with my hips and probably already have arthritis Iva head physio as well for it maybe that is contributing factor plus the baby I feel like John Wayne 🤪 xx

This is so annoying I cannot find anything for either hospital as I have to go to two one for scans and one where I will give birth so irritating x
It’s horrendous I already have a nearly 5 year old and 9 year old so trying to ‘homeschool’ (if I can even call it that) is hell 😆 I’m awaiting a scan on kidneys as doctors think this could be the issue. But, like you I suffered before being pregnant. Pregnancy has just worsened the symptoms I think! Hope you’re ok x

I remember one specifically where me, my friend and sister stayed at a hotel and it was haunted and my sister got up to go for a shower and became possessed and then all these faces and arms started coming out of the walls in the room it scared me that much it woke me up it felt so real. That night my husband was on nightshift and I was in the house on my own and started hallucinating it was so scary that’s the worst one I had that I can remember haven’t had one since as my sleep hasn’t been great in the last trimester.
Omg that sounds awful! My first one, being chased by killer clowns. I hate clowns, always have. The second was I had a spider all tangled up in my hair, it would not get out kept getting more ans more tangled so I had to squash it. This lead to loads of baby spiders coming out of it and being all in my hair, getting more tangled 🤢 ughhhh it was awful. Last nights was more something that could happen rather than my crazy brain. Why does pregnancy and hormones do this? Like sleep isn't hard enough to get!

Has everyone started to moisturise your tummy’s I have several oils and creams which are pregnancy safe started to do this more often and does anyone have a bit of a bump now I can still hide it but when I have leggings on and a t shirt you can tell x
Yes my tummy gets so dry so I've had to start moisturising, I really want to buy the bump.masl from boots I think it's new by rochelle hume's!, I'm definitely showing alot quicker than I did with my son but I don't think I'm as big as I was with him at 20 weeks I'm.living I'm baggy tops haha! Xx

Did you ladies gain much weight in your first trimester? I’ve put on 2kg and my doctor commented on it this morning 😭 Is that too much? My diet has been pretty poor because of nausea and food aversions but I’m just panicking about the weight gain now.

I’m not being funny but that is not normal hours am getting pissed off with having to do longer than my hours because my boss is home schooling so it’s either early morning calls which I hate and also some late at night but when I say late like the latest one was half 6 oh and that sociable zoom at 7 but even that aggravated me so I think he’s being unreasonable asking anyone to do that mental hours... x
It's crap. With all of the (supposed) pregnancy workplace laws and rights in place, it's mental how things like this and unreasonable bosses are still issues. x

Omg all this talk of carbs and I am soooo bloated 😩😩 actually in pain!
I am also so bloated too I am having real trouble even asked the midwife should I take fybogel, coffee may work but I have really tried to avoid it I feel your pain 😩
On the subject of dentists I know some private dentists have nhs patients but a very small number. I managed to go to a private dentist last June for an emergency root canal and crown it was extortionate so really hoping my teeth stay as they are now x

Hey everyone, can I ask if anyone experienced cramping in the very early days? I know it's normal but I just want to hear real experiences rather than internet reading! I'm actively avoiding Google!

I had my positive test on Saturday and it was pretty strong. From my calculations and opk tests, my period would likely be due tomorrow. So it's still very early but the fact I have cramps coinciding with my period due day is freaking me out a tad 😩 I had an early miscarriage last month, so while I'm thrilled we caught again so soon, I'm on pins now!
I had really bad cramps the day before and day of my period. I was convinced my period was coming, but got my bfp and now 31 weeks 😊

Morning all, feeling very sick this morning after not feeling sick yesterday so hoping that’s a good sign.

I’m wondering if I maybe have a kidney infection? I’m going to ask today. I used to be prone to them and I’m wondering if dehydration may have caused one and is causing this horrible lower back ache.
Hope you scan goes well today Kit xx

@Kitt my partner was getting on my nerves recently. I went out with a friend, had a bit of a rant on our walk (but explained he is absolutely lovely and trying his best), hes just pissing me off and felt a lot better after 😊

@CrimeJunkie what a horrible experience for you to go through. So happy you were able to have the private scan for reassurance and to have the experience you should have had. A 20 week scan is one that we all look forward to. Awful that the sonographer was so off with you both. There will be other women who won't be able tl book a private scan and will only have your first experience to go home with. Glad you complained.

@Chickenandgravy i dont know why, but i have a feeling im having a boy. I think i might be a 16 or 17 week scan (to find out) ans then see what is said at the 20 week scan like @Kitt. Ill keep you updated. Im so excited to find out 😁

Also, baby was clearly busy last night. I was ravenous at 5pm for food, had a big bowl of pasta at 6, then felt instantly knackered and went to bed at 8.30. Think i slept over 9 hours (according to my fitbit)!!

I slept with my the big bit of my pregnancy pillow last night and absolutely loved it. Supportive at the back and by the knees. 😊👍
I also think I’m having a boy no idea why but I just do? How many weeks are you I have lost the plot with who is on which week xx

That's great! Silly question perhaps but do you just store it in the freezer in the syringe and then take it with you to hospital when you give birth? And then feed baby directly from the syringe when needed? (after letting it defrost obv).

To all those talking about PGP, I'm 21 weeks and not sure if what I'm feeling is PGP. My general pelvic/abdomen/hip area feels like I've been doing intense core workouts (I haven't) combined with the sensation of someone pressing on a permanently full bladder. Also my legs are quite sore too. It's hard to turn over and get out of bed but once I start moving eg. go for a walk I feel OK apart from a heavy sensation in my pelvis which I assume is normal now. Does this sound like PGP? I'm a bit concerned about the bladder feeling so will give a urine sample to my GP tomorrow in case it's a UTI.
That isn’t what I have but could be something completely different mine is my actual pelvic bones moving and rubbing together feels like I have very sore /bruised nether regions. Definitely go to the doctors about it just to see what it is xx
