I’ve had constant nausea and am now 14 weeks. My advice is please don’t suffer in silence. My midwife wasn’t that bothered when I told her at my booking in appointment (at 8 weeks). Unfortunately it got worse and worse and I’ve lost 2 stone since Christmas. My consultant has now put me on medication and said that he’d wished I’d asked for help sooner and not been so quiet about it.

The tablets plus entering the 2nd trimester seem to have helping
Thank you. I’ve heard that the medication they give you can make you drowsy, is that right? I’m glad you’re starting to improve 😊

I am TTC I’m Scotland based, have really bad natural/ vaginal birth anxiety and was told to request a C section by my therapist when the time comes. Has anyone done this? I’m worried it isn’t as easy as requesting a section. Btw I’m aware a C section is still major surgery but I have a lot issues with a natural birth due to past traumas. Would love any advice! X
I haven’t been through this but c section was discussed on the last thread and there were a lot of women saying that they can’t deny you it if it’s what you want x

My job was literally just the 90% for 6 weeks and then the £150 for 33 weeks(which is minimum by law)
Both my jobs were the same both times I was on maternity leave
Mine doesn't look so bad in comparison to that now, that's rubbish for you!

It’s so shit isn’t it - if men gave birth we’d all get a years’ full pay 🙄 you say it’s a massive company but is there any scope for negotiation? I know someone who managed that but I think she worked for a tiny firm where no one had ever gone on mat leave before.

I am v lucky - my company has one of the best policies of all big companies in the UK. We get 32 weeks full pay plus 7 at SMP. Lots of people take a full year.
You're so right 😂 Im the first woman in 30 years to go on mat leave here but they are pleading poverty with the pandemic (even though I work in the drinks industry and everyone has been drinking more than they have the last 2 years combined 😂) so I doubt they will negotiate with me but also potentially worth a try. God you get a really good deal - very jealous 😂

I am already dreading pregnancy. I’m on week 4 now. I remember it being uncomfortable and all the horrible side effects. The constant UTI’s, tiredness, hair falling out, morning sickness, my gums being sore, getting a rash all over my body. I struggle to see how I will get through the next 35 weeks :( It’s different this time as I’ve got a toddler to look after too and can’t just sleep all day
What’s the best app to track pregnancy? I know some of them do the days /
Months weirdly
I like the Ovia app. It has a nice calendar on it with your weeks listed so you can easily see how far you will be at a certain date.

When did she get a positive test?
I had weird periods both times before 2 of my pregnancies.
One was so light I didn't even need to use anything. Yet I didn't fall pregnant until the month after.
The other one was pretty similar too!
Almost like my body knew it was going to fall pregnant!

Just wondering if she had similar and didn't get a positive test until a lot later
Ah okay that's interesting!! I'm not sure of her previous periods but I know it was around the 19th of Jan she got her positive test. And she has definitely been irregular period wise for a while

So when I calculated by my lmp I would have been further than I am however my periods are very irregular when I went for the early scan they said I was 5-6 weeks and everything was fine as far as they could see. My cycles can even be missed and skip a month and my average cycle is over 40 days I suggest she tries to wait a week or two abs go for an early scan. Sending my love to you and her because I have a feeling she is just very early in her pregnancy and ovulated very late. I had my period on 11/11/20 and I am 11 weeks tomorrow x

T

This is so weird but my last period I wouldn’t even call a period mine are usually excruciating and possibly endometriosis I also have pcos Andy last one was exactly the same very light coloured nothing like my normal ones so strange xx
Thank you ! That's really encouraging to hear. I have my fingers crossed so badly for her. X

I had a crunchie in the fridge to have a with a cuppa only to find my husband had eaten it for his breakfast-can’t tell if he is very stupid or very brave! My husband is great and so hands on and supportive so I feel bad saying this but this pregnancy I’m just really pissed off with him all the time, little things he does really massively piss me off and I just feel annoyed by him constantly. I’ve heard of people feeling like this but always assumed their partners were dicks-I can assure you that I am the dick and not him so I feel really guilty/sad about it.
You’re not alone! I’m being so snappy with my partner over tiny things that we would usually laugh about. I try and not be but it just keeps coming out! Sometimes his breathing sets me off 😫

Hey yes called this morning after having more blood when I got up and some back pain. I explained that I’ve already lost one and now I’m having these symptoms so she booked me straight in for a scan but they couldn’t get me in until tomorrow. Just gotta wait til then to find out if everything’s ok. Fingers crossed.
So glad you're booked in. Tomorrow can't come quick enough. Thinking of you xx

Did anyone have a low lying placenta and did it move?? Found out yesterday mine is low lying and anterior so if it doesn't move will have to have more scans and then if it doesn't move will have to have a c section which I don't want 😭
I had exactly the same at 20 week Scan so have another one in 4 weeks to see if it’s moved! Fingers crossed for us both ❤

Had my booking appointment over the phone with the midwife earlier. All good, she was really nice. She wasn’t happy that the private scan place called us back for a second scan to check on the twins and charged us for it. She says they should’ve referred me to the hospital if they thought I needed a second check scan. So she’s going to follow that up.
Hey nice that we have had them one day apart they are actually quite nice to talk to so many strange questions though I did actually mention the space cakes 🧁 and she said I don’t think we need to mention that and cackled at me 🤣 on the subject of private scans I have heard many mixed reviews on them which is why I haven’t paid for a private one I probably will if everything goes well. How are you feeling? Do you ever like go past the point of being hungry and end up feeling sick or is this just me xx

Surely chocolate milk will make it worse! Ha is on or failing that omeprazole from pharmacy or GP

You must take folic acid from now. Vitamin D too, throughout. The rest doesn’t matter too much and you don’t need pregnacare branded (pricey), I got pregnancy multivitamin from home bargains (must be pregnancy specific as you can’t have excessive vitamin A in pregnancy which standard multivitamins will contain)
Sorry stupid phone corrected Gaviscon to Ha is on! 🤦‍♀️

This is a lovely thread 😊

I’ve had my 12 week scan appointment through. It says that my husband cannot attend but I can FaceTime him. It says that he is allowed to attend the 20 week scan.

Is this pretty much the same for everyone?
Iv never had a scan letter that has info about the following scan, they usually only give the information for the scan that is being sent out for?

Random question - what perfume are you guys using atm? Am now 12 weeks, still really sickly and all of my usual perfumes make me feel worse - they smell very chemically 🤢🤢
Any recommendations welcomed!! Xxx

Turns out it wasn’t a show but my waters so with a little encouragement we will, unexpectedly, be meeting our girl today!

Sorry for anyone having a sucky time at the moment. Those due to circumstance 💜 and those due to pregnancy.... I pretty much hated every minute of it, have been in so much pain. And now I’m here, I’m almost missing it already 🙈
Good luck 🥰

Cheese on toast, plain chips or pringles have been my go-tos for the last few weeks. Carb overload. I can stomach fruit but I'm yet to go near a vegetable 🤢
I barely ate veg either couldn’t stomach it, now nearly 35 weeks and I’ve barely ate veg the whole way through but I could eat fruit all day. Went off so much food I either just want fast food or something plain

My community midwives have us pee there. I don’t have the pots at home to do it beforehand although would prefer it!
At mine I was told to take the sample back with me and reuse the pot for next time. Happened 3 years ago with my first too!
