I’m the poster who had friends, family and strangers revel in telling how I am, my midwife got me a scan to see how big she is actually measuring as she agreed my bump is large. Has anyone been told their baby has a big head or had a first baby with a big head? I’m worried about the delivery, like getting stuck, forceps & shoulder dysplasia.
I can only find birth stories online with women who have had large babies as their second.
My baby is on track to be 9-10lb and her head measurement was off the scale thingy.
I’ve felt miserable since finding this out this morning. I’m 29+3 I think, I’m too miserable to even double check on the app x
my son was 11lbs at 37weeks, I’ll happily share our plan and what happened.

Yes please, it’s also not just her weight it’s her head size/proportion which is also worrying me
Babypotatos head was MASSIVE, so massive that it got stuck during the section so he was just sat there having a cry while they had to further cut the incision to get his shoulders out. My midwives and my consultant told me by 30 weeks that I could deliver naturally but it would end in being cut or a section anyways. By 34 weeks the section was planned. I’ll try and find his head measurements and all the community midwives were like “not a chance”.

Baby potato never engaged either. Probably no room.

Thank you x
That’s basically what my midwife was saying today & why I’m swaying towards an elective section, if her head is measuring this large at 29 weeks then it’s only going to get bigger surely.
My partner is trying to protect me from a traumatic/forceps birth but because of medical stuff I’ll have to be put to sleep, not be under local anaesthetic. Feel whatever I chose has it’s risks (I suppose everyone does, just feeling sorry for myself)
I was 6lb & he was 7lb so I’m really surprised she’s so big.

Mine has doubled in size on the centiles so will let you all know when I go back on Wednesday. The midwife told me that they shouldn’t measure you until 28 weeks because they aren’t accurate so babies real measurement is the 28 week one 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Ah this is good to know. Im feeling massive since my baby measured on the 95-97% percentile at my 25 week scan.

I was 9lbs and husband was 10lbs 11, and I’ve mentioned before that both of us are above average height and build. I’m 5ft8 and husband is 6ft3. All the community midwives were in a panic over this huge baby, while one midwife just said that we were never going to have a tiny baby. Mine was an elective section and I can’t fault it, the team were fantastic. My husband sounds like your partner, he didn’t want a traumatic experience for me for the sake of having a “natural birth” and he wanted me to be safe.

the reasons why we had a section were that my son was huge, I have hip dyplasia and was really in a lot of pain, and plus he had a suspected hole in his heart.

here’s his growth scan 28w5days

smallpotatoes is my sons favourite TV show, it’s absolutely precious!

I’m far from a small potato. I’m like a sweet jacket potato!
I have never heard of it but it sounds cute! I am already bracing myself for my least favourite programme ever which is Pepper patronising pig 🧐🤪 I’m like a tangerine 🍊 small round and orange my fake tan is also soo patchy because I can’t do it very well anymore 😂 x

I'm genuinely refusing to have Peppa pig in this house 😂 my baby cousins have made me despise that bloody pig!

Thank you so much, it’s helping taking to someone who’s been through what I think will happen to me.
I’m 5’7 and he’s 5’10 but we’re guessing the legs have come from our dads as they’re both 6ft+ … my partner is very proud of himself that hes growing a big strong girl ha…
They didn’t give me a growth chart thingy like that today, just loads of small individual charts for different measurements, like head, tummy, leg etc.

Here’s the little scale thing that shes flying off

we don’t do Peppa as she’s rude to her Daddy!🤣 Small Potatoes have an album out as well, full of proper bangers! Small and round, so cute!!!

my Dad is a huge bloke, while my mum is a 4ft11 pocket sized human! My son has evened out now, but he’s predicted to be over 6ft. His feet are a size 11 🤦🏼‍♀️

We had this growth chart as my consultant was making a prediction of how big he was going to be. My son was always 3 weeks ahead, at the 12 week scan he was 15 weeks. My dates were correct though!

I found midwives to be really scared of big babies, as in they like a plan and they want to know why. I had 4 diabetes tests as they were convinced I was diabetic. I was annoyed as I felt they just didn’t look at the bigger picture, that both husband and I are giant people.

Im all for people having the birth they want, and it being safe. People were surprised that I was happy with an elective section, but it meant it was planned, calm and the benefits outweighed the risks. My son was the biggest baby born in that hospital for 2017 and didn’t fit in the NICU tub for monitoring 🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm 21weeks. My boobs are SO sensitive. Been like it a few weeks. Were overly sensitive in the first trimester though. Just thought I'd put this out there ... 🤣

Yes! She’s always been ahead, at 12 weeks she presented as 2 weeks bigger but we knew our dates and refused the due date to be changed. Every scan since has questioned us on my last period/conception.
Thank you so much, it’s really helped hearing it from your perspective and I feared having a c section would be viewed as ‘taking the easy option’ even though it still has its risks.
Appreciate you taking the time to share your story ❤

At least baby is just big all over though… means they’re healthy but just growing well ☺
Thank you 😌❤ I just saw big head and long legs lol

I had my section on the Thursday, and by Monday I walked the mile into town for Starbucks. You know, essentials. C Sections are still seen as major surgery; I had a PICO wound pump on for over a week, and I struggled with breastfeeding as my milk didn’t come in for 3/4 days. We were questioned on our dates too, but I’m an insane person who writes everything down, and I was on nights on their predicted conception date. Not a chance 👏🏻

Hi lovely, I have 2 big headed babies here, off the chart on scans, off the chart at birth and definitely off the chart now they are 3 and 1. Please DO NOT WORRY. I cannot stress this enough. They LOVE worrying pregnant women about things like head sizes. We even got absolutely terrified into ours having something called ventriculomegaly (enlarged brain ventricles), had to have SO many extra scans including ones at a specialist foetal medicine but their actual diagnosis was that they just had big heads in the end which meant big brains 🙃 My mum was told we had giant heads too (I really do have a big head to this day 🤣) and delivered us safely and absolutely fine naturally, I only had a c section because my eldest got stuck in my pelvis but not due to his head size at all or shoulder dystocia at all. You get the impression that they’ll come out with heads double the size of their bodies but I promise you with my whole heart that they won’t, you won’t even think they’ve got a big head because it’ll be in proportion. If you feel more comfortable having an elective then push for one, but your baby will not be bigger than your body can handle I can promise you that. Shoulder dystocia isn’t usually to do with large heads and 9/10lbs is a really good projecting weight but these things are never the full picture and quite often are innacurate. Sorry for the waffle but I really hope you’re okay, try and keep your chin up ❤ Xxx
