Using ‘if that makes sense’ in situations where no one could have been confused.
‘I’m not hungry now so I’ll just have dinner later if that makes sense.’
Well gosh, thanks for checking with me that I was able comprehend your brain teaser there.

People referring to their pets as ‘fur babies’.
People who advertise pets as looking for their ‘forever home’.

As an animal lover, and someone who grew up with, and still has pets, I’ve no idea why it irks me so much but it does.

"if you ask me..."
"To tell you the truth"
"To be honest with you"

All three irk me especially the first because in essence no one actually did "ask you"

People who start a sentence with 'pretty sure' as in, 'pretty sure she said she was trying for a baby'. It just sounds so snakey and sly.

People who respond with 'absolutely'

Hey instead of hi or hello.

People who litter sentences with repeated use of the words like/obviously/literally/ramdom - I was like no way thats so random and she was like why and I was like I literally dont know and she was like well I asked but obviously he said no and I was like literally gutted because it was so obviously random.

As you can tell I have a low tolerance level.

when people say (and I don't think I'd ever heard this before this year, I think I watch too much random youtube) "it just hits different"

"Experts"

I know that's a huge generalisation because there are many, many, many genuine experts who know their tit inside and out.

However, as we're all probably aware by now we have "expert" scientists advising the government on what is best for the country in the face of this Covid-19 pandemic crisis.

Time and time again, the advice from said experts has been scrutinized and criticized by other experts who haven't been invited to the grown-ups table in order to offer a more broader view.

Whenever I read a news article my teeth grind as soon as I read the word "expert", SAGE, Vallance and/or Whitty in the same sentence

When newspaper websites like the Daily Mail, refer to someone giving birth to a child, as "welcoming" their first child. I find the expression quite toe curling.
Another DM gem: revellers - while referring to literally everyone 😂

Newspapers and websites writing how a celebrity woman is "showing off her toned legs" when said person is just wearing a pair of shorts and minding their business. Cheap journalism should be banned altogether.

I still can't get my head round how The Sun "newspaper" used to have a Page 3 topless woman! What was the purpose of that other than for sales?

I've seen loads of videos on Facebook recently, which are supposedly 'wholesome'. Eg, 'this video of newborn puppies is just so wholesome'. It just seems a really odd way of describing things to me. Is this an influencer term?

was about to say the same! I saw a planespotter on insta being described as wholesome- how does liking planes equate to being wholesome?! As opposed to liking porn and horror movies maybe 😂

Has anyone here mentioned the misuse of the word ‘aesthetic’ yet? IG people seem to be using it as an adjective.

Well it is an adjective too.

But yes it is overused. E.g. "autumn is my favourite aesthetic" 🙄

My thought is that people use the word because it sounds "Sophisticated"
yeh , I think generally loads of people use "sophisticated" words in the wrong context and just end up sounding stupid

I hate referring to a woman's female friends as "girlfriends." It's unnecessary; why not just say friends? It feels a bit patronising, since we don't refer to male friends as "boyfriends." And since most of the women in my circle of friends are bi or lesbians, when a woman talks about a "girlfriend" I assume she means someone she's dating

I’m sick of hearing “I’m overwhelmed” do half of the people saying it actually know what it means? It’s all I ever hear these days.

I have heard one of my gay friends, referring to his other gay male friends as girls. Is this normal.
