Totally recognise all these feelings of just feeling old ...in my head I'm still 18 and then I look in the mirror or my knees crack when I move and its just so depressing at times.

When i had my first HRT review the doc said she had a lady still on HRT at 90 something because it made her feel fab and she didn't want to come off it!!!

I do have bad news though - I have discovered that exercise does in fact make you feel better  I've been doing a bit each day for three weeks and i'm sleeping better, coping better with stress and have more energy - ffs why can't donuts do that to you!!

At our age we need to be doing strength training and I've nearly done this four week beginners programme on youtube. I think its aimed at seniors but its great for beginners and for anyone who needs to go easy to start with. oh and if you want dumbells asda had some very reasonably priced one on their website - three weeks in and i can feel a muscle in my arm!

I agree with all of this. I've read a few books on menopause now and it became clear that I have to try to think of it as a reverse puberty. It's natural and normal but totally tit.

There are also harsh truths - we just can't get away with things we used to. I really think how we respond to menopause sets us up for how we age and how healthy our last twenty years will be.

My knees make their own soundtrack when I walk up the stairs these days and it takes me about a minute of walking to stop feeling as stiff as a board.

I looked like I had been dug up this morning. I put my clothes next to my face to see which ones made me look better and they all looked tit. So much for cool autumn/warm summer or whatever. Just give me my old face and body back pls.

I have some seriously gross stuff going on with my stomach and bowels and google said last night I need to a) see someone and b) it could be exacerbated by peri stuff. I think it’s likely that years of eating like a twit has caused this but bleeding heavily from 2 places is making me feel horrific. I know I should see someone but for various reasons I just cannot be put on medication that can affect weight right now.

So glad to hear happy stories though 🥰.

Hey, my love, I don't know if you remember, but I have ulcerative colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease). I was bleeding and sick for ages and ignored it as I hate doctors and just put it down to stress, but when I finally did get it diagnosed, they put me on a suppository, which didn't lead to any weight gain/puffiness. Various treatments don't involve heavy steroids if you do have an IBD. I was also v anaemic, so do please get it checked out when you feel up to it, as all that bleeding will be depleting your energy reserves. Sending you big Bri hugs ❤

hugs to everyone who needs them.

question: anyone else peeing constantly (or what feels like constantly) since starting the patches? i spent some time with my siblings this weekend and they both commented on the amount of times i need to go to the toilet.
I've started cutting my evening walks short because i'm just too desperate for a pee.

example: i've been in the office since 8.55 and just about to go for my 4th time.

Thank you so much. I do remember you talking about it ❤ and thank you for your reassurance (I know I sound like a child once I’ve re-read my post, but my head is all over the place).
I will get up the courage to go.

You don't sound like a child at all, but your body is trying to tell you something, so don't ignore it (from the woman who ignored her symptoms for years 🙃).

Has anybody taken FabU shrooms supplements? I’m taking them a few months and am finding a big difference in my mood especially. I was thinking am I just in better form these days although I can’t have gone more chilled for no good reason.
I totally identify what other posters saying about not feeling right in your skin. I do loads of exercise, keep active and lately everything I have feels blah on me. My waist is thicker and my legs are thicker. 🫢 Feel like I’m losing my little spark or part of my self confidence is messed up. Never had this feeling before.

A friend noted this effect. It’s possible you’re not fully emptying your bladder, or maybe losing water retention?

It’s my face for me. I look in the mirror and just see my mum instead of me.
oh my goodness yes. i bought a new dress a few weeks ago and felt good in it when i wore it out. i took a wee selfie, though didn't do anything with it - i don't post selfies on social media, i hate them, but i digress...

it was in my deleted folder and i knew my sparks card was in there too. i looked at it (the selfie) today in the queue for M&S and honestly just nearly died. i didn't realise how old i look.

Hi, I just frantically searched for a thread on this as I feel like I’m losing my mind! 44, and oh my god the rage! I’m angry at everyone and everything and I don’t want to be. I’m actually on the verge of tears as I feel so sick of life, just stuck and it’s like Groundhog Day. I need a nap most days and I can’t sleep at night. I’m hating my life right now. Nothing feels enjoyable. I feel like I’m actually going crazy. I’m taking a lot of supplements to see if that helps. But just wanted people to talk to in the same boat. Sorry to have just appeared and ranted x

Terrible rage!! Frightening almost- I walked out of work last week. I felt that if I hadn’t I’d have completely lost it. I have had a murderously difficult 3 years so it’s hard to know if it’s menopause or just being pissed off!

I’ve had patches and the mirena coil for the last few years which was working well but the last few weeks I’ve felt horrendous anxiety for absolutely no reason. I fell like I can’t breathe properly or take a deep breath. It’s horrible 😢

dunno if I'm just tired, but I'm really feeling things today. 301 days since a bleed

when it comes to physicality, my face still looks ok for 40 cos I've always had proper chubby cheeks and a round face and I'm annoyed at feeling old

but both my arms and and boobs have really disappeared over the last few months

I've gone from an e cup to what is probs a b cup (dunno really, I'm pretty much just wearing bralettes recently)

One good thing, despite noticing recently how old I’m looking, is that since starting on the HRT patches my period is a dream compared to how it was before.
bleed with no pain or cramp. I’ve said on here before - since my early teens my period has resulted in probably at least a half day sickness every month from school, college or work, operations, examinations, d&v, you get the picture.
Now I’m tired because the blood loss is heavy, but no pain whatsoever - I’m amazed.

I was the same yesterday, I completely lost it and was so angry for about 2 hours and couldn’t calm down. I wanted to walk but I have it too cushty. I definitely resonate though. Are we being irrational or is it justified. It’s so hard. I’m so tired of being pissed off constantly 🥹

That’s great news for you. I’m glad you are getting a rest from all that x

Anyone in peri/mid forties losing their identity a bit. Hard to explain but i’m the same clothes size, pretty active and eat well. But i just feel… BLAH nothing seems to hang or look right clothes wise, I feel frumpy even in clothes i’ve loved for ages.

i just feel like i’ve no confidence in anything anymore. Feel like people will be judging everything i do or say etc. I know some of that can be related to anxiety but the last couple of months it’s just different….

I should add i’m not a hugely self confident person anyway but it’s all on a whole different weird level.
This is me too. And the more upset I get about my physical appearance the less patience I seem to have with anyone or anything else. Really weird to explain. But it's like so much us happening to me and I can't focus on trying to help improve one thing.
I just feel exhausted too, most days I'm in tears. Sending love to everyone struggling x

I have started back up with the ridiculous anxiety. It had gone away for a few months but now ever awful thing I hear ( car crash, rare diseases, freak accidents) it feels like it is going to happen to someone I love or me and that really it would be better to just kill myself at a certain point to avoid the ever increasing risk of whatever freak accident I have just heard about. I know it is irrational but the fear is real and I hate it!
