I try and do my gel in the morning, and then take my progesterone at bedtime. Mainly in case MrYoda fancies getting frisky (unlikely).

OK, thanks.
Guess I will do the gel when I get home and the progesterone abit later.
Thank you

Trying to enjoy myself on my solo break at Center Parcs but I have severe imposter syndrome being here on my own. Surrounded by families and groups of friends. I must ignore

You have an equal right to be there and enjoy yourself as much as anyone else ❤
I bet some of the families and friendship groups wish they were there on their own!

I’m 41 and been on HRT patches for over 2 months now. Visited GP due to various symptoms and went nearly 70 days without a period. Blood test showed FSH of 54, which is classed as menopausal range. I wouldn’t say the patches are a miracle, but they’ve definitely helped a lot! Hot flashes vanished completely, my eyes are less dry and my sleep has improved a bit.

One issue I’ve recently had is a suspected uti that started early September. A dip stick test was done that showed nitrates (sign of infection) and I was given antibiotics. Urine culture sent to lab showed “mix culture” (I.e. contaminated sample) and therefore inconclusive. Improved a bit after antibiotics but then symptoms returned. Was given another course of antibiotics without a urine test. Again, felt some improvement, but not fully and still suffering. Contacted GP again who told me the one urine test I had done showed no confirmed infection and therefore she thinks I have urogenital atrophy due to perimenopause and blamed it on that. I don’t agree! I am convinced I have an infection - I know my body. Don’t know how many times I’m peeing, but maybe 30 - 40 times a day (and night)! I also keep getting a sharp stinging pain in my urethra. GP prescribed vaginal estrogen, which I’m giving a go, as I’ve read it’s good to take anyway, but it’s not sorting these symptoms. There was no offer of another urine sample, she just tried to fob me off with having atrophy. Anyway, I told her I want another urine culture doing anyway and took a sample in today.

Worrying thing is I’ve been doing a lot of reading up on it and apparently the NHS urine culture test isn’t fit for purpose and misses a significant number of infections, giving false negatives meaning some women are fobbed off and can suffer long-term. Interesting (and quite shocking) article here: https://amp.archive.is/oldest/https...w-uti-urinary-tract-infections-testing-method

If my test comes back negative and I still have symptoms, I’ve found a company that does dna testing and I will have no choice but to pay £189 to get it done. I can’t go on suffering like this. This all started after sex. I used to suffer with cystitis in my early 20s, but haven’t had a problem in years until now 😰 I hope I get the right antibiotics to treat it and then going forwards the vagifem I’ve been prescribed can help this from happening again 🙏🏻

D Mannose tablets are great for preventing infections taking hold. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, I’ve got some but they’re not helping. I’m guessing they work better at preventing infections rather than getting rid of an existing one.

You could try xylitol. Just be aware that it can cause horrendous toilet issues if you take too much (unless you’re horrifically constipated). 1/8-1/4 teaspoon is plenty. I tipped from the bag one morning, was in a rush, must’ve got about three teaspoons, took the kids to school and staggered the mile and a bit home in agony thinking the worst would happen.

Appreciate that you obviously know your own body but there are a frightening amount of women out there who are getting symptoms like this through peri and vaginal oestrogen taken over a period of time can really help so definitely bear with that. It might not be down to peri but it is a very common symptom (another gift that keeps giving)

Buy the dipsticks and test yourself, if you have a bad infection you can push for a referral.

Period again. Not even two weeks break this time. I just read this is a symptom of early menopause. I’m 51?

My leg pain has gone but I’ve done nothing at all different this week or two. Happy but baffled!

What are peoples experiences of HRT and needing to up it? I've been on it about a year and it made me feel amazing to start with - 2 pumps of gel a day and the progesterone tablet - but I think its wearing off and the last month or so my anxiety is through the roof. My son just had some friends come to the door - new ones I've not seen before - and I've immediately thought they are not friends but bullies (they aren't!) and he's in an awful situation and the worst is going to happen and I could cry about it, having spent the last two weeks crying at my daughters school about things going on there. I have SEN kids its always a drama but I can usually cope much better than I can right now - I feel a bit like I'm going a bit mad and like I'm not quite in control which I think is how I felt before I started HRT but my memory is tit too  Has anyone else had this and is it worth seeing the GP about upping my dosage?

I hope that makes sense but gives a sign of what a mess my brain is in x

Is there anyone in this group with Endo who can share their experiences of HRT and whether it made symptoms worse?

I’ve had 3 hot flushes/flashes whatever since Friday afternoon. The last one, yesterday morning started as I was cleaning before work. Mrs T came back from walking the dog as I was sweeping outside and commented that I looked like I was dying. Nice.

I left the house with all the windows open at a brisk 13 degrees. I think she and the dog are going to suffer this winter because I am hot all
the time (I used to be freezing).

Then after work, I went to get my hair cut and although my hairdresser moved salons 6 months ago and I have been to her new salon 5 times, I drove to her old one. It had closed early so I was outside texting her asking whether she was ok because the salon was shut. I had no idea why she wasn’t there. She said she was fine and was I ok because I was late (🥴😖) and only after 5 or so messages did we click that I was outside the wrong place. WTF?

10 more years of this? HRT is going to be a no because they can’t give me oestrogen because of my cluster headaches and the mini pill was sending me wild for the last few years so I came off it.

(Anxiety is just off the scale too and I seem to have developed tennis elbow from lifting weights. 😖😖😖😖😖😖)

Frozen shoulder and tennis elbow are common in peri. I’ve had both.
