I can understand you like to post on here to vent but you need to just end the relationship.

My husband suffers badly with hayfever and it makes him really tired and moody but I can just ignore it.

Why are you staying in such an unhappy relationship?

bleeping UTIs.

I never used to get these, then I got into my late 30s/early 40s and it's like a plague. Most go away on their own after a brief while but a couple of times a year I get really aggressive, stubborn guys that demand medical intervention.

This stage of life appears to be extremely crappy unless I'm just unlucky.

Have you been using vaginal estrogen cream? Apparently it's great at avoiding UTIs.

I use it but for stopping frequent urination

I’m under urology now for UTI symptoms, but I test negative on usual NHS swabs. I’ve had lots of investigations and they think it’s interstitial cystitis, which is horrible. I’m also wondering about an embedded UTI.

Keep a symptom record (and record number of times you go to the loo when you have a flare). Look at patterns (do symptoms flare after you’ve eaten/drunk something/after sex?). You can ask for an urology referral when you’ve got evidence like this and they can do more investigations like a cystoscopy. I’m currently having bladder installations, which are helping, but I still get urgency and frequency symptoms

I find that D-mannose helps with symptoms in the meantime. Echo the advice to try vaginal oestrogen, it didn’t help me, but it’s worth a try! Happy to help with any questions you have, as I’ve been under urology for a few years now

Cherry Healey has a lot of content on her Instagram about UTIs. She has had them for most of her life apparently.

Does anyone take gummies to help with their symptoms? Ankhway mushroom gummies keep popping up on my socials and I’m wondering if they are any good

Ive started taking ashwagandha alongside my nightly magnesium and it does seem to be helping my sleep. I've been taking magnesium alone for almost a year but its started to lose effect recently. I'll be rattling with all the supplements I'm meant to be taking soon 😆

I take ashwagandha with magnesium at night too, it definitely helps me sleep, even if I only get around 3-4hrs I feel like I’ve had quality sleep with it. but yea I’ve noticed the magnesium doesn’t always have the same effect it once did so I’m guessing my body has got used to it, I started taking it for leg cramps and IT band pain, it worked a treat initially but I’ve noticed the cramps and pain are creeping back again occasionally. I’m the same with supplements, I rattle! But if it’s doing some good I’ll persevere 😁

I'm sorry to all who have experiences with UTIs/regular UTIs. It really is awful but there is some good advice out there I'm attempting to follow.

For now, I've just finished a brief course of antibiotics so keeping my fingers crossed I will see some relief soon. Thankfully, I had a sympathetic GP on the other end of the line when I rang up. Too often it's been the opposite story and I've been left to either try and deal with things on my own or be made to feel really annoying for 'nagging' for treatment.

The other thing my urology consultant said was that shorter courses of AB are often problematic. She wrote to my GP to say that when I get a UTI, I need to be given a longer course.
Please don’t feel you’re nagging, UTIs are horrible!

For those with sleep issues. I've been using magnesium tablets for ages. Someone recommended healthy metal sachets. Wow, is all I can say!

No issues with digestion. They are raspberry lemon flavour. I didn't like them warm, but cold was lovely. They aren't cheap but they do a trial session for postage costs.

thank you I will give them a go as would do anything to improve my sleep (I used to sleep like a baby until recently). I either wake up with restless legs, needing a wee or itching so looking for something to put me into a deeper sleep. Damn hormones.

Let us know how they go. I've taken to sleeping with my legs on a pillow and I use a magnesium lotion every night. It's definitely helped

I’ve just been for my three month HRT review and explained my issue with the combined patch. Things have improved this week to be fair which we did eventually get around to.
But she said that it was ‘unconventional’ to prescribe HRT as I’m only 41 and my blood results didn’t indicate a problem. Seriously am I really back to this again. She didn’t seem to understand how it worked and that progesterone is only given for two weeks.
I was eventually able to get across that things have improved overall and she gave me the option of the mirena coil or to stick with the combined patch. But she is going to seek advice and call me after 5pm. I told her that I will complain if it is taken off me. I did have this anxiety today about whether seeing another doctor could result in it being taken off me.

I can't imagine this happening if men had the menopause. I am sure there would be better treatment options without the lottery of having treatment changed or removed dependent on the personal views of the person treating you. I know so many women with fear of not being listened to, and the resulting symptoms.

I thought the same myself. Although the male GP who prescribed it in the first place seemed more open to being wrong. The female GPs seem very fixed on the guidance and it not being possible under 45.
She did prescribe the HRT, but only three months worth so I will probably have to go through the same thing again. I could see that she was desperate to give me anti-depressants. She didn’t ask the right questions because she was too busy trying to convince me that I’m depressed and not perimenopausal.

Wtf is this about and their incessant use of antidepressants as a go-to problem solver?!! Some, if not most of us are not bloody depressed, it's the physical symptoms not the mental side that are wrecking our heads. Arghhh ffs!! I've asked this before but are we allowed recommend people to go to so we're NOT constantly wasting €65 on a dismissive GP?

The lack of joining up the dots would show, that some women are depressed BECAUSE of the physical issue side. Treat the primary cause of those first before resorting to antidepressants. 🥹
