bleeping UTIs.
I never used to get these, then I got into my late 30s/early 40s and it's like a plague. Most go away on their own after a brief while but a couple of times a year I get really aggressive, stubborn guys that demand medical intervention.
This stage of life appears to be extremely crappy unless I'm just unlucky.
I’m under urology now for UTI symptoms, but I test negative on usual NHS swabs. I’ve had lots of investigations and they think it’s interstitial cystitis, which is horrible. I’m also wondering about an embedded UTI.
Keep a symptom record (and record number of times you go to the loo when you have a flare). Look at patterns (do symptoms flare after you’ve eaten/drunk something/after sex?). You can ask for an urology referral when you’ve got evidence like this and they can do more investigations like a cystoscopy. I’m currently having bladder installations, which are helping, but I still get urgency and frequency symptoms
I find that D-mannose helps with symptoms in the meantime. Echo the advice to try vaginal oestrogen, it didn’t help me, but it’s worth a try! Happy to help with any questions you have, as I’ve been under urology for a few years now
