I recently read that Paula Yates died on Pixie's 10th birthday. That seems incredibly sad. It seems that Paula didn't have a heroin addiction though, as the coroner ruled that her death was not a suicide, but a result of "foolish and incautious" behaviour. A friend disclosed during the inquest that Paula had not taken illegal drugs for nearly two years, and the coroner concluded that though the amount she had taken would not have killed an addict, as "an unsophisticated taker of heroin", Yates had no tolerance to the drug.
If Paula didn't have a heroin addiction, why would she choose to take heroin when in the presence of her 4 year old? That doesn't make any sense to me. If she had an addiction and her judgement was clouded due to that, sure. But just "for fun"? Seems odd to me.
