It sounds like you have tea! Share your tea, slop! I can’t say I’m hugely surprised though - as someone who boozes and struggles with the darkness - I know only too well that the two aren’t great bedfellows.

she’s definitely been mentioned less in recent weeks - maybe one of them reads here?! I for one just want to see Robins happy (this is a fave thread, after all) whether that’s with Lou, someone else or on his own.

Aww yeah, I agree. I have all the time in the world for him so wish no ill will, but do enjoy some innocent speculation... hopefully they don't read here but if they do, Marry Me, Robins! Ahem.

I don't have tea per se - just someone who knows someone (so very tenuous) that says he's a massive boozer and not always a good one. But I think that could apply to most people! And like I said, I don't think it's really adding anything new to what he says himself on various public platforms.

no more Johnny JR on TMUW. I feel like this is a long time coming but I’m no less gutted to lose my favourite pod. I really feel for the lovely Robin too. What a shame. Obviously I understand that an alcoholic running a pub podcast was never going to continue long term, but for some reason given that John had managed for 8 months I thought somehow it would defy my cynicism.

yes, I know I’m talking about a podcast but it’s the only one me and my FTBF listen to together. I know people who have been on it. I’ve loved the music. The guests. Everything. RIP TMUW.

Oh my goodness!! My people. I’ve found you on Tattle! How nice to have some good people to talk about amidst all the horrors we normally deal with.

Retro One-r far too many times over, live vibe chaser etc etc. Husband takes the piss out of the fact I refer to them as if I know them.

John’s post was beautiful. I always feel oddly proud of him and Elis (and Dave). I am hoping for nothing but good things for him.

The musician moving horses via music was lovely

Ah he was great! Like they said, that was a really different way to think about music.

And the woman who was on this week, when she said she wanted to visit Snowdonia because of the feral horses, she sounded so interesting! I’d love to ask her more questions about what she does.

I thought it would be shit when they first described it haha but they’re getting really good people on it, and they’re asking good questions to the next Dave.

I get the impression she was just reacting to a public statement and wanted to call him out publicly, seeing it as quite hypocritical. I mean, who knows what's going on in the lives of others? We can only speculate.

it was hypocritical in her opinion and in her experience. He’s said he didn’t know what the background was. I just think this could have been done offline.

No, they only had the live show and then those who bought tickets could watch it for like 48 hours afterwards!

Rather embarassingly i DID then rewatch it and made sure to record the bit where it was spoken about.



Someone tweeted that they didn't have Ivo down as a "drinking from a can" type of guy.

Ivo then obviously saw the tweet.

I then tweeted back to guy one that he'd switched to a glass and had obviously seen the tweet.

Ivo then tweeted back to me saying "guilty as charged".

Then later on in the show they were chatting about what they were drinking and Ivo made a comment about the tweet conversations and I was there like "oh my god that was me!".

He then posted on twitter the following the next day to firmly place me in the Elis and John Hall of Fame (which is only in my mind space).

I'm SOMEONE ELSE!

I love it!!! Definitely in the hall of fame!!!

Ha! That's loosely how I got into Elis and John too (not the Xfm bit mind). But the fancying someone.

My ex full time BF was LOVED their podcast and kept talking about them, telling me how much I should listen blah blah - it was round about the time they were leaving Xfm, and I listened to a few (really as a way of having something else in common with my ex), and I found I got where he was coming from.

My relationship ended not much later, but my love for Elis and John only grew. I did wonder if it would wane after we broke up but not even remotely Became a retro oner, have seen the lads live, have merch in the house. All because I wanted to impress my ex essentially.

Hilarious the things we do eh!

Same here swish! My FTB was a massive fan, and recommended the pod to me. I caught up and he stopped listening! We are still together and he says he will catch up but he’s got 4 years to get through…

At risk of sounding "obsessed" I think he only wears two on one hand, the wedding and pinky. However if he's like me (and in a lot of ways he is, worryingly), I take my rings off when I get home.

Started listening to the Iain Lee Ep of HDYC last night and I imagine that, had he spoken about cocaine the way he did when John was drinking, it would have helped John kick the booze sooner... the same way TMUQ Barry ep did. Does anyone else feel like Elis hardly speaks during HDYC? I'm a massive Robins apologist so might be skewed but it feels like John could do the show alone.

What do we think the big 'good' announcement could be?!

I think they’ve spoken before about how John drives a lot of the conversation, whether that’s XFM/Radio X/5 Live. I agree, it’s more evident in HDYC, but I suppose because their radio brand is so clearly them as a duo, it naturally became a two-hander. I think Elis balances John in that he is maybe more restrained in talking about issues? In that sense it’s probably a good reflection of the difference in how men deal with things.
