Extremely long time lurker here. Felt I had to jump on to this. I'm approaching mid 30s and have an extremely compromised reproductive system. I am having to jump through fire hoops to get the help that I desperately need. Chances of natural conception are low. I am hoping to have my eggs frozen soon, and surrogacy appeals to me. My older sister who has carried 3 of her own children has selflessly offered to be a surrogate if she could. My body has been through HELL most of my life, the thought of IVF is extremely triggering for me. So what do I do? Not have kids? Adopt? That can take so so long and is extremely difficult process.

I am not rich, not even close. I don't even own a house yet.

I fully agree with this Hollywood "trend" and how unacceptable it is, but don't bash all surrogacy situations because NO ONE knows what any woman/couples are going through.

Going back into the lurking shadows whilst I pray for a miracle that one day I will be a mother.

I would like to hear what a professional has to say about teens like Paris, who are completely out of control.

She had several issues root themselves as problems later, she was spoilt and denied at the same time. In the docu Nicky says how just about everything was forbidden, the parents were extremely strict and the girls had stricter curfews than their peers.
At the same time Paris received a credit card without a limit for her bday (16?) and shopped so much, the bills were massive, which is why Nicky got a credit card with a limit later at the same age (this was not said in the docu).

Then the home video of one Xmas, the girls are teens and Paris received a Chanel flap and dropped it like it was worthless and wouldn't really answer her dad on the video. I think that showed a lot how broken she was.

On one hand I have sympathy for parents whose kids go totally bananas off the rails and they don't know what to do.
On the other hand Kathy came off like an ass and I just think she was a shyte parent.

Paris was sent to several boot camps and she told her parents how abusive they were and she promised she wouldn't party anymore etc and they didn't listen at all and in the end sent her to Utah (the last "boarding school"/boot camp of her life, which was the most abusive).
The parents knew and yet Kathy pretends like she didn't and like some of it she's hearing for the first time. When those years were the topic, you could see how she was calculating what she'd say.
The fact that Provo kidnaps kids to get them to that school is just so fcked up I don't understand how any parent can even entertain the idea to enroll their child.
That kidnapping alone is enough to fuck up a child's relationship with their parents for life.

Provo now has kids as young as 8, I mean wtf???? Why would an 8 year old even need a "corrective" school?

I think most kids go off the rails because of shit parenting, but with some it does seem out of the blue.
Schools like these are never the answer, however.

Why didn't the Hiltons send Paris to therapy?

When she turnt 18 she was free to leave the school and I think, even though she loves to party, she did a lot of it as a "fuck you" to her parents and did things to spite them and I can't blame her at all.

I've never been a fan of Paris or any of the Hiltons, but I've found Paris and Nicky very likeable in that docu and I have tons of sympathy for Paris.

It is well worth watching.
For those who are hesitant because of the abuse and the stories around that, the docu centres around that topic later on.
The first bit is fine to watch for anyone, the abuse stories come in around.. not sure, half point?
The Chanel purse drop too was a huge indicator to me that something was wrong... I don't think she came across as spoilt in that scene but broken, it was while the abuse was happening. It was like her parents were trying to BUY her affection instead of showing her care. A lot of wealthy parents do that.

I wouldn't blame Paris if she went completely no contact with her parents... having her "kidnapped" was absolutely evil. No wonder Paris doesn't trust them. How a parent could stand by and let that happen is beyond me.

I also thought it was odd, that when Paris was talking about the abuse she suffered at the school, Nicky said "so are you going to apologise to our parents about your behaviour?" and Paris said: "no." I don't blame her. It shows how they were raised, in the sense that although Paris was talking about something so traumatic, Nicky's first thought was to apologise.

Apparently Kathy and her sisters were raised in a very abusive household... which is maybe why she didn't show much emotion when Paris was talking about it. She is horrible, like a careless robot but I wonder if it is because that was how she was raised? There is speculation that their mother Kathleen Richards, tried to pimp the girls out. So gross.

So many celebs and rich people do it so they can get the exact mix of genders they want. It freaks me out. In america if you throw money at a fertility doctor they’ll do whatever you want

Yes, of course no one can really know what someone else is going through. However, I really don’t think that your sister offering to help you and a millionaire paying to rent another’s woman’s body are anything remotely resembling the same thing. One is down to love, the other is down to money.
I wish you luck.

^ i did not state that anything was fact, no idea why you felt compelled to add that as a comment.

A lot of research has been done on the impact of tearing away a child from their birth mother:

A study published in The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry found that children born through reproductive donation have adjustment scores within the normal range, but children born via surrogacy may experience higher levels of adjustment difficulties compared to those conceived through gamete donation.

I don't doubt Paris has had trauma, who hasn't? I still think she's a spoilt vapid, brat, and buying a baby is exactly what I'd expect from her.

Having a child is not a right either, especially when it negatively impacts on a woman who is always at a disadvantage both socially and economically.

I've always really liked Paris. Despite that image she portrayed on the Simple Life she always seemed quite intelligent and humble. She seemed to actually deeply care for strangers around her and want to make people happy.

I watched the doc tonight and sadly wasn't surprised by her chaotic childhood and the abuse she endured. I'm so sad for her that she seems to have constant bad luck in terms of relationships. Shes like a child. I want to scoop her up and stroke her hair and then help her get on a good path of independence and finding some inner strength. Shes a good girl really. I was always and still am rooting for her ✊

She’s fucking gross, it’s just like picking out a new puppy to her.
I’ve just read the full article and none of it sits well with me. Not happy with her 20 boy embryos so has gone through another round for girl embryos, like she’s at the store picking out a child. The way she talks about the doctor who offers a ‘concierge’ service to find the surrogate. Then saying she chose a surrogate because childbirth scares her, so that makes it’s ok for another poor woman to go through the pregnancy, childbirth and post partum recovery instead?

Thw majority of the comments on social media also seem to be supportive , some even saying they’d do exactly the same if they had the money!

Yeah, she really cares about women’s rights.
She’s commissioned 2 poorer women to give birth for her 🤮
I would imagine she used a surrogate as she is now 42 years old.
She has also said -

'I just have so much PTSD from what I went through as a teenager,” Hilton said. She has written in the past of sexual abuse and medical trauma that she experienced at a boarding school in Utah as a teen. “If I’m in a doctor’s office, I get a shot, anything, I will literally have a panic attack and I can’t breathe. I just knew that would not be healthy for me or the baby, growing inside of someone who has such high anxiety.”

"I would have loved that experience of growing the baby in your tummy and feeling the kicks and all of those exciting moments, but my life has just been so public,” she explained. “So even though the baby is biologically mine and Carter’s, we decided to have a surrogate carry him.'

I respect her openness and honestly.

Watching Season 2 and couldn’t agree more his behaviour is very strange , but Kathy’s response to Paris disclosing being raped and having an abortion is horrendous- adding further shame and blame on Paris - someone get Kathy to a therapist quick and educate her !!! Also what is the story with Kim her behaviour is very odd ?
Yes 💯 here to say Kathys behaviour is nuts!! I actually think Paris is afraid off her!! I love housewives of Beverly Hills. So im trying to think off the way Kathy was brought up because her mum was a crazy social climber. She'd have kathy having sex with a worker to teach her how to please a man etc 😳 well documented!! So how would that filter down to your 1st born daughter where you take everything out on?? Nikki got lucky being 2nd! I really think paris was typical l off your girl at 14 on the estate, emotionally abused by her mother & lashed out!! All while the mother tells everyone shes a discrace & shes needs help controlling her! Not really finding Kathy qute right now 👍

How do you know this? Perhaps Paris has thanked her in private and is protecting her privacy and identity. If she paraded her out for the world to see she would also be criticised for this. She can't win either way.
Yeah, a brief thank you so much to the wonderful surrogate who made all of this possible wouldn't out anyone would it? I bet it's not even crossed her mind.

Does she discuss how she said black men and people in general were disgusting N******s (many times) and how gays were all filthy animals who all get AIDS or is she continuing with the victim rebrand tour and blaming it all on her abuse? Gen Z need to wake the hell up and get out of her arse hole.

Just skidding in here as I finish Paris in love. Carter is a controlling piece of shit and I absolutely hate him.

The panic in his voice "is that legally binding?!" He couldn't get her up that aisle fast enough. He gives me the absolute creeps!

I’ve not read this whole thread (sorry!) but I do like Paris. She’s almost like a real life cartoon version herself!
However, does anyone else get a strange vibe from her husband? I’m not sure woman are his type, if you know what I mean?
I though that, but then it turns out he has a daughter from a previous (fling? i guess is the right term) so i dont think it's an arrangement.

I watched paris in love, and to me he seems like someone who is completely enamoured with paris hilton, the name and celebrity, rather than her. i think he likes the bragging rights or the fantasy or somethng. he seemed irritated by her a lot but like he was pretending he wasn't, and also he talks about how he doesnt care about her fame, image, name etc but it seemed a bit disingenious to me

Ugh. On Reddit, there is loads of posts from years ago from former students at the Provo Canyon school where Paris also went talking about the abuse they suffered and how to this day they still have nightmares. Like how she describes

And in the USA (where most of these commercial surrogacy arrangements take place) that rate is 24 in 100,000 one of the highest rates in the world. Which is terrible, and even worse if they die because they were carrying a baby because someone else really really wanted one (but not enough to do the hard work themselves obviously).

And there are no checks or balances on who can commission a surrogate. All you need is enough money. So Jane, who is infertile and desperate for a baby and will be a wonderful mother can do it. And so can John - who likes to have sex with children (which has happened btw - more than once).

It's an exploitative, cruel practice (which is why it's illegal in most countries) and it should be outlawed everywhere. For the sake of the babies who should be the most important person in the equation - but never are.
Well said

I just hate this whole notion that every aspect of a females body can be up for sale for the right price…

I know men also can be purchased in ways (sperm/escort etc), but its mainly the women who are up for sale all the time.
