Odd Neighbours / Neighbour Problems #3

New to Tattle Life? Click "Order Thread by Most Liked Posts" button below to get an idea of what the site is about:
Is the land to the side of your house public, private or shared property?
If the land belongs to you he should not be filming it but if it’s along a public footpath then I believe he is allowed. If he is filming public land he should have CCTV warning stickers in place.
Its private. Its our drive way.

I have already penned a letter about it to them, just building up the courage to send it. Ive been wondering about contacting the police for a while now. Could be a better option.

I love the idea of the flags @griftalo. I already have quite a bright motion activated floodlight on that part of the drive.

You make his life a bit difficult by filing a complaint with the ico and submitting a gdpr request. Any recordings on your land can be considered personal information so he’d have to respond in a timely manner or risk nasty fines. He might decide it’s more trouble than it’s worth to fly his drone over your land.
Great idea. Thank you

Point a laser light at the drone (the type you can get for cats) or soak it with a water gun.
Put up a sheet/flag/board (a picture of something rude) where he is recording your property, something that moves in the wind as if he has motion sensor on it to spy on you it’ll forever be going off.
report it online to the police/council as harassment.
don’t let him intimidate you, some people are just pathetic and need the attention to feel important.

Can I have your thoughts please on neighbour flying his nasty little drone over our garden?

Also to add, this is a weird as hell neighbour who's not only nosey, but has no boundaries. He's sent me dodgy/explicit texts before (claimed they were for someone else), and has cctv that films right down the side of our house.

Im scared to confront him as he's massive and my partner wont do anything.

Have a look on here, as there should be a way of reporting him. Essentially, he needs to be licensed and log all flights and big trouble if he isn't.

Witnessed a drug deal at 8am this morning, heard chatting outside my front door so had a snoop on the ring doorbell and guy walking toward my neighbour, who i have suspected of drug dealing for a while, with cash in his hand. neighbour obviously knowing i have the Ring ushers the guy away. less than a minute later neighbour walks back annoyingly over my front garden. It just makes me feel uneasy especially living alone to potentially have people lingering around outside. had a weird feeling the other night to check the ring, i dont normally look back at it as can make me feel a bit paranoid sometimes and ignorance is bliss, to see a guy try the handle of my car, the click the camera put his hood up and shoot off.
As rubbish as this has been living next to these people i've just realised they are moving out and worried who will be replacing them. As much as they have been dodgy and made me feel uneasy, our walls are paper thin and noise-wise they have very rarely caused me any issues that way. worried their replacements are going to be noisy and make my life hell that way. makes me think i'd rather take the indiscreet drug dealing over the racket of tvs and people

I swear to god, my 'how dare your cat enter my garden' neighbour has decided to start drilling or using an electric saw in her garden 5 minutes after I've arrived home for the day. I don't think it's coincidence. She's retired and had all day to do it.

I'm actively (and ok, maybe a bit pettily) avoiding my kitchen - she can see me in my kitchen window and wants the attention more than anything. She also has the horrible habit of shouting from her garden into my kitchen window if she sees me, to have a conversation that almost always turns into a complaint about something.

I can hear her out there screaming to her husband, huffing and puffing and making a real drama. I know things could be much worse, but I just want to relax after a day of work!!!

Maybe you could get some of that reflective film on your kitchen window. It should effect the light coming in but will stop Nosey from clocking you making your tea!

Such a shame you have to turn your music up loud so you can hear it over her drill!
And the 1812 overture is one of your favourites.

I second this. It’s great. I can wander around my bedroom now without the creepy old couple across the road staring in!
(It only works in daylight tho, people can see in when you have the light on)

My neighbour has just lit his barbecue….and used what seems like a gallon and a half of lighter fuel.
I was sitting in the conservatory with the doors open but have had to close them and go indoors because the smell is so strong it’s making my eyes water and my throat hurt.

I hate barbecue season- the smell of the cooking meat and my neighbours always stick their grill right next to my trees (which they hate) I’m sure they are trying to set them alight.

I just told next door’s dog visitor that he howls all week (in a concerned way, not having a go) and suggested that maybe four days was too long to be left each week and he told me to mind my own business 🙃

That’s so cruel. A comment like that would provoke me to report them for neglecting the poor dog. Why aren’t there many good people and neighbours around these days 😣

I think you need to be tougher on him about this. I would write him a letter explaining that the dog howling is making your life intolerable and you’re going to be starting a noise complaint with the council. You could also add that you’re reporting him to the RSPCA - I know you tried that already but he doesn’t need to know that. It’s totally unacceptable for him to leave that poor dog alone for so long when it’s clearly distressed and the disturbance he’s causing you. I get that taking the step to make it more formal is hard and feels confrontational but quite frankly, he’s clearly told you he doesn’t give a duck, so why should you?

The council have already “investigated” and closed the case.

Well sadly there’s not enough people who care about neglect of a dog, as there is nothing illegal about what he is doing, nor is there an agency who can stop him.
