Odd Neighbours / Neighbour Problems #3

I’ve posted a couple times about my odd neighbours. Well last weekend they went and got themselves a hot tub (I guess maybe they were a wee bit jealous) .

there was no hot tub Saturday, yet they were in it on Sunday - if anyone has one you know it takes a while to sort the chemical levels etc. we live in an extremely hard water area so usually takes me 3/4 days to sort).

ive just noticed they’ve taken the lid off to get in today - it’s cloudy and tinged green. I want to tell them about the chemicals or give them some of our test strips etc but my husband thinks I should leave them at it because they’re bleeps. What do you guys think?

My neighbour's partner had some sort of breakdown the other night, I have no sympathy for him because he's a bleep. He was shouting and groaning all night saying he doesn't want to be in his body, seeing people who weren't there. Ambulance came at 5am and took him away with a blanket over his head. He kept everyone awake and we've all got work to get to. Next door neighbour who was a mental health nurse said he was sure he'd be admitted but when I got home from work, the head's van is gone and the privets in front of the pensioner bungalows over the road have been mowed down so he's either been allowed out or he's done a runner. What a bleep! All the old dears are upset about the privets, they can't let their dogs out to run because there's a big hole there now.

I've always believed there is an unwritten rule you don't be too noisy on a Sunday. Just out of common courtesy really.

Daughter of our shithouse neighbour has been left in the care of shithouse neighbour’s on-off partner. He works shifts so goes out to work about 9pm, home at 6am. She’s 16, so starts playing loud music the moment he leaves - til the early hours. Mother seems to have gone away with the baby. We’ve already had police and social services out twice due to domestic violence. My husband had to bang on the wall at 3am this morning to get her to shut up. He goes away for work for the summer in just over a week so I’m going to be left alone to deal with it.

So glad to have found this thread. I'm at my wit's end with my neighbour and I don't know if I'm in the wrong here.

Our gardens back onto each other, and aren't able to be fenced in a secure way - it's basically one 'compound', so my elderly cat is able to walk between them. Hers is about 10x larger than mine, and catches the sun in the afternoon. My cat follows the sun over the day and spends most of his time lying on the grass sunbathing - firstly in mine in the morning then at hers as the sun passes over mine. I've had him for five years and she's always made it clear she hates animals, going so far as to lie about the estate I live in being a 'no pet' zone.

She claimed last month that my cat destroyed £600 of new plants, and her entire lawn by peeing and pooing. Her garden is about 500sqm - 5000sqft. I have seen no evidence of him doing any damage and I don't understand how one cat could with the size, or why he hasn't done this in the past five years. I bought her nets to cover new seedlings out of my own money, curry powder to deter him, etc. It seemed to initially please her but she's now banging a saucepan every time she sees him in her garden.

It's clear she wants him to be an indoor cat, which I simply will not do: it's a safe, walled garden we share and in summer I have my patio door open all day long. However, it may be that he is pooing in her garden (I usually see him do it in my flowerbed but I can't rule it out), but I haven't ever seen him destroy plants. He's my first cat. Am I breaking good-neighbour-etiquette? Is there an unspoken set of rules when it comes to cat ownership I'm missing?

Thank you so much. With him being my first cat I really wasn't sure if I was making some kind of mistake.

She does strike me as a retired-too-early-and-nothing-better-to-do neighbour, I hear her constantly arguing with her hen-pecked husband (who is lovely, no complaints about cat from him!) and moaning about children's bikes being left in the cul-de-sac, birthday party noise, etc.

I have a cat (I don’t share a garden so maybe I don’t know the rules) but should you be cleaning the poo? Like you would if it’s a dog? My cat doesn’t poo in our garden as she’s a wee Princess who likes to go toilet in her litter tray at the exact same time as me

The issue is her garden is massive, partly lawned but then lots of hedges and trees and hidden bits. I can't imagine they're easy to find. She moaned once that she was finding multiple poos a day... from the one cat. And yet I never see her out there. It's all bizarre.

Yeah she’s probably just really moany, I’m no good with sq feet so didn’t get the size reference lol. She’s probably blaming fox poo etc on your cat too.

A few of our neighbours have cats that jump fences into our garden etc and I’d be annoyed if there was any cat poos in my main garden, but in the hedges and weeds I probably wouldn’t bother complaining. Maybe ask her what her suggestions are to see if she’s being unreasonable or not?

We have a giant fluffy cat that creeps around our garden. It annoys me as a) it’s a private garden b) it poos where our children play and c) we’re surrounded by bush land and I’ve seen it hunting birds and other native wildlife.

But I wouldn’t bother mentioning it to a neighbour. If I see it, I chase it out and it’s coming over less and less. It does annoy me a bit as if that was someone’s dog people would be up in arms but because it’s a cat it’s somehow ok?

We had cats years ago. My NDN hated them and would throw all cat poo she found in her garden, on my doorstep - no matter that 70 billion other cats live nearby. The thing is, she still does this daily even though I don’t have them anymore!

But I opened this thread to moan about the other NDN who is bleeping obsessed with his hot tub and I can’t take anymore. It’s been roaring away since 4pm and no sign of stopping as he’s mid film (and doesn’t own headphones apparently). Bad enough that I can’t sit in my own garden any more, but I can’t sleep at night either with the constant bleeping hum. Had enough.

Our nightmare neighbours have tied their massive washing line to our fence, splitting the panel to do so, and loading their heavy washing to our fence. Then, today, I caught them twice throwing their broken pegs into our garden! We have a puppy and he immediately ran over and picked them up, chewing them into shards
I have to admit I went mental and shouted at them, then cut down the washing line from our side

So petty but I don't fancy a massive vet bill thanks to them.

When I asked my mum how to get rid of snails eating my plants, she told me to pick them up and throw them into the garden of the neighbour I liked the least. Obviously, I don’t do that (except occasionally to the wanker who likes behind us) but it did make me laugh.

I can't sit in the garden cos of the big dog hurling itself at the fence to get me. Their fence is quite frail too.
There's always something when you're all living on top of each other, and people and animals get very territorial.
I'm hoping to move and get some space between me and neighbours.
I went to a friend's house recently. New build, a few years old, but the back looks out on to farmland - a hill with sheep on and actual space between the houses ...... I'm feeling a bit envious.
