I really wanted her to succeed as I think that regardless of the reason for the split, she deserves something to lift her spirits.

She just doesn’t seem enthusiastic about this at all, and it’s sad. Her video on IG just proves that - she really tried to push the “I’m so happy with this” vibe but she’s empty behind her eyes and her posture just screams that she’s sad. She’s not carrying herself how she used to and hasn’t for some time.

I’m not one to want to sh*t all over someone’s hard work, I’ll always build people up when I can but this just isn’t Niomi. She may talk about skin care a lot, but her range is completely off-brand. It was marketed and promoted with the “Elle Darby” colour palette - the soft beiges, the whites, the cotton shades etc with splashes of vibrant fruit/floral colours. I was expecting the products to have those “natural“ tones and to be in very simple bottles with pumps etc - maybe recycled glass? I don’t know but this range just gives me that “Boots Christmas gift set vibe”, y’know, the “I’ve forgotten my cousins present so I’ll buy that gift set for a tenner.” The packaging doesn’t in anyway match how it was promoted/teased and it just isn’t eye-catching. Who knows, maybe the products are really good -time and reviews will tell, but I’m just not seeing this lasting. It’ll fizzle out, which is sad.

I found it odd that she didn’t show herself using the products properly - there’s a whole routine in that range so it strikes me odd. I could tell from her fingertips and nails that she has some slight clubbing, it’s not my place to ever speak on someone’s health but I hope she’s aware and that she gets it looked into (if she hasn’t already) because there’s obviously a condition there.

I’d also like to think that those she’s sent PR packages to will use the products continuous for a month or so, to give a fair review rather than just praising after using them for a week.

I do admire Niomi for sticking with the launch and still trying to be positive but it’s very clear that she needs to just take a step back, focus on finding herself and find her spark again. She comes across as a kind woman and I wish her all the success she dreams of.

I find it somewhat interesting that she sent PR to a decent number of bloggers (she shared stories from Estée, Suzie, etc. today) but not Fleur. I don’t follow the others at all, but I watch Fleur off and on, and I thought she seemed to be more into “sustainability” etc. than the others? She’s following the smart skin page and placed an order for all the products so it’s a bit weird to see the one-sided support lol. Maybe she feels bad for Niomi or something.
I like Fleur but she's another one who buys and gets given endless stuff she doesn't need. She might talk a lot about sustainability but isn't really walking the walk. She recommended Niomi to her followers when she adopted a vegan diet and has been supportive on SM about Niomi's break up with Joe. I'm not sure if they know each other though.

I found it super odd too that Fleur wasn't sent a PR package, considering they used to be friendly back when all the UK youtubers pretended they were besties. And Fleur is still a beauty influencer, even if she's moved a bit more to lifestyle. AND she's vegan now. Meanwhile, annoying mantis Zanna Van Dijk got a PR package, didn't even bother to properly open it.

Like we've all said, the marketing for Smart Skin is absolute tit.

She also took photos super close with Charlotte, who is a nurse. That's plain irresponsible.

Just because the UK government says you can do something (like have 6 people in your house in the middle of a pandemic) doesn't mean you SHOULD. Basic common sense. But I guess that's sorely lacking, which is why numbers are spiking up.
Yeah, I would say loads of people (myself included) always wear a mask in the street, the only time I haven't in public is when eating or in the park at a big distancce from anyone else. I am shocked most people don't seem to be calling all of these influencers out for being so irresponsible (unless she is deleting comments I guess)

Fleur is vegan now??? I atopped being interested in her when she announced she was pregnant - might go and check her out if she does any food vids.

I agree - why do they perceive it as such a hardship?

Eating cake for breakfast! Niomi’s dictionary words to describe anything :
1) absolutely
2) absolutely gorgeous
3) dream /dreamy
4)absolute dream
5) perfect
6) oh did I mention absolutely perfect ?!!!?!!

On another note : why did she choose skin care business ? She is a YouTuber , what makes her a skin care specialist ?
I get it crafty people turning designers scenario but making skin care formula ? 🥴

now that she is training to be yoga teacher , she can open a yoga studio with a vegan cafe - do the yoga , eat the treats . Her channel , work ,book is about cooking abd recipes .so instead skin care (which she gets 100 free products from 100 brands) she should open a cafe or a restaurant and sell food with her recipes ! Combine that with yoga studio , cool huh ? 🤣okay I am not sure if someone said this here earlier , if yes patent this ! If not , I am patenting this in case Nimbobs decides to pursue this 🤣😂

Yup, thank you! People doing the minimum the gov tell us and eating out to help out just because they can is exactly why we’re now having extra measures and areas of lockdown lol 😂 I would quite like to see my family this year but until people exercise some initiative and common sense it doesn’t seem likely.
And as for Niomi - shes socialising a lot with a lot of different groups of people so yep, I would like to see her wearing a mask more as she’s clearly a high risk for passing it along if she’s asymptomatic. Like I said before considering she’s the one crying on camera about deaths in other countries etc she doesn’t seem to care at all about those we are literally experiencing here and now - have we seen her actually say anything at all about covid? Seems like a classic white knight to cry about tragedies in other countries then do the bare minimum/not even talk about one that happens at home 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well she eats vegan, still buying/wearing leather etc. so not in the true sense, but yes I think she switched to the diet sometime last year and then managed to persuade Mike. River still eats meat/fish. She did do a vlog about the transition on You Tube and adds snippets of food/recipes. If you're looking for some inspo Gaz Oakley and Pick Up Limes are both great.

Her step-dad is a restauranteur and could help her out as a partner or investor. This would honestly be a more suitable venture for her. She could do a vegan cafe or a yoga studio with a ✨smoothie✨ bar. The food business is tricky albeit but she has a lot of privileges that could make it easier.

exactly, the people I feel sorry for are people working long shifts and wearing a mask the whole time, wearing one outside is nowhere near as bad

The website says this. Not to defend her but it seems legit.
Does anyone know if her boots range contained palm oil?
SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL (RSPO)
- A Global Standard for Sustainable Palm Oil
The Smart Skin team thought long and hard about whether or not to include Palm Oil into our Face Oil. We researched, we listened, and we learned. In the end, after digging deep into this ingredient, we learnt the following:
  • Palm Oil is an extremely efficient crop, meaning we can yield up to 10 times the amount of palm oil per area of land compared to coconut oil, for example.
  • It is also reported that palm oil trees do not require as many pesticides or fertilisers to be used when growing them, compared to other alternative oils.
  • The palm oil industry offers jobs to over 25 million people living in poverty in developing countries.
In the end, we understood that as long as RSPO (Responsibly Sourced Palm Oil) certified palm oil is used, we could actually make a positive ethical impact. The RSPO has developed a set of environmental and social criteria which companies must comply with in order to produce Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). When they are properly applied, these criteria can help to minimise the negative impact of palm oil cultivation on the environment and communities in palm oil-producing regions.
Doesn't the palm oil industry destroy tons of habitat for orangutans? They mentioned nothing about wildlife convservation

exactly, i noticed she has an item on the menu in his restaurant and as people have said she has basically forfeited any skin care sponsorships now

I’m wondering if she’s going to kind of convert her channel into something like Blogilates where she does free yoga videos? Tbh, I’d probably watch that more than any of her current videos. Do we know if the yoga course is gifted or paid for...if paid for, she must surely have a purpose in mind for it. Seems like too much hard work for her to do the course with no intention of actually instructing

The most real emotions I have seen from her for a long time is that video where her friends surprised her at the pilates. Probably because she didn’t know she was being filmed

The Boots range was full of standard palm oil

Those pilates stories are giving me the creeps. Again. Three people who are not from the same household, who each meet a bunch of people from different circles, all together. In a small closed space. Working out.

It's like there's no pandemic at all in their world.

Oh, and... how did she get time to go to do cupping and acupuncture in the week of her product launch? I know actual entrepreneurs and the week before their big release, they barely sleep, much less bop around London doing fru fru wellness stuff.

That pilates in the clouds contraption looks like something that would have been used in 50 Shades of Grey.

A fabulous and fair post. I must agree, I wanted her to do well after her breakup but it’s clear the skincare route is not for her and the effort put into the launch is lacking. I was also expecting a simple style recycled glass type packaging, maybe a little Omorovicza-esque.

Seconding the comment above about this being a fair comment, I do still feel bad for Niomi. I’m glad she seems to have friends who are showing up for her.

As a side note, that 50 shades of grey music thing is kinda weird? Just reminds me of the time I went through a breakup and tried to prove to myself that I could be cool and fun. Luckily that was limited to an audience of a few people (who I still feel embarrassed around today lol)
