My sister has stage 4 cancer and keeps on working in order to be able to have holidays and nice experiences. I just cannot believe how NNL is not ashamed to be holidaying on the back of donated funds when covid has impacted so many charities funding streams. The level of entitlement astounds me. How her husband is happy to go along with using this money also really troubles me. Sorry I needed to vent but it all feels a bit much now with everything people are going through in the world
Totally 100% get this. Until reading here, I didn’t realise she had a ‘GoFundME’. Now I dislike her even more and what kind of people give away that much money to a clown? I find it shocking how easily people will part with their hard earned cash …

NNL has become something I really hoped she wouldn’t as she used to be so lovely to follow, a normal girl trying to navigate the crappy hand she’s been dealt.

But now it’s become so OTT for the gram. Even lying the other day about how much her wig cost then had to admit she had lied?

I don’t begrudge her the holidays as always the memories she’ll make with her husband will be amazing, but what I don’t like is she asks people to support the ads because she gave up work etc. and needs to pay the bills. But suddenly they’re able to go to the Maldives then Jamaica…she’s gone full scale Influencer now. And it’s a shame.
Didn't she also go to Lapland or somewhere for Christmas? Feel like the sheer number of freebie holidays is taking the p now

She went to the Maldives in October/November with her husband and friends and then in mid November she went on a paid holiday to Lapland with a group of girls - think it was a freebie to promote the holiday? Now she’s off to Jamaica. I’m sure she also said they are planning Disney Florida again this year as that was cancelled due to Covid? Or did I imagine that?

she also looked like she was sat in business class seats on the plane this morning.... is this to do with the diasbled seat on a plane malarky or has she actually paid extra herself.

I used to like her, felt sorry for her with the hand she'd been dealt but appreciated the fact she was raising awareness etc. now I can't bear to watch all the prancing and all the self love, cellulite rubbish when she is bloody tiny. I know sometimes disability can come in many forms and she has cancer, with it now affecting her spine so sitting maybe uncomfortable, but its just hard to get head round when she literally does handstands, cartwheels and dances everywhere.

The people donating are often calling her an inspiration in the comments. To me there is nothing inspiring about a person who is willing to take money from people to fund lavish travel and experiences on the basis of having cancer. I would personally feel mortified and think it’s really poor taste to have so little thought for how self indulgent and entitled taking this money is when there is a cost of living crisis going on in the country right now. NNL is extremely lucky to be treated for her cancer in the UK through the nhs. When looking at treatments for my sister in the USA we found so many had to set up gofundme to pay their basic medical bills. NNL does not have to pay for her treatment and it seems it also has not been impacted during the pandemic. I don’t have an issue about her flogging whatever she wants through her page but the gofundme has really irritated me. I do sense she is anticipating a tougher time on treatment in the coming months. It seems her treatments have been mostly targeted up to now, which can be more manageable. The chemo tablet she has been on for the past year is mostly tolerable but if she is going on IV chemo she will have a cancer experience much more relatable and true to what many cancer patients go through. I wonder how her page will be then.

It seems morally wrong to me to take donations from people who feel sorry for you and then spend them on lots of luxury holidays abroad. Fund your own holidays and if you can't, find other things you can do that are meaningful and/or fun. This sits really uncomfortably with me. I don't think that Stage IV is an excuse to do this. In a way we're ALL terminal. We all have things we'd like to do before we die. But there's a moral line and NNL has danced right across it. I might not think much of BB's advertising obsession but at least she's making her own money herself and not doing a Go Fund Me.

The emotional blackmail is infuriating too - ‘bootiful hoomans, by supporting me with lil likes, shares, comments, you help me continue to create content and spread the word about secondary breast cancer’ which equates to ‘click everything you can, as I’m now accustomed to the freebies, goods and services using my diagnosis to manipulate your psychology’…

and I‘m really hoping her continued presence on the ‘Teenage and Young Adult’ unit doesn’t deprive another patient in need of their specialist support. My understanding was the age range should be 16-24, not a mid-thirties female who wastes NHS staff time creating content for personal gain.

Does she live really far away from Laura? Thought it was odd how there was a Secondaey Sisters meet up yesterday that she didn't bother to attend. Although I'm not convinced she cares that much about Secondary Sisters or spreading the cancer word anymore. She just wants nice holidays and to show off how thin she is in the pretence of body positivity (as an aside SO sick of ppl becoming body positivity influencers to make a quick dollar- it is so trite and tedious a message when it is coming from every angle.)

Laura lives in Norwich or that area I believe. Think Nicki is from Guildford so yeah it’s over a 3hr drive between them both.

NNL lives in or near Guildford, Surrey and Laura lives in Norwich, Norfolk.

NNL only does things that put her in the spotlight of whatever fundraiser it is at the time, whereas Laura actively promotes and volunteers to support others. The level of NNL’s ‘look at meeeeeeee’ increases in line with her follow count. If she isn’t the centre of attention, she’ll make it that she’s the centre of attention, such as volunteering to paint the naked bodies of other women, but then showing off and pushing others to one side in order to show her body off, even though she had her turn the year before.

You raise a really good point here about the age range. It is certainly costing the nhs more for NNL to have her treatment in the specialist unit. Do you think she genuinely lacks maturity and insight?

I think her efforts to live life to the full, etc push things too far to the detriment of others and she ensures everything revolves around her as a result. I appreciate the prognosis, but she doesn’t come across as anything other than demanding, expectant and entitled.

I believe she’s what, 35/36. And the TYAC at St Luke’s is for:
We also have a Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service (TYAC) for young people aged 16 to 24 years.

Wow.

I think she turned 34 in October last year but yes, she’s much too old to be using the services specifically in place for young people. I bet no one else over the age threshold gets to do the same…

I follow this and Bowel Babe's thread with a little trepidation (if that's the right word); I find both of them irritating and stopped following both insta accounts, but I do have some sympathy too. I'm a cancer patient myself and tbh find these accounts either triggering or annoying. As someone who likes to have treatment in peace in clothes I can wear straight to bed when I get home - I find all the dancing and dressing up strange and impractical, but each to their own I guess. My main issue with these types of accounts is that you get bought their book (bowel babe) or recommended their accounts when you are ill and I think people that don't understand cancer expect this 'toxic' positivity from you - dancing your way through chemo showing them all what a trooper you are.

In NNL's defence though, I wouldn't be too worried about using the the young adult service. I don't think they work on a limited quota of spaces. I am only talking about my own experiences, but I also used one at my hospital and was 35. Although it is over the age range, I think this is not unusual. The service provides specialist mental health help with the issues that you encounter when you are 'young' to have cancer for example infertility, early menopause and so on and one of their goals is to help you meet others with these same battles. I think this is why she is there. I personally think that this is fair enough. Most cancer wards are full of older people, and the specialist services there are geared towards very different concerns from patients. Breast cancer in a post menopausal woman (which would be most of the patients) is very different to breast cancer in a woman in her early 30s and her experience will be more suited to the young adult centre.

Fair enough. It just looks a bit weird when only one of them makes much mention of it anymore. If you don't have the heart or the time for it, just move away entirely

Agree. I think Laura is definitely more keen to do stuff within the cancer community and actually raise awareness/do things herself to help but I think Nicki just fancies herself as a bit of a celeb now, she’s realised she can make easy money by being an influencer and that people will donate money hand over fist towards her 🤷🏼‍♀️She’s the very “marketable” attractive face of cancer - blonde, slim, white, good looking, middle class. She knows it and she’s cashing in on it.

The gloating about this holiday while the war in Ukraine is going on is particularly distasteful. Yes, I know that life doesn’t stop and that she isn’t obliged to comment on it but Jesus Christ - read the room and have a bit of tact and decorum - is it really necessary to be on Insta stories the minute you land/the minute you get into your hotel room, gloating about how luxurious your hotel is and how hot the weather is? Seriously? Away to duck and enjoy your holiday in private and be a bit more respectful of what’s going on in the world.

This is why she pisses me off! Just stop it.
If you look down her Instagram grid, the vast majority of her photos are ones she’s taken of herself prancing around or posing in either a tiny bikini, underwear or tiny sports wear. She’s clearly very very very comfortable with her body and how it looks. And that’s awesome - but it’s the way she does this whole “I’m just like you” schtick that’s really not cool particularly when she’s an account that’s supposed to be showing what it’s like to have stage 4 breast cancer. I’m sorry but her body is not how the majority of bodies look when they have S4BC. I totally get that internally there’s lots going on and that she isn’t as healthy as she looks but it must be a massive slap in the face for young women who have had mastectomies, who are scared, who have swollen bodies and no hair and lymphoedema and who have put on loads of weight through treatment etc to see her shaking her size 8 bum around proclaiming that “it’s ok to have stretch marks guys, cellulite is totally normal” when she has about 2 tiny white stretch marks and next to no cellulite on an otherwise “perfect” slim, toned, bronzed body.
