I am stupidly really pissed off about it. I wanted to elope, and when I was engaged she told me she’d never speak to me again if we did. So we had a proper wedding. So for her now to elope and then to find out via Facebook takes the real biscuit! It must have been quite planned as she’s got professional hair, makeup and flowers in the photo. I think I’m just cross she lied? I dunno. I have a lot of feelings about it and I’m not quite sure how to express those yet

After a few better nights last night was such a shitshow... Don't know whether it is still the cold/cough, teeth, learning to crawl, the 4 month regression or a delightful combination of the above but bloody hell it was brutal, we barely slept at all! I've now got the fear for tonight (although a G&T has taken the edge off that fear ) as I've got to survive the toddler's first haircut tomorrow potentially on about 45 minutes sleep!

BabyShark had her 12 week injections on Tuesday, she’s been super chill and her usual happy self until tonight. She has been screaming for over an hour and she never really cries! Could this be a delayed reaction?! I know there’s no men b in these ones but I have no idea what is wrong with her

On the bright side, it’s only taken 6.5 months but I’ve just had a shower without losing what feels like half a head of hair! Hopefully the postpartum hair loss is at an end!

(She says absolutely refusing to stand up to her own mother who’s on her 2nd long haul holiday of the year with another 2 booked but won’t actually come 2 hours down the road to see the new house/granddaughter )

You summed up MIL perfectly. She’s not been too bad actually because she’s getting days in the week where she’s baby sitting so she’s backed off. Still makes the odd comment but nothing like it was.

two days til baby’s birthday and we have lots of nice things planned over the whole weekend which I’m looking forward to but with everything that happened with her birth and NICU stay also approaching a year ago gives me anxiety. I’ve spent the year just telling myself “she shouldn’t have been born till October” and I’m wondering at what point I just get over it.

Hope everyone’s ok! Worlds gone a bit crazy hasn’t it. So I’m probably going to have to start selling some organs to afford the nursery costs but that’s alright isn’t it.

Not quite the same situation, but when my nephew was born (full term) he was very unwell, had to be helicoptered to a specialist hospital at 1 day old and had 3 operations over a few weeks. My SIL didn’t celebrate his first birthday as she said she couldn’t bring herself to as it was just reminding her of how horrendous the NICU stay and the whole situation had been. They had a day together as a family, and then they celebrated 6 weeks later - on the anniversary of when he came home from hospital and their “proper” family life began. I know that it’s different for everyone, but just to let you know others have felt similar about a first birthday approaching.

I thought mine had ended but then their new favourite game became “lets grab fistfuls of mummy’s hair” even if i scrape it back into a mum bun they grab the wispy bits

I love this idea.
We have decided something similar we're going to celebrate them being 1 on the 25th but on 26th September when they should of been born & they're medically classed as a one year old were going to have a wonder around sea life and its another excuse for cake

My SIL is all go about celebrating his actual birthday now, but she definitely found that first year very painful.
