It’s just the usual level of hypocrisy over there. Spend your entire pregnancy avoiding caffeine - the pregnancy you didn’t contemplate until you had a house, a six-figure pension, X, Y and Z, EBF, BLW, fretting about Montessori nurseries, wooden toys (not fun colourful plastic that beeps) and “non-gendered” clothing, exposure to culture - but it’s also OK to smack your kid up (cheers Keith!) the minute they don’t respond in the manner you’d planned for.
In that instance, it’s absolutely fine and “we all do it”.
Have a Greek yoghurt during pregnancy and they all act like you’ve been chowing down on polar bear livers.
I observed many years ago that the ones which adapted well/better to motherhood were those who had pets - I.e., we’re used to coming home from work and someone else’s needs coming before your own.
