I've had nicer responses from Tattle than I ever did on Mumsnet. I like the fact debates on here are more reasonably and rationally discussed whereas on Mumsnet, if your opinion is the wrong one then it quickly descends into a bunfight and becomes an echo chamber as those with differing opinions get put off posting as they don't want to be insulted.

Post the other day asking how much would you pay for this meal at a chain pizza restaurant
Was something like
4x pizza
1x kids meal
4x soft drinks

was then 2 pages of people guessing anything from 60-100

even after OP had answered (£75 for anyone on the edge of their seats) there was still pages of people guessing

overall not really sure what the point of the thread was, it ended up being Zizzis which you can easily browse menu online and see prices and budget accordingly if money is issue?

And they always have vouchers thru email so OP has missed a trick there

edit to add- on further reading the thread someone has commented that they use Tesco vouchers and her 2x kids meals for herself and partner
I have secondhand embarrassment for her going out as 2 adults and ordering a full 3 course meal (plus squash ) off a kids menu

How many people commented that 4 pizzas are far too much for 4 people/one slice and a bit of salad should fill up any adult/no wonder 98.9% of the UK population is obese, yadda yadda?

Honestly I had a brief period of wondering why I couldn’t make a chicken stretch as long as a mythical Mumsnet chicken, but then realised it’s because we all eat normal sized portions.

There was a post recently in AIBU with a mumsnetter losing it because her husband had eaten HER tin of tomato soup, when there were three chicken soups (HIS) in the cupboard and he doesn't even like tomato soup!
I couldn't be bothered to read further but of course she'd been ill, was 38 weeks pregnant blah blah, the usual.
I just thought how bizarre that you would post such a traumatic I mean trivial experience for people to be on your side. No doubt the DH was labelled as passive agressive, a sociopath or narcissist for the crime.

I haven't seen the thread in question but this is the sort of thing I might text a mate to grumble about. A lot of them don't seem to have many friends outside their marriage (competitive introversion is another of their Things ) so they use the site instead, apparently not finding it at all weird to share their trivial marital complaints with a million strangers. I always think I'd be really upset if I was their partner and discovered they'd started a public forum thread to complain about some minor thing I'd done, instead of just telling me.

The funniest Seafour mishap for me is when she got all emotional about having had most of her nose removed due to cancer, it being so grotesque that her children would shy away and flinch yet forgot that she’d posted a selfie on one of the weight loss threads with a little scab on her nose

They also blindly defend the NHS as well, even when it doesn’t deserve it (which is 99.9%of the time). There is a thread on there at the moment from someone who’s elderly mother is alone waiting to be seen in hospital because no one is allowed in to see her, she’s understandably worried about it. So many of them are replying with very patronising posts about why this stupid rule is still in place, precious NHS staff cant possibly risk being exposed to Covid can they Its a joke, you can be exposed to Covid anywhere. I caught it at choir practice, my brother caught it at a football match, my Auntie and Uncle got it at a restaurant.

Meanwhile the rest of are moving on and trying to live with it. Fact is the whole thing was in a mess way, way before Covid and will continue to be until there is reform, which is possible without privatisation BTW.

Thread on wedding food, poster says she might be hungry at a wedding because they are eating at 4.30 and so she might take snacks. About 20 pages!! OP getting some insulting comments, ‘people don’t eat pudding everyday, if you adjust the way you eat now, your body with adjust to normal portion sizes before the wedding’

Food threads can go this way I know, but I can’t imagine someone typing that message out and thinking it’s appropriate to send!

So many threads go like this, people get so involved and so over the top and just insult an OP!

Honestly I can’t imagine typing half the stuff some of them say, in any way, to any post, and thinking ‘yeah that’s a good idea I’ll post that’

Agreed. I also hate when posters pile on 'oh OP, you will be bleeding from every orifice, your boobs will fall off...you cannot allow anyone past the front door'.

I invented some of the above but I do feel for any expectant woman, being frightened by the horrible picture they paint.
Also, everyone who comes to visit - usually the dreaded parents in law - stays for six months, expects to have attendance danced upon them and five course meals prepared from scratch daily. Of course.

I don't have kids. But anytime I have visited family or friends after a new baby is born, I have gladly done anything I can, even if it's only making tea, or holding the baby while the mother has a shower or something. I don't invite myself along but the new parents have always been dying to show off the newborn.

Just reading the post about the child being hurt by a child with SEN. I agree every child deserves to not be hurt or upset at school and if my child who has SEN continues to be violent when he starts full time we will likely have to home school. However some of the attitudes towards children with additional needs is horrific and i hope with everything I have my son never comes into contact with people like some of them on there.

There’s a thread on just now about what passive aggressive things you’ve come across/done. 80% is completely made up, you know the ones, where OP comes out on top and everyone laughs at the ‘victim,’ senior members, invariably men, in the company are made to look foolish by a mere woman and yawn and yawn it goes…well, they’re all spitting their tea over their keyboards at someone who laid out some guys cutlery from their desk drawer, he’d brought it from the canteen and had omitted to take it back.
Well! She laid out about 17 pieces of cutlery on his desk, we are to believe people came from far and wide to look at this collection of knives and forks…everyone at work thought how funny it was! MN are wetting themselves over such fun… what a load of old tosh.
